Bristol Restaurant and Bar - Four Seasons Hotel Boston Ratings and Reviews
The food was excellent - that has not changed. However, I have been to the Bristol Lounge many many times over the years and this was a pretty disappointing experience. The service was okay. The staff were very polite, but not terribly good at their jobs. At least three times they brought food to the table and delivered it to the wrong person. In the past I have experienced exemplary service that stood up to the very high prices for the food. I don't mind the price when everything is perfect. But when a 5 star hotel is delivering 3 star service, it just does not stand up. There were also food items listed on the menu were not available. And when I visited the bathroom, there was nowhere to hang up my jacket.
That all said, our family enjoyed our time. I think we will try the Ritz next time.
We have attended or held many events at the 4 Seasons and none, including the Bristol Lounge, have ever disappointed. It has become our neighborhood place to go for a weekend lunch. a family dinner or business meetings. I can't imagine where we would go if it didn't exist.
Thanks to all the employees, from the front door to the manager, who are always welcoming and truly professional.
Bristol provides an elegant venue for entertaining visitors. We dined with excellent service and lovely views of Boston Public Garden. Our waiter, Ricardo, steered us graciously toward Brunch menu items suiting our tastes and mood. Bristol has become one of our top "go-to" venues for special occasions in downtown Boston.
We had a pleasant experience. The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated for Christmas & gets you in the festive mood.
We got there fairly early for lunch (11:20am) & ordered salad and hamburger. The salad came out first, however it took quite some time for the burger to come out. I had allocated a good 1 & 1/2 hours for lunch (pre-ballet show). However, we were pressed for time. I wanted to treat my daughter to dessert afterwards. But, we ran out of time, it was 1 PM when we finished & paid (no time for dessert or coffee, maybe its a good thing, less calories to consume). Our waiter was pleasant & professional. However, i was slightly disappointed that the large party next to us came in after us & they were served and left before us. While we were there hoping to order a sweet treat, but would have missed the nutcracker show if we did.
They have a good kids menu. My daughter had caesar salad & chicken with carrots & potatoes. Good quality comfort food.
Next time I will allocate 2 hours for a relaxing lunch! They certainly didn't rush us.
Excellent food, excellent service in a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Warm fire glowing, tables spaced so you can move and hear each other speaking. Way better than overcrowded local favorites. A gem in the heart of the busy city, thank you for an excellent evening!
The food was superb: skate wing was perfectly prepared and delicious, clam chowder as good as any I’ve had anywhere (including the best on the Cape), mussels were cooked to perfection, and the
deserts (creme brûlée and flourless chocolate cake - gluten free for my friend) were delicious. If I could give the experience six stars, I would. 1 1/2 hrs after closing, the service continued to be gracious, unhurried, and as Old World perfect as it had been all night. It doesn’t get any better than this. Bravo!
We have been coming to the Bristol Lounge for years for both personal and professional gatherings .We love it!
The service has been terrific and we want to commend Biaggio our favorite waiter for his excellent service . He is professional, knowledgeable, remembers our food and drink preferences and always provides a fantastic food recommendation when we need it.
His sense of humor is spectacular. Biaggio should be commended by the Bristol Lounge Administrators for his superb professionalism.
The staff was superb, working seamlessly as a team. They were great with our 12 and 13 year old kids, suggesting chocolate milk and hot chocolate. Two bacon and cheese omelets were great. Jalapeño pepper polenta waffles and chicken are definitely worth trying.
Superb dinner for six. Everyone enjoyed everything immensely. Highlights were mussels, clam chowder, and steaks - filet mignon and NY strip. Fritte-style sides, arugula and parmigian truffle fries also noteworthy. Excellent cocktails, including tequila-Pimms mix, and wine list. Turley Juvenile zin was scrumptious. Great team service.
We were celebrating our daughter's MA Bar swearing-in. What a lovely place to celebrate! Attentive/courteous service, beautiful atmosphere and ambiance, great views of Boston Common, and the best burger ever! Staff even brought my daughter a slice of cake with a celebratory candle and "Congratulations" written in chocolate! Wonderful place to dine and share a special occasion!
I had heard good things about Bristol Lounge, so we gave it a try. I think it is best appreciated as a bar. The seated dinner menu is good but quite expensive (no surprise in the Four Seasons). I ordered a beet salad that was good, then the Arctic Char. If you order a grill item, you need to order sides to accompany it, which gets pricey. Our waiter was very professional and pleasant.
Everything top-of-the-line. Service perfect. Various kinds of food options. Super-expensive: occasions are honored by the more 'old-fashioned' but not TOO 'old-fashioned' combination of city/ European/old-Ritz style with modern elements such as food choices, a less formal ( seeming) service, and sofa and chair with coffee table "lounge-like seating. The ambiance is definitely special occasion or, equally, it could just be "I'm in this Back Bay area a lot; I like a super lovely bar and overall elegant but also cozy dining room; money is no problem." The only downside: on the Saturday night we went, the often feel-good, trendy-feeling chatter was one level above the noise-level which is fine me, that is, it was just a tiny bit too noisy for ease of conversation on a special occasion with old friends probably because there are a lot of harder modern surfaces like a marble tile oval floor in the center, maybe marble tables with fewer plush draperies or carpets to absorb noise.
Bristol at the Four Seasons lived up to our expectations . Worth every penny we spent IMHO. The pumpkin ice cream dessert is incredible. Drinks well made. Service is outstanding. When we want a quieter atmosphere for a bar and restaurant, at our age, the Bristol is the best! However, my wife and I were amazed at the number of young professionals ( ages 25-40) that were dining there also. I must admit I was very upset when the Four Seasons closed their restaurant and remodeled (8 years ago?) as well as the Fairmont Oak Room and Omni Parker house. I now take back what I said about the management destroying tradition. They obviously know more about marketing to the modern clientele than I do.
On loud side but it was a Friday night - menu was more limited than expected - been wanting to go for a while but nothing special though it’s a nice option if you’re staying there (which we weren’t) - conveniently located but I think there are better options for the same vibe
This has been my daughter's and my favorite
place to Brunch for our annual mother / daughter weekend. This past weekend was our 5th experience! We have always been lucky in being seated at a window table & enjoy the peaceful , respectful atmosphere set by the Four Seasons .
We were met by a very pleasant enthusiastic host/ hostess team who immediately greeted us with smiles and salutations; shortly after our waiter came to welcome us.
It was the crying and screaming babies & toddlers that really "harshed our mellow" which obviously is not in your control
Suggestion: perhaps a delicately worded sign welcoming all & request to be mindful of others' dining experience?!
Also, no dress code? Cut off shorts on adults....?
No doubt we will be back this is really more to vent than be critical of a very favorite place!
Overall an excellent lunch buffet. It doesn't quite match the variety of the Taj rooftop brunch, but it's excellent overall. The Smoked Salmon was excellent. As a side note..try putting a small bowel of Crème Fresh with the Salmon. It adds a nice touch. Also there are "smaller" sizes capers available(we use them in our business) Shrimp were the largest I've ever seen at a buffet. Very nice. The Oysters were not that great, however, the only small let down. The Risotto was excellent. Best I've had in a while. Very creamy. The Omelet station was excellent. Great variety. The desserts were very decadent. Bread pudding was very nice. I loved the sticky buns & the Blueberry cream Éclairs. Overall a very nice relaxing early afternoon!
