Bristol Seafood Grill – Downtown KC, Mo Ratings and Reviews
It was our wedding anniversary, we had a 9 PM reservation. The salad was nice, we were served our entrée the moment I finished my salad and my wife hadn't finished yet. Why the rush? The place was at least half empty by then. Our server took our order and that was the last time we saw him until we were just over half done with our entrée. I would think someone would ask if our salads were correct and good, but no. Same with the entrée. One of my sides was the lobster mac n cheese which was not hot at all and very bland surprisingly. It had come highly recommended by several friends. We didn't complain to our server, we saw no point since we were practically finished by then. Our server asked if we wanted dessert, we pointed out the card left on our table congratulating us on our anniversary and the offer on the card for a free dessert, he seemed to, just at that point realize it was a special occasion. The dessert was very good, probably the best thing we had. We both had the mixed grill as our entrée by the way, which was just fair. Shrimp was overcooked. Overall it was less than special, that's for sure.
NYE OURRESERVATION FOR 9 seated at 930. Restaurant cold. Kept coat on thruout meal. Valet parking on arrival- $35 had to walk to car after dinner 1 blk
Carrot cake marginal cold and stiff. Other foods good.
No refills on drinks water No biscuit/rolls to table had to ask for them- in short supply- only one per person.
One person in our party received her food 5-7 min after the rest of us. This happened with her drink as well!!
We have been to this restaurant numerous times and always enjoy the food and service. This time we experienced poor service from the moment that we checked in. We booked a table of 8 quite some time ago. When we arrived (shortly before booked time) we were confirmed for 8 yet taken to a table of 6. The host looked at us and said “uh well it’s a table of 6...but we could always pull up a chair to each end” we said that wasn’t acceptable. They had given the tables of 8 away to others. We had to be seated in the bar. There we received bar service which is of no comparison to dining side. We also had to sit by the door while it was 2 degrees out. Our server gave no care to us, not checking on us. We had to find her multiple times for drinks, orders, check. In turn, we were late to our concert due to this.
We've always enjoyed the food and service at this location, however, and maybe because it was NYE, both food quality and service were WAY off and not typical of the Bristol. The chilled seafood platter for 2-3 people at 59$ was awful- The smallest oysters and the 2 skinniest crab legs I've seen from the Bristol- and the calamari app was tons of battered veggies and minimal calamari. The cheddar biscuits were even only fair, at best and they are normally out of this world delicious!! It was a bigtime bummer and overall left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not sure how quick my husband and I will be, to go back. I am in hopes it was just an "off night."
Extreme let down!!! ugh!
Best brunch we have had - and of of course, the seafood, yum! Don't miss the waffles. LOVE how they support the community too - we were using a voucher we bought at a charity event. We might not have ever tried the brunch if we did not have the certificate.
Service was excellent. Very nice restaurant, loved the atmosphere. Food was excellent. Started off with the crab and corn fritters and they were amazing. I had filet and scallops and it was perfect. My husband had filet and lobster and the steak was cooked perfectly but the lobster was a little chewy. Only reason we scored 4/5 on food was because the lobster. Other than that everything was great. Will definitely be going back for date night again.
I used Open Table at the last minute to book a table for our anniversary. It was Christmas Eve. The app asked if there were any special instructions... All I put was it was - It's our anniversary anything to make it special. Special is what they made it. The table was decorated, They had a card on the table thanking us for choosing to celebrate with them. It offered us free champagne or a dessert. The staff was wonderful. Everyone was so nice. Each one we saw wished us a happy anniversary. The food was amazing and the service superb. Our server Khang was a delight. He was very informative and lead us to great dishes. We also had the opportunity to meet Zahra who was the manager on duty. She was very nice and professional. She made us feel welcome.
We enjoy the Sunday Brunch for special occasions, this time being Christmas Eve. The service was fabulous, but the food was not as exciting as I had hoped. The omelet station was not convenient, and the omelet/carving area was actually a very slow/long wait. The salad area felt limited particularly for a brunch menu. I don't believe that the Valet is actually a Bristol responsibility, but it took some time to get the attention of the Valet attendant to retrieve our car - he was more interested in what was happening on his phone than customers coming out of the restaurant.
We were very disappointed in our dinner. The food was less than par, very dry sides and tasteless. The fish was prepared well. My children had fries with their chicken and they were stale. We were very disappointed with our $300+ dinner - we've had better $50 meals.
A special night out with our 3 teenage boys for Christmas. We arrived 1 hr. early, but they were very accommodating. Scallops and crab cakes were superb. Lobster Mac and cheese is a must and mussels and calamari start the night right. Excellent calamari was not tough like I generally get when fried. They make it just lightly golden and perfect. Will come back again.
Service was very slow. Took us at least 10 minutes to even get water. Then another 10 to even get a drink order in. Throughout the meal our waitress kept disappearing. Food was wonderful as usual! It was my birthday so I was disappointed the meal was a bit soured by having to wait.
We went for the Sunday brunch. Good food and ambiance, but the kitchen was unable to keep up with the demand and most items were constantly out. It took us about 2 hours to get fed while waiting on items and fight through the feeding frenzy for the small portions brought out. The omelette station had no fresh eggs and the temporary burners setup on the bar took forever to cook an omelette, although it was prepared well. They would do well to limit the seating or improve kitchen efficiency.
Prices were high for the quality of the food. I ordered the grilled seafood combo, and although my scallops & salmon were good, my shrimp was overcooked & the crab cake was dry. The asparagus was very large & woody and mashed potatoes were dry & thick. For the price, I would have expected a better meal.
The reason I would come back is the service was excellent! The manager came & talked to us and was great as well. That is what is worth going back for.
I grew up on the East Coast and living in Kansas for 20 years, the opportunity for FRESH seafood is obviously rare. But that I can actually get oysters on the half shell, steamed clams and a variety of "fresh out of the sea" dishes is everything to me about this place. When I really crave the fresh taste of the sea, Bristol Seafood Grill is where I head. It's my restaurant of choice for my birthday celebration every single year, and this year was made extra special by the attention to detail and the wonderful staff!!
I was not impressed as the seafood and the whipped potatoes lacked flavor. We had a reservation for 7:00 and were seated at 7:20 and it took forever to get drinks. I definitely would not recommend the Bristol, especially for the price considering the overall quality. Unfortunately, I was disappointed.
