Brigantine Escondido Ratings and Reviews
First and last visit. The patio is quiet and was decorated for the holidays. The heater lamp above made it tolerable on a cold night. The ocassion was seeing my sister. We have not seen each other for over a year. The bread was as hard as a rock. Not better when exchanged for new bread. The fish and chips was the worst. The fish was shaped like a hard cylinder. Overcooked. The fries were hard and not hot for long. Overall, the patio was the best part of the evening. The service was great, but we infrequently saw our waiter, Incenti. However, his helpers kept up with our needs.
Our server made great recommendations. Everything looked so good on the menu that I couldn't decide and she suggested the Seared Ahi Bok-Choy. It was very delicious, I enjoyed the veggies more than the seared Ahi! It will be hard to order anything else the next time we visit.
The ambience of the Brigantine is lovely, maritime but modern. Quality of the food - excellent; portion size for lunch specials too small. Excellent customer service. Noise level hindered any easy conversation amongst the 8 of us. As a location for business meetings with more than 2 people not recommended.
Always great food and service. Very efficient staff and we have always have great service from the hostess to the waitress/waiters. Liz was our waitress and she was great! I had Lobster tacos which were delicious, and the other people in our group had crab cakes, and shrimp and grits. Everyone loved their choices. We were commenting that The Brigantine restaurants have lasted so long because they are consistent with everything. Thanks so much.
Our visit was with old friends for lunch. The room was comfortable and noise level acceptable. The food was very good, plated well and looked appetizing. Everyone had a different meal, but there was not one thing with the food to complain about. Server was very nice, but she could have been a little faster, and checked if everything was o.k. All in all, it was a very nice experience and we will be eating there again.
Picked this place out of a hat. I don't live in Escondido but was there for business and needed to meet up with a friend. Brigantine did NOT disappoint in any way! Easy to find, super friendly service, AMAZING food, and comfortable environment. Super affordable and fulfilling happy hour. This place is truly a gem! I'd make the two hour drive just to go back and eat the chicken nachos and artichoke fritters.
We have dined at the Brigantine many times over the years and we loved their salmon with dill/caper sauce. As the French say, it's all about the sauce. They recently changed their menu and have now gone to a Greek style yogurt type sauce for their salmon. It was very disappointing. Their bread was also very lackluster. The goat cheese appetizer was quite tasty and the creme brulee dessert was nicely done. The service was excellent. Overall Brigantine is a quality restaurant, but we probably will look elsewhere for our salmon in the future.
I loved my dish which was the wok-Inspired Ahi, the only thing that was too much was the pile of wonton strips on top that made the dish more bland than I thought it would be. I had to put some more hot sauce on it to give it a kick. If I get it again I'll ask for no wonton strips.
