Brigantine Escondido Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant was packed on Valentine's Day but we were seated outside and it was very pleasant. The service was good and prompt. I think the noise level inside would have been uncomfortable. Food was tasty.
It is a neighborhood restaurant for us and we plan on going more frequently.
I took my daughter & granddaughter out for Valentine's Day; the waitress didn't do anything special for our granddaughter who was clearly energetic and we were busy entertaining her. And, my green beans were very under cooked and the only side on my entree. It was also a bit crowded and noisy. So a not-to-repeat for anything but happy hour to get a better value experience.
I ordered pretty modestly, opting only for the mussels and a Caesar salad. The cocktails were okay and the server was friendly and ready to keep our water glasses full. This is basically a chain restaurant but it has better offerings than the other local restaurants (Ruth's Chris and whatnot). Food was ok. My dad got chicken marsala and the portion was generous and the sauce had cardamom or something in it which we really only taste in the marsala we have in New England, where we live. I might go back again if not just to try the sand dabs!
We went on a Sunday evening for a birthday celebration. Enjoyed having Pacifico and Sculpin on tap. Yum. Service was a little slow but it was obvious our server had a really huge section, was really hustling and we weren't in a rush and she was very pleasant despite the obvious intensity of her section so it worked out fine. The food was excellent. Shared coconut macadamia shrimp which were outstanding, also the shrimp and crab fondue which was just crazy delicious. I don't want to know anything about how many calories are in that! The surf and turf filet was cooked perfectly, the sand dabs were reported to be excellent as well. I ordered the gumbo which had great flavor, legit dark roux, good spice and I can't believe I'm saying this but a little too much sausage but overall delicious, I would order it again. We accidentally left a $100 gift card in a blank envelope laying on the table, the manager tracked down our phone number and called to let us know right away. That could have easily gone the other way. Much appreciated. We'll be back.
We arrived a bit early and got seated right away. The food was great and we had a super nice waitress who was very attentive and a genuine delight. The staff is always good with attention to all our needs. Food was very well presented and served hot and tasty.
We had eaten at Brigantine several times in the past.I do not know what happened but I was not impressed. The start was an appetizer of calamari. My wife insists that it was not calamari. I thought it may have come from a freezer from Wal-Mart. I was looking forward to the bacon wrapped shrimp. I had to go for fried shrimp. Could have been from Gorton's.
First and last visit. The patio is quiet and was decorated for the holidays. The heater lamp above made it tolerable on a cold night. The ocassion was seeing my sister. We have not seen each other for over a year. The bread was as hard as a rock. Not better when exchanged for new bread. The fish and chips was the worst. The fish was shaped like a hard cylinder. Overcooked. The fries were hard and not hot for long. Overall, the patio was the best part of the evening. The service was great, but we infrequently saw our waiter, Incenti. However, his helpers kept up with our needs.
Our server made great recommendations. Everything looked so good on the menu that I couldn't decide and she suggested the Seared Ahi Bok-Choy. It was very delicious, I enjoyed the veggies more than the seared Ahi! It will be hard to order anything else the next time we visit.
