Perfect For:
  • Scenic View
  • Casual
  • Great for Outdoor Dining
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.

Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.

A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.

The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

We had a great window table, food was really good. Our server took a long time to take my drink order and deliver. Once our food was delivered she was MIA. I had to ask bus boy for more water twice. Customers shouldn't have to ask for water refills.

Although our server was great he was clearly rushed off his feet and had way too many diners to look after on his own. He was a very experienced server and conscientious and courteous. Because it was incredibly busy the service was super slow. The noise level was awful and it was difficult to have a conversation across the table. Really annoying but I don't expect Brig. will do anything about this.

I eat at various Brigantine Restaurants on a regular basis. As such, I am very familiar with the menu. I ordered the macadamia crusted mahi mahi which is my absolute favorite and was totally disappointed. There was no nut crust and my fish was floating in oil. The taste was nothing like my memory or the description on the menu. I was so shocked because this dish is always superb. Our waitress was lovely and graciously replaced it with a different order.
For years my family and friends have enjoyed countless meals at the Brig but this was really a let down. I hope it was just a one time slip in quality.

Requested to be by the window with my reservation and they accommodated the request with no issues. The food was great. The only issue were the cocktails, with my friend’s drink it could’ve been that every place can make a common drink slightly different/ also she wasn’t feel that great so maybe her taster was off. I was a great friend and drank it for her. My drink didn’t have enough spice as listed in the ingredients.

You can never go wrong at the brigantine! On either
The bar side or the dining side, it’s just great. And the fact that they fresh stuffed my blue cheese olives upon request is huge kudos! :)

We had an overall OUTSTANDING dining experience here. We have driven past this (Del Mar) location many times, but had never dined here. We were seated on the patio area, which has window that fold open, giving it a very pleasant ambiance on a beautiful San Diego evening. There are views of the racetrack and the ocean, which was unique. Our service was provided by "Matt", who was attentive, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Our started off with calamari appetizer, bread, and Caesar salad. Entrees were filet "Oscar" , coffee-rubbed braised short ribs, and a lump crab cake. All were beautifully plated, and tasted even better than they looked! Finished off with a (shared) slice of the flourless chocolate cake. What a tasty, tasy dessert!. We will definitely be back!

The food is always good. The only negative experience we had with our reservation was the hostess. When I booked through open table I indicated that this was for a birthday. However, when we arrived the hostess took us to a table that was in the middle of the traffic flow with people constantly walking by on one side, which was obviously not special. When asked if we could move to a different table the hostess rudely noted "this was the table that we reserved" (note I did not reserve a table in the middle of the traffic flow) that "all the other tables were reserved" (I didn't realize that you could call and say I want the second table from the left by the left side of the floor - how are ALL the other tables specifically reserved) and told us our other option was to head to the bar where there was open seating. After that she just simply walked away and didn't even wait to see what we had planned to do.

We had 4 different dishes and they were all delicious. Some of the ingredients were left off one salad but the server quickly took care of the problem. The view was wonderful: Del Mar racetrack and the ocean. Great place for lunch. We were celebrating a birthday and when the server found out he compt the mud pie that we split. What a nice thing to do.

Coming back to Del Mar, after living here in my 20s, I was pleasantly surprised to see The Brigatine. It was walking distance from where we were staying. Decided to grab an afternoon lunch on a Sunday. The views, food and service were all outstanding. Wanted to return again a couple of nights later for a cocktail and it was just minutes past closing time on the off season but they said they would be happy to serve cocktails. WOW, now that’s service.

Excellent restaurant with great food, views and outstanding service. It was, however very noisy, but it was a Saturday and very busy so that's to be expected.

One major problem was the REQUIRED valet parking. I didn't mind the excessive $6 charge, but the wait to get our car took more than 10-15 minutes which will cause me to avoid this fine restaurant. My wife and I stood there for 10-15 minutes within 25 feet of our car but were helpless to go step in it and drive away. It's hard to understand the rationale for this huge inconvenience. There were 15-20 people also lined up for their cars. Is the $6 in revenue really worth the hassle to patrons?

Food had no flavor and presented very poorly.
Most entrees were over cooked and very noisy.
I will not come back or recommend to any of my numerous associates....go up highway 101 2 miles and have a much better experience at the ChartHouse which we went to the night before,

We were looking for a restaurant close to the Belly Up, where we were heading for a concert. I had long heard of the Brigantine Restaurants throughout San Diego county, but this was my first time to actually try. We were pleased there was valet parking. The entry at this point is quite inviting. Once inside, the restaurant opens up to a bar to the right, dining to the left, and "patio" dining straight ahead, smooth flow.

We were asked which we preferred, inside or patio. I noted that this was our first visit, so she recommended the patio. At this time of year it is enclosed with wall-to-wall windows which obviously can open when the weather is warmer. You can see Del Mar Racetrack from here, and hear the Coaster whizzing by. Very nice. We'll be back to enjoy the view with the windows open.

We shared a small plate of broiled oysters (not quite Dragos N.O., but nice). Wish I had ordered one or two raw oysters (the waiter mentioned the daily varieties available), which you can order individually (usually restaurants require 6 minimum). My husband had seared day boat scallops, which he really enjoyed, and I had a half order of crab & lobster cobb salad, very nice.

Yeah, we'll be back.

This is a buzzy venue filled with local clientele, always a good recommendation. The food was excellent although a little expensive.above some similar places around but probably worth it. there both small plates to share around and large plates.
The oyster are fresh. The calamari strips excellent. the crab cake wonderful and the slaw a great side.
The scallops any of the fish fish and the classic fish and chips are all to be recommend.
you will not have a problem finding something to eat and share.
I will go back.

It was a very busy Sunday night, so the service was a little off from usual, but the food was excellent! I loved that we were seated on the patio by the window because of the great view, but I was very cold the whole time, so don't think I'd do that again except in the summer. Overall, a very good dining experience & I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
