Food was incredibly delicious, innovative and well presented. Service was professional and friendly.
We felt the prices were high for value. The wine list was extensive but almost nothing under $100. They added 20% gratuity on the wine without our consent.
Would not go back
The food was amazing! The restaurant was beautiful. The evening was ruined because it took them over 25 minutes to bring our car from valet parking even though our waiter brought the ticket to the valet 5 minutes before we walked outside .This made us late for our play Besides standing in the freezing cold for over 20 minutes
The food and the service were outstanding. The squash soup, trophie noodles, and Dover sole were remarkable. Our server could not be nicer. It was a special night and well worth the expense.
Terrific all around. Food great but a tad on sweet side. Innovative, beautiful. So glad we went
Awesome experience, great food, tremendous service!
Always love Brindille. Very comfortable and pleasing ambiance with exceptional food. The oysters on the half shell with grapefruit granite were amazing. The European sole was spectacular with a perfectly prepared light and modern lemon pan sauce. My husband had the butter poached lobster that was equally delicious.
Took a special lady, very romantic! We had lobster and sea bass, wine was great! Service first class!
Exceptional food. The steak taratare, dover sole and clafoutis were some of the best I have ever eaten. This restaurant is gorgeous...do not miss it!
Excellent excellent food quality and preparation.
Food and drink were excellent. Lamb prepared as ordered and really good. Cocktail (French 75) perfect. Wines by the glass very good. Comfortable classic-style French restaurant that is not easy to find this side of the Atlantic. Will surely return.
Brindille is a lux experience, with great service and attention to details in the food and drink.
Its a special occasion place with soft lighting, good space between tables and relatively quiet. The prices are steep with entrees in the $38-45 range (or more) and appetizers from $15-25.
We had a wonderful meal and the service was terrific. The food was great and our server was attentive and perfectly paced the meal and made great wine recommendations. We are Chicagoans but had not been here before. We will be back.
One of the best tasting menus I've had to date.
8 Course with wine paring Amazing .
Very overpriced. $175.00 for chef tasting and unknowingly or informed was charged $100.00 each for just okay wine pairings. I felt ripped off. Some dishes very good and some just okay
We dined at Bellemore on Randolph a few weeks ago and had the chefs tasting for $85.00 and wine pairing was $35.00. It was an Excellent meal and value! $120.00 each versus $275.00 at Brindlle!! The Service was blah.
Having dined at Brindille before we had clear expectations for our dinner. Following the delivery of our bread service continuation abruptly stopped and another glass of wine was poured. The staff apologized and then two Chicago Fire Department personnel arrived with some ‘paperwork ‘ and one CFD went to the kitchen. Hmmm. No explanation. Our food eventually arrived, but other diners were not so fortunate. The restaurant did their best to mitigate what ever was happening.
This was our second visit to Brindille. We did the tasting menu with wine pairing and were blown away by everything! Something was definitely off in the kitchen that night as it took over 2 hours for a 5 course tasting, but our waiter did a good job checking in (and apologizing) and refilled our pours at least a few times. They also comped our wine pairings. Sometimes it pays to deal with kitchen issues! Based on the outstanding food and ambience, we will definitely be back!
We spend a very good moment in this restaurant. It was as in France. Thank you for that !
The decor is very cool and ambience is great. I think the prices are a bit high for the food you get. 4 small oysters for $24. I know they have fish roe on them but still. The butternut squash soup was barely warm. I should have sent it back. The lobster was good as was the fish but once again, I think too pricey. I knew what the prices were going there so I expected a little bit more. Thus I just gave it a good overall rating
The food was outstanding. I ate the degustation menu with 5 courses with wine pairing. I was lucky that the waitress gave me twice a glass of Sauterne. It's like haven on earth taste. I would recommend anyone who likes French food. The ingredients, the taste was good food and not pretentious.
Excellent little restaurant - great ambience and food, and really outgoing, friendly staff that made us feel very welcome; also a nice homey feel.
The food is fabulous. I asked for specific vegetable that were different from the menu - the chef accommodated by request and the results were creative and delicious. This is a truly special place. It's small, quiet and elegant, yet not pretentious.
We had an excellent experience at Brindille from beginning to end though it was on the high side for cost versus value for similar restaurants downtown. 4 stars on service would have been 5 if the dishes had come out of the kitchen faster. (NOTE: the kitchen was accommodating our 2 food allergies though). The Front of House service was excellent as was the food.
We totally recommend Brindille and will return.
Two out of the five dishes we ordered were worth coming back for - but not much else. The steak bordelaise and poached maine lobster were good - but for a French restaurant at these prices per course, we expected closer to Gary Danko quality food and service, but Brindille was not even in the same category. It was new year’s eve and busy, which can be understood. Much can be improved with just a few tweaks to certain dishes without trying too hard. Also, the music was horrible - a playlist from a bad DJ at a wedding or douchy bar in River North. Some 1920s Josephine Baker or Air / loungy house would have at least provided a sense of sophistication. Elevate your brand, Brindille. You can do better, be better in 2018.
Food quality was exceptional. Great variety of sophisticated ingredients with a very upscale presentation. Menu has a good assortment covering all the bases from beaf to pork to seafood - there is something for everyone. Prices are high but not outrageous for food of this caliber. Atmosphere is formal but more relaxed than uptight. Table service was the only week point where it took some effort to get the staffs attention between dishes, however, my visit was on New Year’s Eve and the lack of attention could have possibly been due to the extra amount of diners such a holiday brings. Overall however, a fantastic meal at a very fine restaurant, look forward to return again soon.
Sister restaurant to NAHA. Everything was terrific from start to finish. Every dish was inventive and well executed. I recommended this restaurant to my friends that haven’t been before and I will frequent.
friendly professional service - delicious food with simple but elegant presentation - the menu is very well thought out. Thank you!
We absolutely love the sister restaurant NAHA. But this is a big rip off. 55 dollars for a ok entree. The scallop app was actually one scallop cut into many pieces.
I can understand why it was half empty on a Friday night. The trendy atmosphere is great but a big disappointment.
I had a problem with the automatic 22% tip added to our table of 4. The staff does not mention it when they bring you your bill, so I didn't notice it at first. It felt underhanded and excessive. I usually tip 20% unless the service and food is outstanding, and in this case it was neither. I also would not tip 22% on my $150.00 worth of wine. It annoyed me to the point of never wanting to go back.
Food was exceptional! Waiter was casual yet professional. Not as attentive as we had hoped--- for the money. Big hindrance when attempting to order the tasting menu. Both my husband and I had to order the exact same courses. I seafood/vegetable forward and he is meat forward. They absolutely could be more accommodating, hence the three star rating.
Went to Holiday Tea at the Brindille December 2017. Staff was extremely disorganized when providing information about service to be provided. Champagne provided with a $20+ additional charge. Menu provided, but not provided opportunity to select sandwiches and desserts. Five finger sandwiches per person were open faced and placed together on a single plate, disappointing flavor. Scones and some bakery items were dry, no flavor and cold as if taken out of a refrigerator before serving. A pudding was provided in a little tasting glass, which after a taste we passed. Bakery items (mini tarts, cookies etc.) were piled on a single plate together with chocolate, lemon sauce and other flavors mixed on other desserts. Desserts were then placed in a take home box (as we tasted just a few items) which was tossed in the trash as flavorless. The tea was good. They automatically charge you an additional 22% for service. For three people the cost was $350.00. Definitely would not recommend for Holiday Tea as too many other restaurants in Chicago that know how to do a Holiday Tea with flavorful food.
The appetizer and desert courses were excellent. For example, there was a generous portion of foie gras in the foie gras appetizer. The entree I had was too salty. I would have sent it back except it took a very long time for it to arrive in the first place and I did not want to spoil the dinner. The server was pleasant and helpful but they did not have enough staff. Many of these sins could have been forgotten except the prices were very high, especially on the wine. On balance, not worth it.
Service was outstanding!
The food tasted amazing.
Very romantic setting. Very quiet.
We had a lovely dinner here. For a Friday night, it was quiet but that allowed us to have a nice, long dinner. Our food was delicious and we enjoyed our entire evening. The staff was excellent! Not sure why we haven’t been before but we’ll go back! And I’m telling others about it!
Exceeded any expectation. Dover sole was better than the one I had in Paris two weeks prior! All courses were delicious and beautifully presented. Wines were paired perfectly. Staff was fantastically attentive. Will recommend to everyone! Bravo!
Outstanding food and service. I love that the chef makes up the tasting menu based on your tastes and interest. Every dish was spot on. We did not have a bad one in the bunch and were stuffed when we walked out. The service was great. Although our server was a little busy at times, he was super friendly, knowledgeable and personable. It is rare for us to eat at the same restaurant twice but definitely glad we came back to eat here again.
This was highway robbery. I elected the tasting menu for $125. For this I received 2 oysters, basically an amuse bouche for first. Very gritty but nice taste. Despite all my travels, first time with raw oysters but interesting flavors. Then 4 oz of spectacular squash soup with pheasant confit. This was by far the best but for it being lukewarm, was almost a 10, but again small. Then 2 "main dishes". First was Sea Bass but of such tiny potion as to be ridiculous. I literally could have put the whole thing on a small serving spoon and ate it in one big bite ( I do have a big mouth). It was a tail piece and very fishy at the tail.. so much so as to be distateful, but the rest was okay. Half a tablespoon of potato puree and a bit else. I was thinking that maybe all the others were appetizers and the final would be a real main course but not so. The duck was very good. The seared "foie gras" tasted like a piece of straight seared fat. I have had foie gras before and this was not it. The sauce and 1.5 tablespoons of lentils was nice flavor but a bit too salty. It also came with 2 pieces of 1 inch carrot and 2 fava beans. I am not kidding. I could have eaten this in 4 bites easy. Dessert was biggest portion... an extremely bland chocolate cherry clafoutis. I have made cherry claoutis before and had guests rave about it. The so called chantilly cream tasted like whipped skim milk. No hint of vanilla flavor in clafoutis or cream, and no hint of sweetness in either. I understand one does not want desserts to be oversweet but this was bland, flat, and almost bitter it had so little sugar. Also it only had like 3 small cherries in it. Served blazing hot ( burn one's tongue hot) which was off. For 128 dollars I could have ordered this meal or something very close to it from the menu and received 2 full size appetizers, 2 full size entrees and the clafoutis dessert. It was an insult. I have traveled much and am a pretty decent cook and I KNOW food. This was a travesty.
Outstanding food, as good as I had in Paris. Excellent service. Relatively quiet ambiance (it was early) . Price was quite reasonable for the quality. Overall super experience.
Fantastic foie gras and delish scallops for apps. My husband had the sea bass and I had the duck. Both were superb. We had the cherry clafoutis for dessert. Outstanding meal. Will def be back!! What a treat!
This past Saturday we enjoyed an excellent meal at Brindelle's. We had the tasting menu. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and informative. Courses included steak tartare, squash soup, lobster, foie gras, 3 different deserts. The wine pairing was very interesting. An excellent Bordeaux, an interesting Alcase/Lorraine white blend. An Loire Chenin Blanc was passable. The price was fair for the amount of food and wine we received. The food was classical in style. Highly recommended .
