The beef short rib is amazing every time I have it. Gluten free as well!
Service was slow & not informative or engaging, food was disappointing compared to various past experiences there. At the end, server was spraying down the table right beside ours while my half-full plate was still sitting on the table, not sure if any spray mist drifted our way but it wasn't pleasant regardless. My food wouldn't have been sitting on the table if the server had attended to my plate sooner...I had been waiting for quite some time to be asked whether I'd like my leftovers wrapped up, as my 3 companion's plates had long-since been cleared away. Way too noisy. Not a good experience.
We had our staff Christmas Party and our server was fabulous, food was amazing and overall great atmosphere!
Attentive wait staff, who politely offered apt recommendations.
Due some Christmas gatherings, the service was slow (over an hour for food to arrive) but, again, the service was conscientious and accomodations for the delay offered.
Food was generally very good and will look forward to returning.
First terrible meal experience I’ve had there, I usually love it at Briggs but this was horrible, I’m very disappointed.
It would be great if Briggs Kitchen offered more choices for vegetarians. I told the waiter I’m a vegetarian and ordered the Cobb salad, asking that the kitchen hold the meat that’s listed on the menu (chicken), but disappointingly it came to the table with bacon on it. Had the menu listed bacon as an ingredient then I would have asked to have it removed too. Also, it was a bit disappointing that the waiter didn’t twig-on to this either when I started by saying, “I’m a vegetarian” before giving him my order. My lunch companions are omnivores and thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
Great food but TERRIBLE service. So slow. Was impossible to get the attention of our server.
Initial service was very slow. Once we expressed frustration the service improved.
I only gave 4 starts because it was my only visit ever. That said, I would not hesitate to go back when I am in Calgary!!
Food was decent, service was horrible, kitchen tried to stiff me on a side because we ordered poutine. Then brought out the side when dinner was completed and tired to bill me for it. Not sure if manager has changed but has gone down hill badly. Used to be awesome and had amazing servers. Now the servers are all young girls who should be working at a bars.
The other food on the menu was good but we were looking forwards to try the 48oz ribeye and was disappointed. It was chewy and not a lot of flavours. I asked for the appertizers to come out first then the rest with the ribeye since it takes 30mins for it, but maybe the server heard me wrong and brought out everything else first and then we ate the rib-eye by itself.
Great service but expensive and the portions are small.
as always, one of my favourite places to dine. I like to take new people here so that they too can experience great food and atmosphere at good prices.
Quiet in the restaurant but great food and excellent overall experience.
Unfortunately, the food and service was sub-par. They were short staffed and our food took a long time. The server apologized but there was no effort to correct the situation nor did the Manager speak with us.
Awesome time. Awesome service. Our server Joanna was a dream. Tomahawk steak was on point. Would definitely recommend
The Briggs Experience was a great idea for our party of six. We were able to try so many dishes and had more than enough food
Good spot for beer and a bite before the Flames game.
It was not the first visit and it will not be the last. Every visit has been great. THANKS
So disappointed - the service and timing was horrendous. We had to go to the bar to get our first round of drinks. Had to go back to the bartender to ask for the server to come to get our food order. The appies and mains came out at the same time. Was never asked if we wanted more drinks or needed anything. This is too bad because in the past, the service and food were great, but now, there are too many other good options in the City to give this place a second chance.
The interior design and atmosphere was quite good , however the food was too small.
Food was fantastic! Service was a tad slow, but friendly. Table next to us was incredibly loud and we had a hard time hearing each other across the table. Just unfortunate.
The food was very good although it was busy so we had a longer wait than anticipated to receive our orders. The space was tight so we sat in very close proximity to other tables and it was very loud; difficult to carry a conversation without yelling. There were 3 large parties surrounding us that evening and probably contributed to most of my concerns.
Our experience at Briggs Kitchen + Bar was wonderful. The atmosphere was modern, warm and welcoming. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The food arrived at our table timely after order and was hot and visually appealing. Some great options on the menu for vegetarians and server was knowledgeable to navigate food allergies. Pleased to see Briggs Kitchen + Bar participates in the Meal Share Program to help youth in need.
The food was wonderful, however the server was not. I told her right away that my mom was a celiac with severe gluten sensitivity. When I asked her right off the bat she didn’t know what was gluten free - which I understand. But she made no effort to inquire with anyone what was okay for my mom to have. Ordering was very strenuous as she just kept saying “I think it’s ok”. After dinner she must have interrupted our conversation 5 times asking if we want anything else or if she could bring the bill. Basically forcing us to leave. It was an unpleasant experience service wise, but the food was phenomenal.
It was too noisy. They don’t give free refills on pop so you pay $3.00 for a glass of ice with a bit of pop.
I have been to this restaurant a few times, and I normally I have the carrot soup. Which is great! They took it off the menu, so I tried the cobb salad. And one of my dining guest also had the cobb salad. We both agreed it was not a good salad, as the chicken was precooked and reheated, and dried out so badly the edges were curling. And the bacon was cold with lots of grease on the pieces. I am sure other food on the menu is great. But I could not give the cobb salad a good review
We eat at, or get take out from Briggs regularly. The food is always, always, worth the money and also very tasty, and the service is always great! My husband is a meat eater and LOVES the short rib, charred sausages, fondue appy, and burgers. My friends go nuts for the poutines. I personally wish they had a few more vegan and vegetarian options! The lettuce wraps and fried pickles are my fave. Oh and I wish they would bring back that carrot soup! ✌🏻Overall I would highly recommend!
Whenever I go, I like the atmosphere and food.
Would be a nice place if it weren't for the loud, loud, loud music. Couldn't talk at all. Server had to come back and tell us they were out of the item I wanted. Sad.
I was very surprised to see the restaurant side of Briggs to be empty the whole time we were there (on a Friday night). It used to be a busy spot. The food prices on the menu seem to have increased since last time I was there. Drinks were mediocre and food was not as good as it usually is. Service was less than acceptable given the fact there were multiple servers on and very few tables to serve
Friendly staff, good location and great food. The rock crab and ricotta gnocchi is fantastic!
After going for a grad dinner earlier this year we returned with guests after telling them how fantastic it was, very disappointed. Our server seemed to be too interested in flicking her hair and batting her eyelashes! Drinks ordered came to table wrong, food ordered was wrong, 1 steak ordered was served on a side plate and told the veg would come shortly! Patrick the GM couldnt apologize enough. It wasn’t busy and couldn’t understand how it could be such a terrible experience.
Would think long and hard before going again, not the special occasion we had hoped for.
The server was very nice and kind. Also, food was good.
Late lunch meeting. Slow service and mediocre food.
Went on. Tuesday eve, was totally dead which was our first disappointment. Server was friendly and efficient, but food was sub par. I ordered the halibut sandwich, which was a step above a filet-o-fish, and despite being only one of 2 tables with customers, my fries were cold(!!)
Wife and daughter each had underwhelming and bland pasta dishes. Went elsewhere for dessert. Won’t be back unless just for beers.
Best burger in town! We also enjoyed the Wings and gnocchi
Server was very friendly, good wait time in the food and the quality was excellent. No complaints.
Food was fantastic and amaxing service. Very attentive to our needs.
Food was excellent, service was great, and the atmosphere was very inviting. Tables were well separated for our business lunch and 'rooms' are created inside to give an intimate atmosphere, while still holding a large number of reservations.
