Brigantine La Mesa
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
With an updated nautical decor, the busy Oyster bar is hands-down the local favorite. Lush flowering foliage outdoors creates an elegant dining experience on one of two charming patios.
The La Mesa Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch every Sunday.

Overall a very good experience with attentive service and good food. Price is a little high but still acceptable.
Patio was very nice. Inside during a busy lunch time is quite noisy. Hard to conduct a business meeting when you are shouting!!! Food was excellent and fish was well prepared. Service was attentive but not pushy!
I have been to Brigantine too many times to count. I love going there because the food is high quality. This time was particularly noteworthy because of our server, Forrest. He was very attentive and offered excellent recommendations. He clearly knew his food and drink. My prime rib with the homemade horseradish was deliciously prepared, and my sisters enjoyed their seared Ahi. We all thought his wine recommendation was perfect. We sat in the main dining room which can sometimes can be noisy, but on a rainy day my friends and I enjoy the fire pit in the bar. The outside patio has a lovely ambience on a warm day. I’ve never had a bad mealy at the Brigantine.
Excellent food and drinks, served at the right time. There were 2 large tables of 15 people near us, which were noisy so hard to hear each other talk. But a great birthday experience none the less. Waiter could have smiled at least once but didn’t. I will return, maybe different area for table, different waiter. He was very knowledgeable of all foods though.
Great service and tasty, fulfilling cuisine
This was the perfect spot for celebrating a 91st birthday lunch with a friend. The daily special of Scottish salmon was superb. The patio seating was quiet and pleasant at 1:00 pm. Kelli was a professional, pleasant, caring waitress.
we seem to always get seated where there is large group and it is extra noisy and lots of people movement and kids open/closing the door brought cold air in frequently. Otherwise it was a good evening.
My favorite place. Location and service. Hostess should require to dress better not casual. At least in all black.
One of our favorite places to go for lunch. Its easy to get a reservation, staff is very friendly and helpful. Lunch is so yummy and so affordable!
We highly recommend.
Best seafood in La Mesa! Parking is a challenge, though.
Great tables, great service, great food. . . and oh, the champagne!!
Great pork chops!
Meal and Service was fast and A+. Plenty of self parking.
Birthday dessert was complimentary and the best creme brûlée ever!! Crab and lobster Cobb great as always. Wine choice was disappointing so our waitress exchanged it for another. Never disappointed at The Brig!!!
Best waitress, let us enjoy an evening with girl friends and always attentive. Provided great menu recommendations.
Three of us ordered one of the specials of the day, the sea bass, and we all loved it. The fish tasted so fresh and it was perfectly cooked. THe fourth person ordered the tempura lobster tacos and was disappointed. She said the batter was too heavy for a tempura batter and there were too many onions in the taco. SHe also wondered why french fried were served with it??? Otherwise we enjoyed our lunch.
Service was fantastic, our waitress was wonderful and extremely attentive. Food was great always enjoy the Brig.
Terrific service, great food, and would recommend to anyone. We went Sunday around 1 p.m., and it was a bit noisy but it did settle down after a while.
Fantastic as always! You can always rely on getting a great meal and great customer service at the Brigantine. Our waiter Miles was very friendly and always has a great attitude. Have eaten here for many years, and will continue to do so! You won't be disappointed if you have a meal here....For either a quick stop in or a special occasion. It is our favorite place to eat in East County.
Another fabulous night
It was lovely for my mom’s birthday.
Coco our waitress was awesome!
Anniversary dinner special provided dinner for 2 with soup or salad, 2 entree for$50. NY steak and swordfish were both excellent. Service by Coco was superb. Happy Anniversary to the Brig.
We were celebrating our 30 wedding Anniversary and had a wonderful time!
Thanks to the Brig. and their team mates for helping us celebrate.
Our server Rhonda was excellent and explained the menu options and specials.
We were celebrating 2 birthdays and each lady received a desert choice.
We will be back.
This was a fantastic spot for a quick work lunch. Plenty of food options to please many and the food is always delicious
Steak was gristly, only ate 50%
Even though I live in East County I don’t eat here because I like to eat by the water. But the restaurants by the water have gotten ridiculous! They are way too expensive! This was a great value, great food, great service and I can’t believe I have not gone here very much.
We have been to this location several times before and this time was a little more personably and the service was great. Thanks for a happy birthday
The Brig is always good, we go there a lot and are never disappointed. Too bad there are not more restaurants like this in the La Mesa/El Cajon area.
They actually had the best dish they have ever made as a special! The calamari relleno used to be on the regular menu and is the reason I got hooked on the Brigantine. I still ask for it every time I dine here, which is often, at least once a week. The oysters Rockefeller are also delicious.
Great lunch. Amazing specials. Stuffed Mahi Mahi was to die for :) Good Service as well.
Great night thanks to great food and even greater service. Thanks Sheila!
enjoyed, as usual. However, one thing that bothers me almost every time I visit the men's room. Towel waste basket always overflowing. Toilet floor wet and toilet messy. Sink counter wet and messy.
This is a turn off after an otherwise nice evening.
someone should have the duty of policing the restrooms on a regular schedule.
Our experience at the Brig was incredible! From the service to the food, we had a wonderful dinner last week. Our server recommended the Wok Charred Ahi and I couldn't have been happier! Was great! My son got the crab and artichoke stuffed seabass and he said it was one of the best seabass dishes he has ever had. Would definitely recommend this Brig!
The Brigantine is always a great place to dine. My favorite dish there is the swordfish. It’s always fresh and delicious! The service has always been excellent and my family and I have been dining there for many years.
I have never had fish and chips where the fish was tough!! Who ever heard of tough fish?
Overdone fish , and fries they should be ashamed of. Overdone yet soggy.
Clam chowder was very thick and gluey, but flavor was good.
