Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Located near the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, the Brigantine features fireside seating in a casual dining room, and in the adjacent lounge. Outdoor dining is available on one of our intimate patios, which include both fireplace and water features.

We had swordfish with rice and vegetables. The vegetables were hard as rocks. We had to ask for bread and they never asked if we wanted refills of water.

Usually I love going to the Brigantine, one of the best restaurants in Escondido. This time the food was disappointing. Don’t order the vegetarian curry, it’s not very good, and certainly not a curry. Scallops also were disappointing, not as described in the menu. I should’ve ordered a more reliable entrée like the swordfish. However the atmosphere is nice, and the service was good too.
Food was really mediocre. Veggies were undercooked, mashed potatoes a bit watery.
This was a wonderful experience. The wait staff was attentive even though the restaurant became busier and busier. We were seated quickly. Our various orders were taken promptly. Food delivery was reasonable and the food quality and temperature was right on. Kelly, our server, did a great job. Even when the restaurant became quite busy over time, she checked on us from time to time. We did think the restaurant could have used another server in our dinner area when business became hectic, but Kelly worked hard to be pleasant and attentive.
Andy was a great server. The seating was comfortable. The reasturant decor is fresh and modern with a slight nautical theme.
Nice spot, food is generally tasty. Love the outdoor patio! Tonight are vegetables were served nearly raw. I need Brigantine to either serve their vegetables with a steak knife or cook them more. Butter knife can't cut through!

It was good evening overall
I had the Mahi Mahi with macadamia crust. It was bland. We also the scallops which for three pieces was not worth the price. The y charged a 4% surcharge for something the server couldn’t really explain so just be aware.
The only food I liked was the creme brûlée and it was nice that they gave a free dessert because it was a birthday celebration.
Great food at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended for any of their locations.
The food was amazing! I had the macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi. It was delicious. Our waitress didn’t check on us until the end of our meal. So I would say the only negative is that the service could have been better.
I would have given 5 stars for everything but the lobster tacos had fish tempura and not lobster. Otherwise everything else was great. Especially Spencer our waiter

One of the salads served had very little dressing on it. Slow to bring check.
We had a 2 o’clock Sunday reservation. We did not realize that their brunch menu ended at 2:30. Our chicken and waffles were cold as well as both of our brunches potatoes were obviously cooked earlier in the day and served to us cold. I will say the special mahi-mahi that my son had was amazing. Don’t go to this restaurant right before their brunch ends. You will get cold, old food.
We have been here many times. This visit was on the patio and that is why I rated it quiet. The main dining room also has a low noise level. The bar area is noisy like any other restaurant but fine for Happy Hour visits. The food is normally very good and well prepared. Two of us had blackened halibut and it was a wimpy as far as the blackened flavor goes. It also had a weird sauce on it. The other meals were very nice. We like this restaurant and will continue to go to it.
I ordered the house special and it was very expensive for the portion you get. The seafood was good but not served hot. No salad or soup comes with a $32.00 meal! The bread was not good quality - too airy and light like sliced white bread. Had to keep asking for more because they hardly give you any for 4 ppl. 4% surcharge for "increased costs"? The high priced meals don't already cover that? Unfortunate that you can't get a good seafood dinner here without paying over $50.00. Service was mediocre and very warm where we sat.
The Brigantine is beautifully redone inside. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. It is a great for getting together with friends or special family occasions.

Birthday dinner for my sister. We both had Catch of the Day featuring swordfish. House salad, main course and desert all delicious. Swordfish beyond delectable. Our server Melissa was delightful - ready smile, efficient, responsive. Will return soon.
We hardly ever come to Brigantine, not sure why, it just isn't in our list of usual options. We came on a fundraising night and the parking lot was absolutely full, had to park by the grocery store. We waited about 5 minutes to check in while other parties in front of us were seated, no big deal. The table we got was very comfy, benches on each side with plenty of room to adjust the distance to the table, view of the outdoor patio seating. I really love squaw bread and theirs was kind of meh, dried out. The white bread was also less then stellar. The clam chowder was great though, and the house salad was pretty tasty although a bit oily. I had a hard time deciding what to have for dinner, lots looked good. Everyone enjoyed their entrees very much (fish and chips, macadamia crusted mahi mahi and swordfish), although a little on the pricey side. The Parmesan risotto I had as a side was great. No room for dessert so I can't speak to those. The bar was crazy busy with lots of large groups enjoying the bar menu, I've heard the fish tacos on there are amazing.
I would absolutely recommend Brigantine to a friend! Great food, good atmosphere, helpful waitstaff... Overall, a wonderful evening.
I’ve been to the Del Mar location multiple times and this location was just as good. I had had Scallops and my bf has fish and chips. Both amazing. Our server was also attentive and friendly!
It's okay. Nothing spectacular. It's clean and ambiance is nice.
We started with the 🦀 and 🍤 fondue, (its actually a dip with toasted bruschetta) my husband and I devoured it with delight. I ordered the 🦀 stuffed 🍤 wrapped with 🥓. The bacon was crisp and flavorful the shrimp was cooked perfectly and there was plenty of crab stuffing, 5 stars plus. My husband ordered the salmon and unfortunately it was lacking in flavor so only a 3 star on that.
We will def be back.
I met a colleague at Brigantine for dinner. The food was good. It was warm, not piping hot. I don't want to burn my mouth but I was surprised that it wasn't hot. The portions were excellent and the service was good. The basket of bread was super---bad for my hips---but tasty and soft/fresh. I visit Brigantines fairly routinely. So the food warmth item is not a concern for me. It was still warm and I ate all of it!
Another pleasant meal without hoopla. Just good!

Food was "fair", bar area noisy, and service was slow. However, the big negative with this restaurant was the 4% surcharge to your bill to help them with rising costs.
Food was good and service and wait staff were excellent and friendly.
Nice environment, however, seems like we were bumped from our Reserved indoor garden view table to the bar area due to a larger party with only 1 hour's notice. Although outdoor garden table we ended up choosing since the bar was too dark, was nice, it was too hot and no fans were supplied.
Had my favorite dish, Macadamian Crusted Mahi Mahi. The fish was exceptional as always. It came with seasonal vegetables, which I normally like, they were a bit undercooked for my taste. Next time I will ask for them to be well done.

Two of us went for Saturday lunch. OpenTable informed me that only the oyster bar and outside patios are open on Saturday, before the dinner hour. We were seated at 11:30 in the oyster bar, and with the new remodel that I hadn't seen before, it was perfect. We had one of the best servers - ever. Two lobster/crab cobb salads were perfect for the hot Escondido afternoon....another enjoyable meal at the Brig. Thanks!
The staff were very nice, but I expected a better dish than what we paid for. I keep trying a new dish and get disappointed each time. My mother had the mahi mahi with risotto and I had the burger, the only thing that we liked the most was the French fries and dessert.
