The Escondido Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, and lunch Monday-Saturday. Join us for our signature Happy Hour.
The fish was delicious, and our server was great! However, the green beans and other vegetables were inedible. We asked for another batch, and they were just as bad. They kindly brought us asparagus and broccolini, which were fabulous. The cole slaw was tasteless, though. We wondered if the chef tasted the food before sending it out. Original vegetables should not have been served. Several other diners said the same thing according to our server.
The decor was nice, although it was quite noisy.
For the cost of the meal, it was not worth it.
Our family enjoyed hanging out on the patio. With two little kids, it was more relaxing for us as well as the diners inside! The happy hour menu was great. I loved the seared rare ahi.
Had great service. We wanted a booth in the back. Hostess allowed us to change tables when it became available. Three of us were celebrating birthdays and we enjoyed the complimentary desserts.
I ordered Oysters on the half shell and 4 out of the 12 had no oyster present in the shell to eat! Poor food quality. I probably won’t return to eat here and would not recommend it
We were on vacation resort recommended your restaurant it was great wish you had one in the San Francisco Bay Area
Bringantine never disappoints with amazing food, it is expensive but you get quality food and service.
We Love Brignatine in Escondido. We had an unusual experience however with this visit. We had a 2:15 reservation and by 3:00 we began to notice that there very few people in the dining room, where we were, and the main patio. Soon we noticed the sweepers were being used and all of the tables were being cleared. Soon we were the only ones left in the dining room, and cleaning crews were all around us. They continued to serve us and we had dessert amid the chaos. We learned they shut down for clean up and change over to dinner. It did not leave us with the feeling of a relaxed experience and would not like to repeat the experience.
Halibut was fantastic!
I would recommend this place because of the food, but with a warning that the service is hit and miss. The service at the bar was excellent and so was the food. However, our hostess told us who our server would be after she sat us down at our table in the dining area and walked away. Our server never showed up. Finally the server from the bar came to bring us another drink and saw that we were all done with our drinks, and offered to get us another round. When she came back with our drinks she asked if there was anything else, we said yes, that were were ready to order but we hadn't seen our server and it had been over 30 minutes since we sat down. She took our order and then another server came by later and said she would be taking over. I think she was supposed to be our original server. Anyway, she seemed new or maybe just didn't feel comfortable in the position. It was the day before mother's day and it was busy and there were 5 of us. Maybe they shouldn't have given a new person that shift. At least the food was great and the server from the bar where we originally started didn't forget us.
Highly recommended. Salmon was delicious. My wife liked her cod, and son loved the French dip. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. And the birthday girl got a dessert with candle on the house!
We live in Escondido and had visited Brigatine before, years ago.. I wasn't impressed then...and still not impressed.
Food was ok, service was good. However the value is questionable, way overpriced for what is provided. Location is next to Von's gas station, so location is another issue. I'd expect to pay what we did for a 1st class meal in La Jolla....not here. Do not recommend...
The restaurant itself is fine. However, this was to be a special occasion lunch and we made reservations through OpenTable for Saturday at noon. You could even see the lunch menu. Then when we arrived, the staff explained that the Brigantine is not open for lunch on Saturdays, although we could sit and order from the Bar menu. WHY weren't we informed of that when we made Saturday lunch reservations?????
I love going for lunch because my favorite is the lobster and crab salad. It's delicious and the dressing is outstanding.
Big changes at Brigatine! Improved menu, ambience,& service. A bit pricey, but food is good
This was my first time there, although I had wanted to go for years. I am very glad we went. The food was fabulous, and we had a wonderful time.
Food was good, ambiance fun and nice, serving staff friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced
Seating was prompt, server was very polite and prompt, food was very good and well presented.
Cold over priced food. Server was very nice, but buried with all of the people there.
Very expensive for what we received. It was depressing and disappointing.
Easter Sunday. We had a great meal for brunch ,our server was spot on . Overall we had a memorable good time.
We sat out on the patio Easter Sunday, 12:15pm reservation and we were seated upon arrival. Beautiful day, loved the patio, the service was outstanding. The basket of pastries they serve at Brunch is so good, I wish they would sell them as a to go item. The drinks and the crab & shrimp dip were outstanding, we cannot get enough of that dip! Unfortunately, our entrees were not as satisfying. I had the crab cake benedict, the eggs were over cooked with hard yellows, very little hollandaise sauce, the temperature was lukewarm and the potatoes were cold. Husband had the Brig scramble, he said it was just ok, probably would not order that dish again. Neither of us finished out entrée. We've been here many times when all the food ordered was on point, but today not was not one of those days. Still one of our favorite places in Escondido, and we will look forward to visiting again soon.
Had a great time with our server, food is consistent, and we sat down immediately. I appreciate the values of a restaurant run so well.
Great brunch menu ~ something for everyone.
While the food was good, the service needs a little work. When we arrived, we were seated right away and were met by our 70 year old meek waitress a few minutes later. We ordered drinks and an appetizer as well as our dinner since we had already looked at the menu. We were ok until after this point. Happily we were done eating by the time we hit the 40 minute mark. That was pretty good timing. We asked for the check and the waitress brought it within about a minute. We immediately gave her a card to pay since we were trying to go somewhere else next. Then the waitress became a ghost. Being patient, I couldn’t find her after about 10 minutes. Finally I grabbed another waiter and he went looking. 10 minutes later the manager came. Then about 5-10 minutes later he came back with the check and took the blame and said she was waiting for him. When it takes as long to get the check paid as it does to order and eat, there is a problem. Average at best overall. Food is good but not outstanding for the price.
We were greeted by a friendly young lady and seated by another. Sunny, our wait person was knowledgible, helpful, and personable. All of the personall who tended to us were outstanding. The food appeared in good time, was hot, and delicious. The broiled oysters with panko and garlic were outstanding and changed one of our party's mind from hate oysters to love them. All together a delightful dining experience.
Place is tucked away in Escondido. Very quiet and peaceful place to dine on traditional seafood as well as oysters. Prices are very reasonable. Staff there were nice and informative. Wife and I shared the seafood fondue. I had oysters ( Blue points) as an appetizer. Wife had clam chowder for her entree I had the seafood gumbo. It was a great dining experience. We will be back:)
I would rate the food as being "safe" - typical chain store type preparations - nothing offensive but also nothing special. My crab cake was flavorful but I would estimate a 60/40 mix - at $14, I would have expected a little less breading. I would equate going here for seafood to going to Olive Garden for Italian.
The food is Brigantine is amazing. The only thing better than the food was the wonderful service. Hostess and server were superb. Delicious seafood, fresh and flavorful. Great menu options for every seafood lover!
The crab & shrimp fondue is out of this world. Wedge salad was made with fresh produce and the oysters were so satifying!
We always enjoy Brig when we visitEscondido.
Excellent service and food. We liked the former ambiance better, but I
guess that is progress for you. The newer environment is considerably louder than before. My wife and I have been going to the Brigantine forever. Never had a bad meal or experience. We like coming here especially on holidays.
I have gone to this restaurant on several occasions and they are great for small plates, but their entree’s tend to have surprises that are not listed in their menu. For example when I ordered their Ahi tuna, on the menu it said it came with jasmine rice and wok inspired vegetables. When I received the entree they covered it with a pile of wonton chips. The reason I got the dish was because I thought it would be healthier and I was trying to avoid fried items. After I moved all the chips off my plate I found the veggies to be drowning in sweet teriyaki sauce and the tuna had Cajun spices on it. The dish made no sense at all because on the menu it said the tuna was wok inspired, so I was not expecting Cajun spices. I don’t know who comes up with their menu items, but for a high end restaurant I expected more than what I could find at a chili’s or Applebee’s. When I asked the manager why she didn’t list the wonton chips on the menu, she said they only have so much room on the menu so they shorten it. They did re-do my food after I complained but this has happened more than once. I even asked the waitress (who was new) about the entree and she said it was her favorite. If your a fish place, please learn how to make a decent ahi tuna. The last time I ordered your restaurant’s tuna, the whole tuna was tempura’d, didn’t cut it, put it on a bed of rice with giant boiled bok choy and gave me chopsticks to eat it. No sauce, and the bok choy was bitter. I guess my lesson should be to never order tuna from this restaurant.
The crab cake on top of the steak Oscar was terrible. I think it was deep fried. Way too greasy and crunchy
Awesome seafood.....The Brigantine never disappoints
It was noisier then I was expecting. The food was great.
It was cold because the AC was running. We like the restaurant, but always have to bundle up to go there. Seats are soft and service is great.
Best corned beef cabbage dinner I have ever had ... very tender and lean corned beef.
Very nice restaurant with very good food. Service was excellent. Wide menu. Nice environment.
We celebrated a birthday and truly enjoyed our dining experience. The service was great, the waitress was attentive and personable and the ambiance is wonderful. Thank you!
Brigantine was great. Great tasting food. Great service and very affordable.
This is basically a seafood restaurant, but I felt like a steak, and it was superb! Others at my table had seafood and were pleased as well.
