Bristol Seafood Grill – Downtown KC, Mo
We normally visit the Bristol before any event downtown and have had good success. However, we learned if the event is on a Sunday night, they don't take that into account and operate on low staff. The server was behind, the kitchen was behind, the food wasn't very good, the biscuits weren't fully baked, drinks weren't turned into re-fills, and we all walked away with upset stomachs. Not a good visit and will change our approach for future events.
We went on a Sunday night at 5:00 and it was a pretty light crowd. Since the restaurant wasn't full, we thought they seemed short on wait staff and the service took longer than we expected. For a week before Christmas, we thought they would have staffed up better. The food was great. The big problem occurred when we tried to get our car from the valet. There was NO ONE around for like 10 minutes. We went back into the restaurant twice to ask about them and were told that this isn't part of the restaurant. On the third trip in, we were provided a phone number of someone to call but when we called, the individual was very short and said he wasn't the manager of that valet. Finally someone showed up but we think he was pretty high and didn't seem very aware. We finally got the car and it was in fine shape. It was a bad enough experience that we'll think twice before eating here again.
Outstanding Brunch...very great service. The seafood was very fresh and the enchiladas were fantastic.
We had Sunday Brunch. The number of items available of high quality was very good. The service was attentive and helpful. The cold and hot foods are served in separate areas which made the lines very short. The presentation of the buffet was very good.
Perfect place to take old friends who were in town. If you are looking for a vibrant area, The Power and Light district is perfect. It’s still festive without the long waits and heavy traffic of the plaza. You will have a great experience.
Over cooked steak took forever to get a new one....not so great service forgot requests. Food was boring. My party was not impressed. Lackluster food and service. Men’s room was closed so we had to go to another restaurant to use the restrooms the whole evening. Not sure what the employees did. Too many choices will not return.
our server was great the manager was very nice we had a coupon for my birthday dinner we got a comp desert best yet some one paid for our meal the food was so good we took some home for lunch the next day and it was still good
since our meal was comped we paid it forward and gave some money to a person we knew had problems
Dinner at the Bristol is ALWAYS good! I had the Lobster Bisque which is always excellent, and the Calamari as an entree which was also good. My husband had the Cioppino, which he orders everytime he goes, he just loves it! We loved the fact that we could go a bit early 5:15pm dinner reservations as we had tickets to the symphony that evening. One cannot go wrong coming to the Bristol for great quality food!
Everything was good but a step away from excellent.
Christmas Dinner with good friends.
Terrific service and wait staff. Fast, good food, nice atmosphere and very efficient
It was my first time and my husband loved it. Nice place to get on our anniversary. Great service!
Was there for brunch. Service was awful. Waited 20 min for a glass of water - waiter was no where to be seen so finally bugged another waiter. Took forever to get the check and the check was wrong when I finally did get it. Food was fine. Ordered a cappuccino and it was awful. Big disappointment for what used to be a nice brunch place.
Terrible service. The absolute worst!
It was absolutely wonderful as it always is at Bristol! The atmosphere, service and food was outstanding!
We love the Bristol for before basketball games at the Sprint Center and for romantic special occasions.
This used to be our favorite "special occasion" restaurant. We headed over for a light dinner after the symphony. Ordered lobster bisque, crab cakes, lobster rolls, and lobster mac & cheese. Service was fine, but, with the exception of the bisque, everything was quite bland. Almost at the end of the meal, we realized that our server forgot to bring us the signature biscuits. Not sure we will return. The food just wasn't that great.
Wonderful place to meet friends for dinner..
went there on our anniversary through reservation with opentable. the staff could not find our reservation but gave us a table quickly.
the food was exceptional, the omelet cooked by Mark was absolutely delicious, nice chat with him too. the oyster, the tuna easily fed us up we didn't even looked at the hot food side.
We have eaten Sunday Brunch at this location many times, this particular sunday, the food was lacking in flavor, not sure I would choose to go back here again.
Made reservation online a few days before dinner. Open Table had box marked special occasion. I mentioned anniversary. When we arrived for dinner, we were seated at a table marked Reserved in front of their fireplace window wall. Nice! Table was sprinkled with little Valentines hearts and there was a card from management offering a free dessert! Our waitress arrived and told us Happy Anniversary and continued to take very good care of us. Dinner was excellent and dessert was awesome! Extremely impressed with care given. Wasn't much extra effort for them and meant so much to us. Bristol just guaranteed two customers for life!
excellent in every way except was VERY NOISY. Shrimp/scallop remoulade was outstanding.
Attentive service, delicious food and beautiful atmosphere made this a great visit and Birthday! Highly recommend Bristol downtown, especially for Lobster Bisque, Shrimp Cocktail and Scallops.
We chose Bristol to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. I will say that they do a great job at that! We had a decorated table complete with a *handwritten* Card wishing us a Happy Anniversary and gifting us with a free Champagne Toast or Dessert to share. The card alone was a lovely and unexpected gesture. The only negative was the service and the price point of the menu. Initially, the service was painfully slow. My Husband parked the car in a parking lot across I70 and first dropped me off at the door - it took him a good 15-20 minutes to walk back to the restaurant and in that time I still hadn’t been brought any menus nor drinks - not even water. The food was good but not great (with the exception of my Fish...it was amazing). We felt the appetizers and entrees should have been several dollars cheaper considering the portion and the presentation. The ambiance of the restaurant was gorgeous and we enjoyed the live acoustic Musician but our overall impression was that it was more of a nice happy hour spot and that for what we spent we could have had a better quality meal elsewhere.
The Bristol is a very consistent performer. Their staff is always well-trained and professional. While the food is not terribly adventuresome, it is always properly executed and tasty. I'll be back soon.
Great service and great food! Well worth the time. Waiter was excellent.
Went before the snowstorm, made us stand outside in the cold rather than open the door 3 minutes early and then we had to sit for 5 minutes to be seated. We were the only people there so I don’t understand the reason
Food was delicious! The atmosphere so nice. Service was perfect. Best steak I’ve had.
Very disappointing, food and service. Fish was dry, Cheese grits were horrible. Server was slow to check on us and it took over 15 minutes to get the check.
Great location and exceptional service. The swordfish and mussels were excellent.
Fantastic food and service!
Enjoyed a lunch celebrating 46 years with my Bride, staff, food and atmosphere was perfect
It was so lovely! Superior service and food!
The staff at the Bristol was so kind to us as we celebrated our engagement! Our server was cool about us taking all the time we wanted to enjoy our drinks, appetizers and the whole meal and told us that she was in no hurry. I've been a server and I know about the drive to flip tables. This was so kind of her. The restaurant also gifted us with a champagne toast to celebrate our engagement and they decorated our table with little heart confetti pieces. We loved our food and drinks and will definitely be back soon! Thank you for the lovely memory you helped us create!
Food was decent but service very poor. After waiting for about 20 minutes another server inquired if we had been helped. Stated that we were greeted and someone else brought us water. After inquiring 3 times with the bartender we did receive our beverage order. When our entrees arrived we were not given the tools to remove the shells off our long crab. Made a reservation, got seated on time but left over 1.5 hours later. Very little attention from our sever Antoine.
The food was quite good. Unfortunately we were the last table seated and we could tell when we got to the food. A few of the dishes were almost empty and the food was lukewarm. That was very disappointing. We paid the same as all of the other patrons but felt like we were getting the leftovers in some cases.
The food was very good but would have tasted much better hot. If we were to go again next year we would book very early so we could get an earlier reservation.
Went for Thanksgiving meal. The restaurant was slammed. We waited an hour after our reservation was due. Food was good when it was available. Plates were slow to be available. Our waitress CoriAnn was fantastic.
We were there for the Thanksgiving buffet. Our reservation was at 5:15 and we were sat a little after 6. We were a bit upset that we had to wait almost an hour for our table, but we understood they were very busy and also working on Thanksgiving. Once we were sat, the hostess gave us two cards with $20 off our next $50 purchase. Our server was very friendly. The buffet was good- turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, green beans, and prime rib and ham being sliced fresh. There was also a cold buffet that consisted of different salads, cocktail shrimp, smoked salmon, and oysters on the half shell. For dessert, the buffet had pumpkin pie, carrot cake, creme brûlée, and bread pudding.
This only applies to their Thanksgiving brunch. It was crazy busy. We made reservations and still had a 30 minute wait. It’s a beautiful restaurant and the food was good. However, they did run out of the prime rib several times and I was told it was because they never know how many people to expect. For this visit, I would say it was only average, but I would definitely be willing to try it on a less crazy day.
In KC for a long weekend and choose this location for our Thanksgiving dinner. Wonderful place for it too. Great service and Sea food was top notch, would be here again soon.
