Brigantine Del Mar
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.
A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.
The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.
We had an excellent experience, our server and his trainee were excellent! I live on Coronado and have eaten in both restaurants within a week of each other and Coronado cannot hold a candle to the Del Mar Restaurant. the entire experience was really great, the crab cake was very good, the wedge sales terrific and the Halibut special was perfect!
Way overpriced!! Would not recommend. Food was ok.
Really well prepared food with great service. I don't like that they tell you they are charging an additional 4% to help pay servers making minimum wage. Pay them more, raise your prices and be done with it. Anytime a vendor tacks on a "fee" of any type it is simply a ploy to to make you feel like it is not their fault you are paying the price you are. Other than that it was an excellent place to have a wonderful meal.
It was great as usual, great service, great atmosphere, great food, great drinks. A really comfortable place to be anytime of the day, lunch, happy hour or dinner.
A fun celebration made even more so by our fabulous server Taryn and the great food.
We had the salmon tacos, shrimp and crab Louie salad, and the fish tacos. All were outstanding.
The patio was beautiful.
We can’t wait to go back!!
Those grilled swordfish tacos 😵😵😵😵 AMAZING!
Just an ordinary dinner in an ordinary place
Had a great dinner date experience here on a Friday night. Food and service were very good, with the food being a pretty good value. Though we didn’t sit at the bar, that ambience looked to be a very fun vibe and atmosphere. Entire restaurant has a heckuva view too!
Great place, wonderful service, half price wine on Wednesday was nice
The Brig is consistently good. We sat by the window and it got a little stuffy. When we told the waiter he opened the whole thing up and boom gorgeous breeze. Beautiful.
It was my birthday and the table was perfect the food was fantastic our waiter was great, thank you Brigantine, Rose
You get a nice view of the track and down the coast but the noise level is off the chart. Food was ok. Brussels sprouts were delicious but rest of it was only ok. Waiter was nice and tried hard but basically sat there for an hour ½ not able to say much to each other without yelling.
Scallops were amazing. Very good meal in a fun lively atmosphere.
Had reservation for 5 @6pm, we were led outside to a table for 4. Flustered, waiter attempts to move 2 tables together. Also, w/temp dropping, not everyone was dressed for cooler temps in April. The clanking &moving of the heat lamps didn't help. Heat was too intense to start, had to adjust during dinner. We should have requested in door table.
Asked for table on the patio and when we got there were told one wasn't available. Should have called us to let us know and we would have cancelled. The reason to go here is the view not an inside table.
We arrived on a busy Saturday night with a reservation and waited about 15 minutes prior to being seated on the patio. Our waiter was completely over-extended as he was responsible for all patio tables. As such, he was not personable nor did he offer suggestions or ask if we had questions about the menu. We tried the coconut shrimp as an app - fine, somewhat dry and firm but tasty. Salads were good, fresh and full-flavored. Entrees included bacon-wrapped shrimp (very good flavor, but dry), swordfish (excellent flavor and nice presentation) and macadamia-crusted barramundi (served with coconut rice and broccolini - quite good). The meal was good but not great; lackluster service detracted from the evening. There are many other wonderful seafood restaurants in the area and we would try another prior to a return to Brigantine.
Birthday blast at the Brigantine Del Mar. They made us feel welcome and special.
Awesome venue. Impeccable service. Great food. Truly a terrific evening!
Pretty good for San Diego. Food, high and low points; my seared tuna was cold when it was brought to us, but tasted very good. Lobster roll as a starter was not good, $14.50 for a very small lump.
My wife's swordfish was very good.
Amazing evening! It was our anniversary and we were treated like royalty. Food was amazing too!
I was very impressed with the service, the drink selection, and the food. I'm from the East coast originally, so I am very picky when it comes to seafood, but it passed the test.
I was aware of the prices before I went there, but I was still very surprised when I saw the menu. I think you essentially pay for the atmosphere.
The restaurant was packed, but even taking that into consideration, service was a bit slow. We finished eating 45 minutes before showtime around the corner at the fairgrounds, but the whole payment process took 20 minutes. We just barely made the show start.
Awesome evening. Since it was our anniversary they gave us the best view in the restaurant
My favorite place! My husband brings me on every trip to San Diego!
Service was good. Food portions small, lackluster, nothing extraordinary for the price.
Great view - will go again soon!
I think it would be a great place for a drink. I did not think the food was up to par for the price I paid
First of all, I reserved a table by the window weeks in advance. But they sat us in the back with no window view next to the bathrooms and waitress station. Our waitress was less than attentive. She didn't offer bread or check on us. The food was hot, but otherwise not good at all. I will not be back.
Great location, great menu. Very noisy everywhere. Hard to hear everyone at our table.
Food was tasty and served fresh and hot.
Maybe Tuesday is not the best night to visit as it is taco Tuesday. Parking $6 and street parking has meters.
It was too noisy to have much of a conversation with our clients and we did not see the interior room until we were leaving. We like the Brig PL the best. Good food and scenery but too raucous for us.
I had the best meal I have ever had. Shrimp and grits. The service was good. Ambiance wonderful. Truly enjoyed the experience. I have been to other Brigantines but this one is the absolute best.
5/6 meals were done well. The hamburger was raw, but they apologized. Scallops were amazing!
Great food, fantastic service at every level. I would highly recommend this place!
Beautiful spot, outstanding food and service. Had a great time.
They had to refire on of our meals however, the staff made up for it with a round of drinks and comping the meal that was sent back.... all in all it was a decent experience, prices a bit high but ok.
I love the Brig but I made this reservation early enough where I thought I would get a good table. Instead we were seated in the hot sun. I just had eye surgery so it was very uncomfortable and myAunt was with us and she is 98 and was sensitive to the sun. The staff was wonderful but they told me that all the good tables were reserved. I am not happy with Open Table if I cannot expect a great place to sit. Since I was on vacation from another state I had no way of knowing that the table was too sunny.
The service and food were not what I have experienced at other Brigantine locations. I made a reservation online and added a note if it was possible to get a great seat for Mom’s 70th Bday dinner. Of course I know, not all requests can be accommodated. We were about 15 minutes early for our reservation but were seated quickly which was nice. However, the 6-seater table was located near an open door and the heater above was aimed towards the two seats farthest from the door, while the two seats closer to the door did not have heat, making for a cold spot even though we were inside. The table only had light above one corner seat. It was dark on the other end of the table so we used our phone flashlight to be able to see the menu. We ordered four each of the three types of oysters. When I asked the server which ones were which on the dish, he didn’t seem to know, generally pointed out east coast over here and west over there...they were all fine but since Brig considers themselves an oyster bar, I thought the server would know about them. The sand dabs dish I ordered did not have much flavor; the lemon caper sauce was almost non-existent. The crab and lobster Cobb my mom ordered was good. I requested a recommendation for a buttery Chardonnay and was satisfied with our waitress’ suggestion. Service was a bit slow. I have had excellent service and meals at the La Mesa and Shelter Island/Point Loma locations.
We wholeheartedly recommend Brigantine! We've been dining there for many years and the food, service, and ambiance are exceptional every time! Everything we've ever ordered has been super fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The service is always very friendly, efficient and professional. Simply put, we love it!
Noise level is the only complaint here. It is SO hard to hear even at your own table!
I brought my mother for her birthday lunch, she loved the view, the food (calamari strips) and the service. Thank you for making her day special.
