I have been to this restaurant a few times, and I normally I have the carrot soup. Which is great! They took it off the menu, so I tried the cobb salad. And one of my dining guest also had the cobb salad. We both agreed it was not a good salad, as the chicken was precooked and reheated, and dried out so badly the edges were curling. And the bacon was cold with lots of grease on the pieces. I am sure other food on the menu is great. But I could not give the cobb salad a good review
We eat at, or get take out from Briggs regularly. The food is always, always, worth the money and also very tasty, and the service is always great! My husband is a meat eater and LOVES the short rib, charred sausages, fondue appy, and burgers. My friends go nuts for the poutines. I personally wish they had a few more vegan and vegetarian options! The lettuce wraps and fried pickles are my fave. Oh and I wish they would bring back that carrot soup! ✌🏻Overall I would highly recommend!
Whenever I go, I like the atmosphere and food.
Would be a nice place if it weren't for the loud, loud, loud music. Couldn't talk at all. Server had to come back and tell us they were out of the item I wanted. Sad.
I was very surprised to see the restaurant side of Briggs to be empty the whole time we were there (on a Friday night). It used to be a busy spot. The food prices on the menu seem to have increased since last time I was there. Drinks were mediocre and food was not as good as it usually is. Service was less than acceptable given the fact there were multiple servers on and very few tables to serve
Friendly staff, good location and great food. The rock crab and ricotta gnocchi is fantastic!
After going for a grad dinner earlier this year we returned with guests after telling them how fantastic it was, very disappointed. Our server seemed to be too interested in flicking her hair and batting her eyelashes! Drinks ordered came to table wrong, food ordered was wrong, 1 steak ordered was served on a side plate and told the veg would come shortly! Patrick the GM couldnt apologize enough. It wasn’t busy and couldn’t understand how it could be such a terrible experience.
Would think long and hard before going again, not the special occasion we had hoped for.
Late lunch meeting. Slow service and mediocre food.
Went on. Tuesday eve, was totally dead which was our first disappointment. Server was friendly and efficient, but food was sub par. I ordered the halibut sandwich, which was a step above a filet-o-fish, and despite being only one of 2 tables with customers, my fries were cold(!!)
Wife and daughter each had underwhelming and bland pasta dishes. Went elsewhere for dessert. Won’t be back unless just for beers.
Best burger in town! We also enjoyed the Wings and gnocchi
Server was very friendly, good wait time in the food and the quality was excellent. No complaints.
Food was fantastic and amaxing service. Very attentive to our needs.
Food was excellent, service was great, and the atmosphere was very inviting. Tables were well separated for our business lunch and 'rooms' are created inside to give an intimate atmosphere, while still holding a large number of reservations.
The steak had much fat. And it was different from what I knew menu and prices.
The serving was good.
I had a parking problem. There was confused between public and Briggs parking lot.
So I don’t recommend this restaurant.
I've been to Briggs a few times in the past and loved the food in the past. Not this time. I brought my family as my cousin was visiting from abroad. The place was near empty and yet they sat us right by the kitchen where it was hot and not a good ambience. Why when there were tables near the brick wall and by the window. I ordered the pulled pork taco, which had a bad smell. I didn't enjoy it at all. We shared calamari and it was chewy. My dad ordered steak med rare and it came rare and tough - must have been a bad cut. Pasta was recommended but was terrible. Sadly I won't be back to Briggs and no longer recommend it. Is there a new chef or something?
Bring the original fries back! :) We didn’t like this new cut and seasoning for them. Also, mousse was slightly different. Is there a new chef or management here?
Service was great. Just the right amount of attention.
3 of 4 dishes were great. Paella mediocre.
Excellent food as always. But they need to add more special menus or new daily menus. The menu doesn't change so you always know what you're getting and quality is pretty consistent. But we only come for the tomahawk. Wish there was more specials to entice me to come more often when I wasn't craving a hunk of meat.
Easy access to paid parking, seated quickly (not many people there). Food was average but expensive, glass of house wine was expensive for a small glass. Average ambiance, average service, average food. Just an average experience but it was expensive for that.
Food was over salted and not well cooked, will not be back
Great place will be back. Close to offices of clients.
Had a great night sitting on the edge of the patio area.
We had ordered everything over the phone and Michael assisted us to have it ready for our arrival. Everything came out quick and it tasted amazing! Thanks Michael!
Took some friends from out of town and they loved the food. One of my favourite places to go as well.
Exactly what we wanted. Conversation easy. Wait staff superlative and compliant and considerate. All food great except for the steak sandwich which was a tough piece of meat. Should have failed when tested by the chef. Vegetable dishes superlative
Had an excellent experience for my sons graduation meal! Great service and excellent food
Overall the food was good, but our chicken appetizer was cold (frozen) in the middle. Our server seemed inexperienced and the restaurant was mostly empty on a Friday night from 6-8 p.m.
We had reservations for the dining room but when we got there, despite the place being empty, were seated in the lounge right next to another group. We had to ask to get moved because it was loud, cramped and not private enough. Service was lacking - the waiter never came back to ask if we wanted refills of our drinks and he was generally not attentive. The food was ok. Definitely not a great choice for a dinner out with friends visiting for the first time from the UK. Doubt I would go back
Very loud and very awkward table at the front of the restaurant made it very unenjoyable.
Great service, great food. The calamari is too die for!
I’ve been to Briggs quite a few times and have always loved it, but I find the last 3-4 times I’ve been, it hasn’t been great. We had the mushrooms to start, $13 for a small pan of sliced mushrooms, and they tasted burnt and metallic. A lot of their dishes are cooked in cast iron pans, but the food tastes like metal. I love mushrooms, but couldn’t eat these. We also got the brisket tacos and it comes with 2 small tacos for $18. Our server was friendly and helpful when she was around, but she would be MIA for a while between check-ins. I have no issue spending money for great food, but I think Briggs needs to step up their service and food a little bit if they want to charge what they do.
we need a very long time for dinner.... about 1 hour after ordering food.
there wasn`t enough parking space.
we paid fine...
Good atmosphere, small crowd, lovely service and good food.
very nice food and service
The gnocchi wasn’t very good to be honest... but our server was great and did his best to accommodate us - and took the meal off our bill. The ambiance was great and service was really good, but the food was pretty average. My boyfriends burger seemed good so maybe I just got unlucky with my order.
It's ok maybe needs an update and a new menu. Don't like panhandlers out front
We went to Briggs for date night but were not overly impressed with the place. During our meal we weren’t sure who was actually our server and found it hard to get the attention of the staff. My boyfriend ordered a steak with crab and bernaise sauce but when the food arrived it was missing both the crab and the sauce. When we finally got the attention of the staff his steak was cold and I was done eating. Overall the food was mediocre and the staff was not attentive. We won’t be back.
Nice decor though.
I had high hopes for this place, as it was rated 4 1/2 stars
The food wasn’t anything special. If you order the cheese fondue it’s not your normal fondue, it tastes like runny mushroom soup. Great service and very friendly staff.
I've been here for lunch half a dozen times and it's consistently good. I love the gnocchi, and the half chicken is tasty as well. I work in the area and will continue to visit for lunch.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch and the short rib gnocchi was delicious! Others ordered the Croque Madame, Breakfast Perogies, and Chorizo benny, which all looked equally tasty. One ordered bacon on the side, but for 2 pieces it didn’t seem worth the extra $5. Great ambiance, food, and service all around though!
