I was curious why a restaurant with a menu like this one doesn't have a Michelin star. I'm still curious, because a Michelin star is warranted. Every dish was terrific - there wasn't one let down - with an approachable wine list, too. Service was a touch slow but genial. We'll definitely be back.
We had a lovely evening at Brindelle with great service and delicious, innovative food. We are only sorry that we are just discovering this wonderful restaurant! We are leaving for Arizona for the winter months, but Brindelle will be at the top of our list in April when we return.
Fantastic french gourmet cooking! Perfect for a fine dining
Excellent service, food, drinks, location. I was so happy to see they opened up. Great date spot or intimate dinner - inside and patio space - in heart of River North!
We started out with spicy popcorn followed by a delicious soup. I had the duck, which was so perfectly done. We spit a lucius dessert followed by chocolate. Outstanding.
Thanks very much for a great evening. Staff was superb, food was delicious. Our first time coming and we look forward to returning.
Impeccable meal, great service. So glad after staying home for so long that we chose to dine at Brindille w/Michael and crew!
Excellent food and service.
Fabulous meal, great service, everything was wonderful
Loved the French dishes of Chef Naha
Loved the pastries too!
We were there for my 60th birthday!
Came back for my 65th!
Our server Shane very attentive. Also observed good Covid 19 precautions: as face mask at all times while he was attending to us!
Rest of wait staff also attentive!
Extensive wine list!
Food is as good as ever, even under these strange circumstances with the virus and disturbances making it difficult for a top notch chef to be able to plan and stock for a steady dining crowd. The matchstick frites are not to be skipped. The salmon was very good as was the chicken. Desserts were very good. The patio was very comfortable, even so near to the street.
Empty, the hostess wasn’t nice . Food was marginal but our server was amazing
So glad to see this lovely spot open again. Can't say enough about the food , wine and service. Would highly recommend!
As always the food was outstanding as was the service. We find Brindille a wonderful restaurant to celebrate special occasions as well as just the desire for a fine dining experience.
Brindille is always spectacular. We enjoyed the casual Sunday atmosphere.
For a light summer meal the mezze and a bottle of sparkling Armenian wine at Brindille can’t be beat. The regular menu is wonderful and the food is always perfectly prepared and supremely creative but sometimes a lighter dinner is perfect.
As always, Carrie’s food is delicious and beautiful..
The service is elegant and comfortable..
We are so happy that they have reopened and are providing a safe and wonderful option for covid dining..
It was super!
Chef Carrie Nahabedian is a culinary genius. Every course is a delightful treat for the palette. The food, the ambiance, the wine, the service, all top notch. But the food...did I mention the food???! So GOOD!!!
It was a treat to finally be able to eat here. Carrie's food was impeccable. Perfect flavors, textures, and execution. I would eat here every weekend if I could afford it!
Open again and just a wonderful as ever. Never fussy but always creative. A beautiful space to watch Chicago walk by and enjoy perfectly prepared and unique dishes. And a very nice wine list.
Exceptional food, extraordinary service. Just wonderful...
We dined at Brindille this past weekend with our youngest son. He was heading back to college after spring break and we wanted to treat him to memorable meal. The decision was made to do the five course tasting menu where the chef selects the dishes for the entire table. To say that we were a bit apprehensive was an understatement but we have always enjoyed our meals at Brindille in the past so we took a gamble.
I have to say the five dishes were very good. My son thought the dish featuring duck and foie gras was just oday but that was because he did not care for the texture of the foie gras. The dish featuring the dover sole should have had more fish on the plate but it was a very good dish nonetheless.
I have three issues with our meal.
First is that the portions were a bit small. Yes I know this was a tasting menu but for the amount being charged, a bit more food on the plate would have been greatly appreciated.
Next one came up when we were presented with the bill. A 21% gratuity was tacked on to it. There were only three people in our party so I was a bit perplexed at this turn of events. Turns out that if you order a full bottle of wine and/or champagne, this gratuity becomes mandatory. To say this is a bit avaricious is being polite. In this situation I would prefer to decide on the level of the gratuity. Was our server worthy of such a gratuity that night, no he was not.
Lastly, this restaurant has an aversion to accepting cash. We tried paying with cash and was told they would prefer that we pay with a credit card because they were concerned that they did not have enough cash on hand to give us change. This makes absolutely no sense to me. It was a Saturday night. You mean to tell me you couldn't make change for a $50 or $100 bill?
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Chicago, Brindille never disappoints!
Food was very good. Server was nice but needs more training to be in an upscale restaurant.
Valentine’s Day dinner was spectacular!
Went for Valentine's Day for the first time. Tried the five-course chef's choice with wine pairings. The food was phenomenal and so was the service. Fantastic restaurant, glad we went.
We had nice night, but service was very slow though our server was kind, the cold air from the front door made us uncomfortable. Repeatedly had to ask for service. We had the tasting menu, and the main course was chicken, which was ok, but a major disappointment. The price was too high for chicken to be the feature dish.
I would strongly recommend not going to this restaurant.
If you’re going to a French restaurant, just go to Everest. The food was alright, was recommended a salad and it was terrible. My girlfriend has PTSD and had an episode while inside so I stepped out to calm her and send her to the hotel. They left me two nasty voicemails saying they’d call the police because we skipped the bill...even though they had my credit card info including my name. Why would anyone skip a bill after leaving all of their info behind? After getting the message I called in with my other card to pay and the jerks took out a tip without asking.
Our server did not ask how we would like our dinner served, but the dinner course came before the appetizers. I asked the server why didn't the appetizers came first, he rudely answer that its what comes out first.
The presentation of the foods was poor, which decreased my appetite. The food was dry and took 40 minutes, which did not deserve $$$$ pricing. I asked for medium however the steak was overcook. Plates was not changed until I asked for it to be changed. The server only came to the table twice, once to take the order and once to give me the check.
The server automatically charged 20% tips for three people, which he I don't think he deserves.
Dinner at Brindille for my husband's birthday was amazing. We arrived a wee bit early and were happily seated at a corner table by the window overlooking Clark Street. Our waitress was most gracious and helpful with our menu selections. I was a little concerned when we learned that Restaurant Week had been extended and we were given the Restaurant Week menu because we both really wanted to try the Dover Sole. Thankfully it was on the menu! With encouragement from our waitress, my husband ordered the oysters and he raved about them. Neither of us are oyster lovers so I was surprised by his reaction. We shared the Duck Breast and the Dover Sole. The Dover Sole was THE BEST preparation we have ever had. Don't miss it when you go to Brindille. The Duck was delicious albiet very very rich.
For dessert, we shared the apple almond Clafoutis which was outstanding. We took the Brinkille Cookie Plate home with us and enjoyed every last crumb. We will definitely return to Brindille for a rerun of the Dover Sole.
This is the third time that we dined at Brindille and our second time taking advantage of their restaurant week menu. Our dinner reservation was for 10:00 p.m. and they were able to seat us a few minutes early.
As before, the service and food was excellent. The oysters and mushroom soup were wonderful appetizers. My wife had the steak and I had the moulard duck breast. For dessert, we both had the gateau basque. This was one of our last restaurant week meals and it was a great way to cap it off.
Our waitress was Corinne/Karen and she was a delight. We went with her wine suggestion and were not disappointed. The restaurant was busy and had a great vibe. Families were celebrating birthdays, couples were out on romantic dates and guests were enjoying drinks and food at the bar. We will have to go back with our children to try their tasting menu.
Although my husband and I had an enjoyable evening here, the food was very underwhelming. We tried multiple appetizers, entrees, and desserts and while nothing was particularly bad, nothing was worth returning for either.
The food was good & the service was friendly. A bit disappointed because I ordered my second drink & never received it. When we were given our check, I informed the server that I never received my drink. He said he would bring it out, on him, but no apologies. 15 minutes later, still did not receive my drink. We paid and left. There was also no mention of my husband’s birthday even though I wrote it in the note. The entire experience was not bad. I think they were just busy. Although, I would probably not return because there was nothing special about my experience.
Mediocre food, horrible service.
Everything was amazing. The food and service was great. I would highly recommend.
We went to Brindille for restaurant week and were very impressed. I ordered the sirloin steak, mushroom soup, and the floating island dessert. The food was very good, and the price was good since it was restaurant week. Full price it might be a bit much, but definitely a good deal for restaurant week. The atmosphere was nice, but felt very formal. Overall it was a good experience with very good food.
Overall, I thought the food was very good, but I wouldn’t go back. Food was very slow to come out and we were not provided a reason why. Server brought over more wine, which was nice, but didn’t say why he was bringing it over or anything at all, so that was weird. Also, they got our dessert order wrong. The food would’ve tasted better if the service was quicker and more seamless.
Such an amazing experience from the ambience, exceptional service, exquisite meal, perfect wine selection, and did I mention the service? Careen was outstanding! We felt so well cared for.
Came for restaurant week, was not disappointed. Lots of choices, small portions of course, and honestly the food took awhile to come out, but every course was delicious and the wine Recommended by our waiter was delicious.
