Terrible experience. Bristol Leawood is our “go to” restaurant. We had tickets to the Eagles concert so decided to try Power and Light location. We had a reservation and were seated in bar area. Service was slow and unresponsive. I had to ask for biscuits which finally came out with meal. Meals were served immediately after we got our salads. My wife’s Mahi Mahi was raw and we sent it back. The same fish was brought back overcooked and dried out. Whole plate microwave or oven? Ordered Irish coffee and waited 15 minutes. It was served lukewarm with cream already absorbed. I wouldn’t recommend this location.
Dinner before Eagles concert
The seafood selection on the Sunday brunch was amazing! Can't wait for my next visit to Kansas City to dine here again!
Almost every concert we attend at the Sprint Center we eat at Bristol. We have always had great service and excellent food. Not so much this time. My steak can out rare and I ordered it medium well (little pink). It was so rare blood was all over my potatoes. I took two bites and couldn’t eat anymore. I had to stop our waitress to have to take it back to be cooked more. I was only able to eat one or two more bites. I was completely grossed out by the rareness and blood. Our waitress never came back to ask if the steak was ok. She should of noticed that 90% of the steak was still on my plate. Not going to be dining with Bristol anymore.
Food/service was fantastic! Sides selections, well you need more, plan selections. And I would love to see a couple more different shrimp meal options. On thing we had trouble with, it was so dark you could not see the menu. I seen others using their cell phones to light up the menus. Again my salmon was cooked to perfection!!!
Server was attentive but did not hover. Pace of the meal was perfect for catching up with old friends. Bar staff was equally accommodating.
Good food and service, say us fast!!
Second course was served before my soup and taken back so I ate my soup then the main dish was served - not even warm. Loud place with acoustic carrying the noice level. Had no utensils for some time etc. etc. very expensive and very poor wine selection- Walmart level.
We had dinner before the Pink concert. The service was slow but not surprised because the restaurant was very busy. The food was great.
Horrible service. Normally love the Bristol but was highly disappointed. Waiter never came to check after meal was delivered. Meals were incorrect and never got the change to order new drinks. They offered free dessert which took 30 min to get. Not impressed!
We were stuck in pre-concert traffic and they held our table for us for 25 minutes! We appreciated it! Food was wonderful as always.
Overall, pretty good. They did some dishes exceptionally well, and some dishes were average. A little pricey based on the quality of some dishes, but worth it.
My friends and I recently (3/2018) dines at the Bristol after a KC Rep performance at the Copaken stage. We've previously enjoyed our meals, but this experience was lacking. Where to start? 1: There was no tuna. Apparently the attendees of the Big 12 tourney had eaten all of it, though our waitstaff indicated they'd eaten mostly fish and chips. That laid aside the plans of 2 of us. 2) The ordering and delivery was not coordinated. Though I'd indicated my meal would be a starter (planned on tuna, settled for ceviche, which -#3 was not spicy since the jalapeños were waxy and tasteless) and salad, waitress took 1 order for a soup. So, the rest of us found ourselves ordering what we wanted at her next visit, hoping the delivery would be at least a bit staged (it was). #4 This one is petty since the biscuits are "complementary." However, they are desired by a friend or 2 and (not the first time for DT location), we had to request them repeatedly. #5 More than once did we have to enquire about the discount for KC Rep patrons.
This place has an attitude. I have been here multiple times and the front desk staff always makes it seem like they're doing you a BIG favor seating you. They routinely ignore any specified requests on Open Table. The wait staff are clearly overwhelmed by the Sunday brunch. The habit of diners to load up their plates must be a realization that the kitchen is unable to keep up with demand. If you're dining it's fine, but routinely the food stations go long periods of time empty and any request to the staff to check on refilling them is often met with looks of derision. The management is apparently lacking in their oversight.
While we enjoyed the brunch, it really hasn't changed since the last time we had brunch and that has been several years ago. The cold side was just okay and the warm side was good but nothing really stood out. Might be time to make some changes with the brunch since it is $30.00 a person. Still like Bristol and the atmosphere.
Have previously been happy with the food and service. Unfortunately the service this visit was poor.
Food is always great. This particular evening was bad. Ordered steak med, came out well done. Lobster was like rubber. Mashed potatoes on both our orders looked like wall paper paste.
Very disappointed as our bill was over $200 for 3 people to have our meal turn out this way.
Very good food; never disappointed. Great for dining before events at the Sprint Center.
We went for an early dinner before the second session basketball games for the Big 12 Basketball Tournament T the Sprint Center. We had limited time--but still wanted a great meal. We were not disappointed. We were served quickly and the food was terrific!
Delicious seafood and steak. Great service!
Our dinner was very tasteful. The atmosphere was very nice and relaxing.
Great service and waiter was very attentive!
We dine here once a year when we attend B.B. tournament. We started we calamari which was not good. It was a very large portion but soggy. My husband had mixed seafood grill which he was stated was good but not great. I had lobster tail which was good, but I preferred grilled. The mashed potatoes were very good, but the asparagus tough. The bread was cold. The dessert was an apple turnover which was doughy. Service was great. Love the atmosphere. Maybe it was off, because of the B.B. tournament. We will be back next year, because overall enjoyed it.
We try to dine at Bristol’s each time that we come to KC, usually at the Leawood location. On this night we chose the P&L location because of time and the fact that we were going to a Big 12 Tournament game. We had made a reservation and were immediately seated. There was a private event going on in the bar area. which was very loud. Then part way through our dinner there was a ten minute program using a loudspeaker. We consider the Bristol as upscale dining and the noise from this private event did not lend to a pleasant dining experience as conversation was difficult. Diappointing!
The food and service was very good. the restaurant has numerous entrée selections and a comprehensive wine list. Unfortunately we chose an night for the Opera that was the same night as a pep rally in the restaurant for the NCAA tournament. Noise level was unbearable and the place reminded me of a sports bar.
I have eaten here before and the food and service was very good, but as with this trip the noise was a problem then as well.
Service was amazing. Nicole did a great job with our group.
My husband and I were celebrating my birthday and when we arrived they had the table all ready for us. There were decorations on the table and a nice handwritten birthday card. They offered a free drink to toast or a free dessert. We don’t drink so we chose the dessert. After s nice dinner they brought out the dessert of my choice with a candle in it. The service was great. My only complaint would be that we each only got one of their famous biscuits served to us and as a long time patron were used to them coming until we tell them to stop. It was a nice evening though.
We went early for Happy Hour to have the $1 oysters and then dinner. The oysters were good for being in Kansas City. Dinner was excellent. My only complaint would be that the service was slower than I would expect for this type of restaurant. All is all, I will go back!
Birthday dinner for my wife. Great food. Great service. Worked great.
Second time visiting this location for brunch. Have been to South KC site also. Fantastic brunch options, great food and great friends to spend a lovely birthday gathering together.
Excellent selection of brunch dishes. Our service lacked some attentiveness but was adequate. It would be helpful if the omelet station was separated from the prime rib and ham service. That combination slowed things down.
Overall experience was great. The food was amazing and service was quick. I would highly recommend for Sunday brunch.
Manager was fantastic!! Service was poor. Food is a always wonderful! I think the out south one is better.
First time there and it was absolutely awesome. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very helpful, we will return!
The atmosphere was very relaxing and chic. The service was excellent - appropriate and non-invasive. The food was really noteworthy. I'd definitely go again next time I'm in that city.
Great job by all
I had the chicken which was outstanding! I got carrot cake to go because I can't go to the Bristol and not get it.
Steve was excellent
I love the Bristol in Leawood, KS and have had many great experiences there. I have been to the downtown KC location a couple of times and this time was the worst and won't be back. The hostess didn't seat us; just told us to sit anywhere in the bar. Most of the booths were dirty so we had to go back to ask her to clean a booth in order to sit down. Waitress was nice but service was lacking, had to request biscuits (didn't appear anyone around us had them). Service was slow for not very crowded lunch. The food was ok, we both ordered parmesan potatoes as a side and they were soggy and greasy; fish and veggies were fine (not stellar). Just wasn't an upscale experience as the prices reflect and as I am accustomed to at the Leawood location. Won't be back to the Power and Light location but will go back to Leawood.
Delicious brunch! Hope they continue the bottomless mimosas for $10. Service wasn’t great, but the food made up for it
