Brigantine La Mesa
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
With an updated nautical decor, the busy Oyster bar is hands-down the local favorite. Lush flowering foliage outdoors creates an elegant dining experience on one of two charming patios.

An upscale place for casually dressed San Diegans to eat seafood. Always delicious and great service in a lovely venue.
A wonderful restaurant. The staff is very helpful and efficient
Expert seafood preparation with very attentive service.
On my last 2 visits I order my favorite Seabass w/lemon butter and capers. But I must say 2 visits ago, I had to send it back because it was to dry. I sat there waiting for my refire while my husband ate his scallop dinner. So needless to say that was not such a good experience. When I was there on Thursday this past week I once again order the Sea bass prepared the same way and once again it was overdone, dry and actually the smallest piece of fish I've had at you restaurant. So when our waitress came around I told her about it. My friend was having the halibut prepared the same I prefer so the waitress suggested I get that instead and it was delicious. When our waitress took back the sea bass she noted it did have a black char on it, and commented that the expediter mgr. agreed it was to dry. So my concern is that they are somehow preparing the Sea bass differently then the Halibut and in reality they should be handled the same way. I love your restaurant but after 2 times I'm not sure where to now go get my favorite "Sea bass"
Our waiter started out strong but dropped the ball on us by leaving our dishes on the table long after we had finished. Our waiter did inherit a large table after we were served. I’ll give him that, but come on! My sister and I were treating a friend of ours to a birthday dinner. We put both of our credit cards out to split the bill. My card got charged twice so we had to get that corrected. We were very embarrassed since it was a special occasion. We prefer dining in the bar area where the service is always top notch.
Always good food and service!
I booked our reservation on OpenTable only to fine out the dinner time was too late in the evening for my wife. I was able to call the restaurant directly and spoke to the M.O.D "Michelle" and she was able to get us an early time. I didn't know that I was able to change the time over the phone and still receive my OpenTable points.
Thanks Michelle for your help and our dining experience was phenomenal.
Service was great and the food was tasty. Great kids menu as well!
My family dined at The Brigantine for Mother's Day and had the best service ever. I want to thank Ellen for the excellent customer service and entree recommendations, she's a gem.
Our family has eaten at the Brig for the last 20 plus years. Mothers day was a bit of a fiasco. I know it was busy and our waitress was good at the start but then dropped off pretty quick. Our food was cold, the fish was so fishy that it wasn't edible. We didn't send it back due to the lack of service. It is up to managerial staff to make certain there are enough employees to handle the holiday rush. This will not keep us from visiting your restaurant but we wont be back for any holiday festivities
everything was outstanding for Mother's Day. We had reservations but we our table was ready before our arrival. The staff was very attentive. And the food was excellent. Management checked on all the tables. It was fantastic
My wife and I are big time fans of the Brig and dine there on a regular basis. In all our years of attendance, I cannot recall one instance of poor service or poor food. If you are in the neighborhood, check it out.
Mom's night out.
We celebrated mother's day the evening before. We were not disappointed. Once again the food was great the service excellent. The Brigantine continues to provide excellent service. That's a big deal these days.
Loved the way the outside patio was decorated with lights and a nice table with a built in fire pit. I loved the menu options for my kids. The salmon dinner and calamari appetizer were both amazing! Just wished they served larger portions. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and we will definitely keep coming back.
Simply Fabulous absolutely divine will be returning very soon thank you for making my night so enjoyable
The surf and turf special was excellent, and my crab and lobster Cobb was WAY better than any I've had before. In particular, the lobster was cooked then way few know how (split and cleaned first). And of course, the shrimp and crab fondue was perfection, as always! Miles our server, was the best we've had in months. Great personality, too.
Great evening once again. We seated on time at our favorite table and were immediately greeted by our waitress, Coco. Food was excellent, served quickly and hot.
Plus, because we were celebrating a birthday, we received a complimentary dessert. 😁😁
The Brig is our go to place.
My husband & I came back for a 2nd visit to the Brigantine and we were very impressed again!! Absolutely loved the atmosphere, knowledgeable well trained top notched staff and the very delicious fresh food. Finally, we have found an East County restaurant that we can call our "Go To Restaurant"!!
Almost every time I eat at the Brig, it's excellent but this was outstanding. Our server was fantastic and my dinner was out of this world. I highly recommend the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi! Melt in your mouth delicious. The Brig salad was trademark wonderful and the entire experience a real joy!
A great place to celebrate my 80th birthday!
The food was delicious and the service was excellent !
Thanks for everything, including the $15 gift card and the mud pie dessert.
A perfect evening!
My daughter and I were there to celebrate my birthday. The staff is outstanding, from the hostesses to the bartenders to the wait staff and the bussers! It took a little while for our food to come out but the restaurant was extraordinarily busy. We couldn’t finish all of our meal so it was packaged for us—including the delicious sauces—to take home. Dessert was my very favorite mud pie. Excellent dining experience.
The Brigantine is always a great choice. Beautiful restaurant and good food. We all had the halibut. Very moist and tender, but needed a little more seasoning.
Great food , service and surroundings.
Will be going again.
Running late for our reservation and the hostess adjusted time twice to accommodate us. Waitress, Dian (?) was very gracious. General manager stopped by and welcomed us and talked about changes to menu. Next time Wednesday 1/2 off wine. Wine list could be freshened and have more options and better choices for full bottle price.
Always a pleasure to go here. Great food, service & atmosphere. Great for special occasions or quick bite to eat.
Friday night and they had our table ready when we arrived. Waitress extremely attentive and pleasant. Food was great. They changed the fish taco recipe and it was different but good. Prefer the old recipe. The rest of the meal was great.
My shrimp was way over cooked. No taste left in it at all. Rice was too sticky.
I have had a lot better food at this restaurant, so we will be back and have something different.
I had indicated it was for my son’s birthday but no dessert with a candle was brought to by our server.
My wild rice was undercooked and my husband’s lemon risoto was not good.
My stuffed salmon was very dry.
Service was wonderful. Food was ok and very expensive. Steak was small and potatoes a little burnt.
Absolutely love the La Mesa Brig. Always ask for a window seat....everything was perfect. The lobster/crab salad, with louie dressing and no blue cheese, was incredible. They do everything right at this Brig.
My daughter and I really enjoyed our dinner night
Our server was excellent and so was the food! The Brigantine is one of our favorite restaurants!
The service was good. The food tasted good and had decent presentation. My eggs were not as hot as I would have liked, and my potatoes were cold. Wedge salad looked very good. Sordfish came hot. Minor requests for changes in a menu item were honored. My seat at the table faced a bussing area so I could see them scraping plates. I would have preferred a different view while I ate. We enjoyed our brunch, but I was expecting a little more from such a famous place. The crab was excellent with my eggs!
Great food, and the servers are always awesome. I have some dietary challenges, and the servers here always know how to modify a dish that I might not otherwise eat. Besides that, they give us time to study the menu and ask questions.
Easter brunch was inedible.
Will not be back.
Our visit was very nice, The service was excellent and it is always a treat to eat eat the Brig. We look forw ard to our next visit.
Our waiter John was fantastic, friendly and attentive. Food was fantastic our table had the Oven Roasted Salmon, macadamia crusted halibut and fish and chips with baked potato substituted.
Was.my moms birthday celebration and was just an overall great time.
Fresh wild-caught seafood is our favorite meal out, and we know it can be tricky not to overlook it. The Brigantine La Mesa has always prepared it perfectly. The waitstaff is always friendly and efficient.
Always a great meal
