Bristol Seafood Grill - Creve Coeur Ratings and Reviews
My boyfriend and I went to Bristol after several recommendations. We had high hopes, especially after the appetizers and the salad. The bruschetta is fantastic, the shrimp scampi was great and the salad was delicious. I ordered the King Crab Legs, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My sides were the cauliflower and parmesan roasted potatoes and they were great, too.
Where things went south was with my boyfriend's meal. He ordered the 6oz filet, cooked medium and the lobster tail with mashed potatoes as his side. When they delivered his meal, they brought the lobster tail and potatoes and asked if we needed anything else. We pointed out that we were missing a filet. One was delivered fairly quickly, but when he cut into it, it was definitely rare. When I asked how his potatoes were he said they were cold. He tends to be pickier than me so I tasted them, thinking they would probably be mildly warm. They were actually cold, like they had not been under the heat lamp or wherever they keep them before they're delivered to the table. So when our waiter came back we told him about the steak and the potatoes. He took them away and said he would get the problems fixed. They brought new potatoes, which were hot, but then they re-delivered my boyfriend's steak. They had put it back on the grill and managed to char the outside some more, but still did not cook it properly, and by this time, having been taken off the grill and put back on, it was not good.
With two cocktails, our dinner came to just over $200. Had the meal been good it might have been justifiable, but with bad food it just left a bad taste in our mouth. We eat at a lot of nice steakhouses in STL and Nashville (Kayne Prime, Ruth's Chris, Jeff Ruby's, etc, with The Palm being our favorite). We both agreed the meal was not worth the price, especially with all the problems we experienced. We really wanted to like it but decided we would probably try other places instead of returning to Bristol.
food was awful, not just bad, terrible in multiple ways, was a real fan of the establishment but no longer, every meal ordered was poor quality and over price, I had meals at low end seafood restraunts with more flavor and freshness than this place, very disappointing for what could have been a lovely evening.
It was very nice. Everyone was so pleasant. I liked how it was set up very elegant. It was my guy friend birthday and we wanted to do something different. The waiter was nice she brought him some ice cream and cookies with a candle in it. Johnny and I will be returning.
We had a table for 6 in a private room with a curtain. Perfect for conversation and sharing family photos as we celebrated parent’s anniversary. Sunday brunch offered something delicious for everyone’s taste. We will definitely consider Bristol’s for our next special occasion.
I've been to Bristol many times - always enjoyable. This time I was joined for lunch by friends visiting from Boston. We had a reservation, and were seated promptly. Our server was friendly, helpful, and efficient. We were able to have an extended conversation without ever feeling as though the wait staff was rushing us. The food was delicious, well-presented, and well-prepared. The menu is extensive, and should satisfy most customers, especially seafood lovers. Prices are commensurate with the service, food, and ambiance offered. Whether it is for a special occasion or a casual meal, I can always recommend Bristol.
We were a little concerned that the food might be bland after some of the reviews we read, but it was anything but! Ordered the 6oz steak, Ahi tuna, pretzel crusted trout & lava cake to round out the meal. All were very nicely seasoned & cooked. Only negatives were that the parking is dreadful, the meal did take a while to arrive (we were checked on regularly & given their biscuits & sweet butter). I like my green beans crisp - they were not so & the second round of biscuits (after meal arrived) were over cooked. Getting that out of the way everything else was delicious. The flavors were right on point & everyone said the restaurant made the short list & we'll all be back again.
Bristol's was highly recommended by a friend who's lived in St. Louis for over 30 years. My cousin and husband are visiting from California so we decided to take here there to celebrate her birthday. She wanted King crab, and she certainly got it! Her husband had scallops, and they were the best any of have ever tasted. I had the lump crab cakes which were delicious. A bottle of Pinos Gris to go along with the seafood was wonderful. We stopped at the bar to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. Bartender was great, and even made a special drink for my cousin for her birthday. I had a Sazarak...was fabulous! A must-visit bar and restaurant!
We visited Bristol for Sunday brunch. The food was excellent. There were a lot of choices and everything was delicious. We also had very good service. The server was attentive and but intrusive. The decor could use updating, though. The fabric on the booths is worn and it's a bit dark inside.
When booking the reservation, I requested a private room, if one was available. My expectations were surpassed when we were seated in the private dining room for 10. Our party had a great time celebrating two birthdays and the food and service were top notch as always. Thank you!
Not a good night this time at Bristol's, probably been here over 50 times. Very up and down over the years. Bristol's reminds me of Busch Stadium, some prime seating, some outfield upper deck, a wide variation. Tonight we were right in the kitchen/service area, top row, upper deck, in right field. I bet there were not 10 minutes all night in which there were not 8-12 staff within 10 feet, plus others whizzing by. We got to watch them struggle to work (it was crowded) and argue among themselves. The three closest tables (those would be the 2nd, 3rd and 4th worst tables in the place) were empty, even though when we checked in others w/o reservations were told they were booked and to sit in the bar. Maybe they were short staffed.
Service was slow, but to be fair, our guy had other tables on the other side of the restaurant.
The swordfish came out rare to raw. Our waiter was not in sight, so after a while flagged down another to send it back, with instructions to take mine and keep it warm until the other was cooked. A manager came by and apologized, then our waiter did. Someone else brought it back 20 minutes later with a different piece of fish, 60%, maybe 70%, the size of the first one. Vegetables were cold. My fish was all chopped up and dry, maybe they cooked it again(?).
Really, unacceptable in a high end place, or what used to be. No dessert menu. They should have comped the swordfish, or at least offered a free drink or dessert, maybe all the above. Mistakes happen, make it right. That's on the manager. Overall, a terrible experience. Too many outstanding restaurants in St. Louis so it will be a while before we go back. Used to be a favorite. Wasted $140 with Bel Lago just down the street.
On the plus side, there was one, the crab cakes are the best, better than anywhere else in town.
You would think OpenTable customers would get good service, as they know the opportunity to rate them and provide a review exists. Guess not.
We were meeting there at noon for New Year’s Day brunch. Got dressed up and got up there on time. Trouble was - they were closed due to a frozen pipe break. I get that but I wish the reservation site had a notification system if something catastrophic happens that closes the entire restaurant for the day. That was upsetting. Happy New Year!
Not sure how to rate since we didn’t eat here. We were really looking forward to New Year’s Day brunch, however their sprinkler system froze and the fire department would not let them open. They did call us 15 minutes prior to our reservation to let us know.
Bristol's Seafood Grill is terrific. The service is friendly but not cloying. They have the best variety of seafood from all over the world. I even like their side dishes which are just a little out of the ordinary and delicious. Try the Mixed Seafood Grill!! It's the BEST. You get scallops with large shrimp curved around them, a big delicious crab cake which is almost entirely crab meat. Then you have grilled salmon and asparagus plus Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. They come around with freshly baked biscuits and flavored butter. The entire dish is outstanding. And the entire restaurant is outstanding.
The occasion was New Year's Eve with friends. We were greeted and seated promptly. We were immediately greeted by our waiter. He offered the selection of wine, beer and mixed drinks. We ordered our drinks, there was a slight problem in regard to the Jameson i chose, being out of stock, so i chose Bushmill. Our drinks were served to us and then we made our selection for appetizers and the main course. The service was diligent. The food was very tasty and we only had one problem out of four people eating. My wife's potatoes were cold, but the rest of the food was good, so we just let the cold potatoes issue go un-reported. All in all the service on a scale of 1-10 ended of being a 12. We are dedicated customers, and we will be back.
We went for Sunday brunch, which I highly recommend. The food is absolutely fantastic and the service is stellar. The wait staff makes you feel comfortable and are not intrusive. They know when they are needed and your glass will stay full and there wont be any dirty plates on your table.
We love the quiet, warm decor and of course the food. We especially like the fish selections and seafood bisque. What brings us back more often than not is our server Tony. He's always a friendly and familiar face and treats us like we're the only ones in the restaurant. Great job all around! We love Bristol.
