Bristol Seafood Grill – Downtown KC, Mo Ratings and Reviews
It was very busy and the service was a little slow. We had allowed for an hour and a half but had to hurry to get to the play. They put us in a little room by ourselves which was very nice and helped cut down on the noise level. The food was absolutely delicious! I would allow 2 hours next time otherwise it was all good.
Our table was too close to the front door and it was very chilly that night. They need to have a heavy curtain to curtail the chill. Food was needlessly cold and not up to par. Our waitress was not very attentive. Had to ask for more water and butter and she forgot our discount.
Despite reservation seating was late and near door with very chilly draft. Service was slow and inattentive. Seafood was good but not great. Sides were underwhelming and disproportionately small relative to entrees.
Reservation was for my daughters 18th Birthday and they did at least sprinkle some Happy Birthday confetti on the table and provided a free dessert for her. She ordered chocolate lava cake which was also disappointing (looked like a prepackaged cupcake that was insufficiently warmed).
We have been long time patrons of the Bristol in Leawood, probably going there 1-2 times per month at least. We were very disappointed as we had reservations at this location for 5:30 but we weren't seated until around 6:10 p.m. We were attending a concert at the Sprint Center with friends so we felt rushed, etc. They also never came around to offer a second round of bisquits....not that we needed them but would have eaten them anyway!! :)
While we will still go to the Bristol Leawood frequently, I will not recommend the downtown location for anyone who is concerned with timing for an event or concert.
Bristol always does a pretty good job. I would like them to take it up a notch as it relates to their cooking and presentation of fresh fish. Also service as it relates to little things like biscuits, fresh ground pepper, etc. aren't as sharp as they could be. Step it up and you can compete at a higher level!
They did not honor our reservation and we had to wait. It was a busy night and it took 25 minutes to order a drink and then another 20 to get them. I would suggest that you not go on a busy night with an event at Sprint. My dinner was delicious. The appetizer was great. The other two entrees were just OK.
We have been to the Bristol several times. Food and service has always been excellent. This visit did not measure up to previous ones. My ahi was overcooked and my wife's grits sidedish was not nearly as tasty as before. Disappointed this visit, but probably will return.
We have eaten here regularly for years and have luxuriated in the delicious seafood in the heart of the Midwest. We planned A KC trip to celebrate our 25th anniversary and reserved here as a reliable favorite. Appetizers were as expected. There was a large group there and the 45 minute wait for entrees was no problem. However, my mussels were over cooked and lukewarm and the $30 small serving of my wife’s Antarctic butterfish was extremely over cooked and should not have been served. JSYK I have never posted a negative restaurant review. Ever.
We met friends, who were visiting from out to town. There were 10 of us. The food choices were amazing and across the board. If you don't fill your belly, it's your own darn fault. Our three grownup sons were with us and had a ball! We enjoyed the blooding mary bar, with assorted condiments. We will definitely return!
Ordered king salmon. Mashed potatoes left over from their thanksgiving buffet. They came to me runny and gummy like wallpaper paste. I had 2 and1/2 Brussel sprouts on my plate and a bunch of black leaves. Looked like leftovers also. Fish was cold and raw in the center. Talked with head chef in kitchen and he said all was normal. Talked with manager of restaurant that evening and she said it was not normal. Why is the manager not overlooking the food that leaves the kitchen? What else does a restaurant manager do? Restaurant only had a few people seated when we were there. Not busy at all. Don't know how they can charge the prices they do with such poor quality food. Will never go back without asking many questions before ordering.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Service was excellent, as it always has been. Food quality was way below expectations. Turkey and ham were dry, prime rib was way undercooked, and the cornbread & sausage stuffing was a soggy mess - and contained probably twice as many onions as it needed. Have spent quite a few Thanksgivings at this restaurant, but this was the first year we left disappointed and still hungry.
Eighth year for family Thanksgiving dinner-it would be nice to have a non-meat option like gourmet Mac and Cheese or a veggie stir-fry in the buffet. It’s also extremely dark in the restaurant, dark is nice but it’s a bit too dark I think. Yummy food, great service, lovely atmosphere.
We have eaten here several times and have enjoyed all our visits. The seafood is always wonderful. The ham and prime rib served was not. It was a buffet line and understandably more difficult to satisfy various preferences.
We were impressed with the "special" treatment given to us, by seating in a booth, with birthday greetings for my wife. The complimentary champagne was also a treat.
We received a birthday discount coupon for my wife, via e-mail, but did not attempt to use it because of the Thanksgiving Holiday buffet. It would have been extra special for that discount.
Nevertheless, we will be looking forward towards our next visit.

We went for the Thanksgiving buffet. We were treated to Bristol's normal Sunday brunch fare plus turkey, dressing and the traditional holiday fare. We were not disappointed. Despite a large crowd, Bristol staff kept the buffet tables fully, and did a great job of making us feel welcome.
