Bristol Seafood Grill – Downtown KC, Mo
Poor waitress was terribly over worked. Took 30 minutes to get our 1st round of drinks. We were recommended oysters that they were out of. They were also out of grits. Lobster was horribly overcooked. Never had anyone come make sure everything was ok. Creme brulee was still really cold. Seemed very understaffed. Highly disappointed. Not the birthday dinner I was looking forward to and was definitely not worth the 275 plus tip that we paid.
Ordered MahiMahi. Wasn't done . The lobster bisque was great
We had the lobster bisque for an appetizer, which was smooth, creamy and delicious. The entree was a filet and lobster tail with roasted Brussels sprouts and lobster mac. The filet and lobster were cooked perfectly and so mouthwatering.
The service was impeccable even though the entire restaurant was booked (Valentines Day) and our reservation was for 9:30pm. The wait staff had to be exhausted but they didn’t let it show. We had a new waitress who was in training. She was phenomenal, very attentive, very good conversationalist and knew the menu well.
The price with drinks was about what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. I would definitely recommend it for a special occasion or date night.
Went on Valentine’s Day. Ended up waiting 30 minutes to make an order and then another hour before we got our food. Once the food arrived it was cold and mediocre at best. Just overall wasn’t worth the price we paid. Which makes it hard to justify going again in the future. In the services defense they did recognize how long our wait was and tried to smooth it over with a free dessert.
Reservation required but there was a fifteen minute wait. Appeared that they threw in a few extra tables to accommodate Valentine's Day. Out table was almost in the front hallway and was quite cool with people coming and going through the front door. There was little space between the table next to us and behind us, people seated at the back of the room kept squeezing through. The food was very good, drinks were very high priced. I am sure it would have been a better experience on a "regular" evening.
My previous experiences have all been good. Did not see the server enough. We would have ordered a second round of drinks if she had come back by sooner. Food was delivered cool. I expected my Ahi tuna to be cool as it was seared. My wife and friends surf and turfs were cool as well. I pointed it out to our server and she offered to bring warmed sides but we had to move on to our event. We could not wait. Took a long time to get our check and to get it processed. I realize it was valentines day and the restaurant was busy but this was not a good experience.
hadn't been in quite a long time. everything was great even on a really crowded night of Elton John concert
The mussels were divine. Our swordfish entrees beautifully prepared. Brussel sprouts and slaw delicious. Topped off with a wonderful carrot cake. Overall fabulous date night even with the Elton John crowd.
Food was great - place was hopping prior to Elton John concert!
Always wonderful service! Food was good as well as drinks.
This was one of the best evenings. The food was outstanding the staff went over and above to make our day special since we were celebrating my birthday and our anniversary. It is Avery nice place and I would recommend it to anyone.
Great experience, service, and food. Wife and I had a date night and went on a Tuesday evening but the place was very quiet and not busy due to the weather. The server was fun and very attentive. Overall we had a great time. Valet, to no fault of Bristol. could update their technology to accept credit cards for payment. Without cash, you have to use an ATM next door that has a $4.00 fee. I do think maybe Bristol could influence the Valet service to upgrade for efficiency.
Both times my husband and I have dined there with friends, we have had early reservations following a performance at the Kauffman Center. The staff who work at the front desk are dismissive and not at all customer service oriented. In advance of our reservation time, we called to inquire if we were able to enter the restaurant early and were told no we open at 4 and then the call was terminated. When we arrive at 4 there were already patrons seated. We asked why there were people there before the opening and were told that some of them got out of the performance early and were just waiting in their booth/table until serving began. We inquired as to why we were told something different and were given a very cursory and short answer.
Our waiter was great so no complaint there. But I will not be returning to this location due to the poor attitude on two different occasions for the same issue with the front desk.
My husband and I always enjoy Bristol, that is why we make it our go to place for a special occasion. Our waitress was extremely pleasant, Lexi was her name. We would definitely recommend her.
Great service food was wonderful but there wasn’t much of it 80 percent of the buffet trays were empty and remained so throughout loud group behind us
The Sunday seafood brunch was excellent. Lots of interesting items for a very reasonable price. We'll definitely be returning.
We loved Bristol! Fair prices, great service, and they even left us a handwritten note for our anniversary! Free champagne and desert as well. Great experience!
Surprisingly mediocre experience at one of my long time favorite restaurants. The food was excellent as usual, but service was atrocious and far below the Bristol’s standard. We were so rushed through our meal that we didn’t dare put a glass or silverware down or it would be whisked off the table without a question as to whether we were finished.
We are from Illinois, and we are glad we are here at Bristol's. We ate at the bar. And the bartender was great! Oysters were great! Food was amazing! Good variety of beer and wine. We would definitely come back here again if we are ever in KC again.
Date night and attend a concert.
Terrific service and the food was exceptional- as usual!
Great meal and top notch service! Highly recommend for lunch.
Great seafood in the Midwest - it IS possible.
Loved the food. I had the seafood sampler. The ambiance was very nice. Service great! Very nice restaurant for a nice or any occasion. Can’t wait to go back!
Went for brunch. Food and service great. Bloody mary “bar” was pretty disappointing/unimpressive
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Just what we want when we go out for dinner!
Went to dinner here for my Finance's birthday, I let them know ahead of time and they had a birthday card waiting at our table for her as well as free dessert. Our fish was great and so was the service.
Bristol customer service, atmosphere, ambiance, noise level and general experience was very good. The food quality was also very good, but the serving portions were pretty meager, especially at $15-20 a head. We all had soup and/or salad dishes and I never like to still feel hungry after lunch or dinner. I will go back to The Bristol, especially when wanting seafood - but the price / quantity ratio may hold me back...Dave
We have been to this location before and really enjoyed. This past Saturday the service was so slow, did not clear empty dishes off the table , hardly saw our waitress, and the chocolate cake for desert was so dry it was not edible.
Mixed feelings about going back as this is a nice restaurant and for the price expect better
Our server, Damion, did a very good job! The bread server that night was especially fun as well. Food was so much better than our last visit. And the birthday carrot cake was a nice surprise as well.
Dinner with the family. Food was great, and we caught the end of the restaurant week menu. Live music was staring up as we were finishing, I’m not a fan of mixing the bar band with dining out.
I am really glad that Bristol decided to extend its Restaurant week menu. The value is unbeatable. I had the lobster bisque and lobster Mac and cheese for lunch and both were super delicious. Our server did a great job. It was a great overall experience as I've come to expect at Bristol. Can't wait to go back.
Our server Ciara was very attentive, professional, and nice. I have had her as a server before and she was great then too! The lobster bisque was out of this world per usual and the lobster mac and cheese was creamy and delightful also, even good reheated later I just added a small bit of water. Will definitely be back. Keep up the great work team Bristol!
I had been craving your grits for a week, only to order them and be told you are out of them. Also, do you all not serve biscuits anymore? I know the Leawood location does. Everything we had was good, but not quite up to the 5/5 caliber that I’ve come to expect from Bristol.
We visited on a Monday... Not sure if that matters. The drinks we got at the bar were very good. I ordered some oysters that were seemed frozen in the center. They were not very tasty but perhaps that was the fault of temperature. We ordered the calamari and beet salad, both were good. The entree (Butterfish and Surf and Turf) were just "okay". Both dished were overpowered by the mesquite grill flavor... That was all you really tasted. The scallops were small and slightly over done. The Filet was cooked too a perfect med rare but, again, over powered by the mesquite.
We went due to the set menu for Restaurant Week. We wanted to try the location without having to worry about price and not liking it. The food was wonderful and worth the price!
My fiancée and I went here during restaurant week in KC and loved this place. We got crab cakes and Maui Maui.
Took 5 people for brunch and were told they “had a run on brunch” and were out of many things. How do you run out of bacon @ brunch? The serving areas looked empty with food dried on serving utensils.
Came for restaurant week but they were not offering it during brunch so we left.
