This neighborhood hangout welcomes all and leaves pretension at the door. The low-key design and elevated standards of service allow the food to speak for itself, and Manager Gissele Tache and her staff are always on hand to recommend an adventurous catch, a fine bottle of wine, or a sweet after-dinner treat.

We went to Brine for a birthday celebration, and we all love the experience. The food was excellent. Our waitress Brianna was very knowledgeable and attentive. What a gem this restaurant is in Newburyport.
The best spot in town for oysters and wine. Enjoyed a perfectly cooked filet steak as well tonight. Wine list is unbeatable!
Wonderful date night in Newburyport starting with dinner at Brine. Service was top notch, knowledgeable, gracious and friendly. Place buzzes with people happy with food and drinks. Chowder, carrot soup, oysters, the rib eye is best steak ever which is surprising to find at a seafood restaurant. Terrific time.
The Striped Bass was absolutely delicious and Sully, our server, was excellent. In fact multiple staff came by our table to check on us throughout the evening.
Portions were small but the food was fantastic. Love the wine selection. Tried a new wine that is now my favorite!
Excellent choices for small plates, prompt friendly server, great cocktails and wine choices. My wife prefers vegetarian/fish and I enjoy all foods, so we were both happy. We did choose to dine outside as inside was "hopping" *a bit too noisy for us).
Not that I needed the reminder, but every visit to Brine reminds me why it’s my favorite restaurant (truly) ever.
This is our favorite place! The best steak you have had and my wife loves their seafood. It’s the perfect surf and turf.
Nice enough place but prices were too high for the overall experience. Won’t be rushing back.
My friends live out of the country and a summer dinner at Brine has become our tradition.
We went to dinner to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant was on the small side and a little noisy. With more of an industrial feel than fine dining. But I have to say the the service and food was excellent. My husband was interested in trying the caviar, our waitress Brianna took the time to explain all the options and different types of caviar available. My husband also had the oyster and said they we amazing. I had the tuna Crudo and lobster bake both were delicious.
This was my first time dining at this restaurant. The food was good but I felt very overpriced. The portions were small. The server brought out to very tiny pieces of bread with some olive oil. They were about two bites each. If you wanted more, it is $2.50 extra.
For the $150.00 it cost me for two, having to pay $2.50 extra for two bites of bread is rediculous.
The menu was very limited and overpriced. The wine list was good but very pricey with very few glasses of wine offered, mostly full bottles.
I don't think I will be back there any time soon. They also like to rush you since it is a small place.
Food is expertly crafted and service is excellent. The wine list is not extensive but has quality selections.
Brine is a favorite of ours for its fresh, inventive use of local vegetables, seafood, and meats. The oysters are amazing, and each meal is prepared simply yet elegantly. The wait staff is extremely knowledgable about the plates, as well as the wines to accompany the dish.
Great, accessible menu. Food is fantastic! Outdoor seating right on State st. Oysters were great. Mignonette and aolies really good.
We came here after seeing Shrek the Musical. We arrived a few minutes before dinner started 3:55 PM. Food was very good but service was extremely poor. We did not get our entrees until 5:20 PM.
This was our second visit. Sadly it was not as good as the first but this has nothing to do with the food. Everyone was happy with their meals- chowder and local greens, fish tacos and a brisket soft-shell sandwich. However, out favorite beer, Brown Hog Ale, was no longer there. And the music was way too loud. When I asked them to lower it they did and explained it was loud to attract people to come inside. I'm not sure that's attractive unless you want a club scene! Once it was lower we could finally hear each other and our waitress. Despite that, I would return here but not make a special trip to visit.
Limited menu, expensive and loud
Great food and exceptional service
This is our favorite place to eat in Newburyport. The food and service is always amazing.
Knowledgeable, pleasant servers, outstanding food, great raw bar equals a great time.
My husband and I had lunch at Brine, a Saturday excursion. The lunch menu was somewhat limited, but still had excellent and interesting choices. It was clear, from the inclusions of green peppercorns and Aleppo pepper in a sauce, that there was a real chef with a deft touch in charge. I will be happy to go again!
Our experience was an unexpected surprise! This was just a great meal and the wine we had was excellent! My wife ordered the Tuna and I had the swordfish and they were both done to perfection and the presentation was wonderful. Our waitress was very good and very attentive!! I would highly recommend Brine!
Nice ambiance and good service. The food was decent but wildly overpriced. Hats off to the pastry chef. The chocolate dessert was excellent
Brine never fails to deliver on wide variety of fresh oysters, signature sausage dishes and generally great food. Service is prompt and friendly. Atmosphere upbeat and fun!
Brine is a great place for date night. The ambiance is laid back but the menu is creative and delicious. We couldn't decide on dinner so we ordered most of the small plates and a salad. Great choice so we could try a number of items. Next time we will try some of the amazing entrees. Highly recommend
Food was excellent and plated very nicely. Service was very attentive. A bit loud but would definitely recommend
Great meal w my teenage sons and spouse. Wonderful service and chill vibe
Fun atmosphere. Great food.
Restaurant is VERY loud. It was a difficult place to converse. The food was quite good, but menu is a bit limited, especially if you are not in the mood for raw seafood. It was somewhat expensive for the amount we had to eat.
I took my mom here for an early Mother's Day lunch. The atmosphere was calm, and we had a great window seat. The staff was very attentive and friendly. I'm vegan, so I got a salad and the veggie burger - it was great!
Great environment. Our waitress was amazing great service. The prices are a bit high however for the environment and service we received Its not surprising. I would go again for the oyster bar.
Just terrific. We recently moved to the Newburyport area and this has become one of our favorite spots. Giselle welcomes you with a smile and her warmth followed by Karen serving you with her efficiency and wonderful communication. Food is what you expect - wonderful! Great energy and positive vibes.
All around fabulous
Amazing! Wonderful service, delicious and creative food, terrific oyster selection. Very small and intimate setting.
Great service from knowledgeable server who made our first visit wonderful. We will definitely return!!
Beautiful setting, cozy space, great to celebrate special occasions! Oysters are fantastic!
Delicious food. Service was friendly although a bit rushed.
Brine is a favorite as a pleasant place for comfortable service and fresh imaginative food. The oysters were crisp and the right mixture of salinities. The special Acadian red fish was perfectly done (difficult for a whole fish) and well complemented by a creative salad and bulger wheat side. The Sancere also highlighted the fish’s flavor. There is not a better kitchen in Newburyport!
Just fabulous!! The food is fantastic!!
