About Brigantine Del Mar
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.
A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.
The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

Brigantine Del Mar Ratings and Reviews
We went there for dinner for the 40th anniversary of announcing our engagement. We had a reservation for 6:30PM and arrived on time, actually a bit early. We were told that they were clearing the table and that it would be a few minutes. After 10 minutes, we were told the people at our table were still lingering and it would be few more minutes, so the clearing the table explanation was not true. Thirty minutes later, we were asked if we wanted another table and we agreed only to get a table next to the ice machine where all the servers were, so we asked for another, that ended up being in the middle of the restaurant. The floor is made of wodd almost like a deck and with all the servers walking around us, the floor was constantly literally moving. There was also no light above our table so after about an hour it was very dark. The steaks and the seafood were mediocre AT BEST! We had another reservation planned for this weekend, 5/20 to celebrate our actual wedding anniversary of 38 years and have cancelled it due to our experience of last week. The only positive was that Matt, our server did a great job.
The restaurant was very busy since it is prom season. Another family with the same name took our reservation. The front staff was very helpful and apologetic. We were seated in no time. The food was good. Our service was lacking. It took a while to finally order. Server not too attentive about filling water glasses (several guests only drinking water) or serving bread (which came after the appetizers). He did do a good job with desssert even bringing a candle on the birthday dessert. I would try this restaurant again.
It was a pleasant day, My first time trying a Brigantine and we decided to go to Del Mar, I wanted to be at the patio that day but there was a wedding, Maybe next time there should be a little alert is the restaurant is being used for a venue. But over all it was great, food was good, the food came pretty quick and the server was very attentive.
Seating was reasonably fast; we had reservations. The table was near the kitchen but was no more or less noisy than many other tables. Service was good but the server had tables scattered throughout the venue...seemed a bit inefficient. Still, he provided very good service.
We each had the spinach salads and as an entree the lobster tail dinners (2 tails for $30) and it was excellent. We'd order it again.
Overall, a very good experience.
We received an excellent table with an exceptional view overlooking race track and ocean. All the seafood was superb , New York steak a little chewy. The service was very slow. Noise level is very high. Dufficult to hear the person across the table from you. But the view, good company and excellent food made up for the slow service and high noise level.
Wonderful as always. This time sat in the main dining area. We had great service and great food. However, I was surprised to learn that you can't order the infamous fish taco in the main dining room which I had boasted about to my out-of-town visitor. I can see why perhaps you want to make sure that it is part of a larger meal order but you should be able to order it as an appetizer. The Ahi-poke and lobster taco are on the main dining room menu though so why not the fish one?
This was our first visit after several years and we enjoyed our anniv dinner. Our waitress was very attentive and service was fast. It was a bit noisy but not unexpected for a popular place. The menu has a good variety. Prices are moderate.but drinks are a bit higher than we expect. A free desert for our anniv. was a nice bonus. We will definitely be back soon.
Went to the Del Mar location, overlooks the race track and mtns in the distance. Three oyster choices, swordfish and lobster taco were all very good. Brig hand shaken margarita is a good option. We had a slight mix up on reservation on a busy Friday night, which was resolved quickly and to our satisfaction
Drinks at the bar to watch the sunset, then dinner outside in the garden under the stars. Waiter service was attentive and the chosen dishes were extremely flavourful and thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Looking forward to going again sooner rather than later. Really lovely Saturday night.
Initially was expecting a great experience. Server send personal and professional. But once did was ordered he was done. Had dirty plates on table for 20 minutes after completing course. On the different occasions our silverware was taken away and not replaced - even leaving the plates one time!) Did not pour wine. Empty drink glasses cluttered the table. Stuffed shrimp entree were like hockey pucks. Bacon was so over cooked you couldn't cut it.
Really bummed. Wish like hell we could take that evening back. What a waste of money and time.
We had a reservation and our table was ready upon our arrival....good menu selection and each of the four of us had something different....everyone enjoyed their meals....we were celebrating 3 birthdays and our server brought two complementary desserts which were delicious. Enjoyable evening with good friends
This was my second trip to this restaurant and the Friday night crowd was lively even at 6PM. Service was great and efficient while not feeling rushed and food was delicious. A special view of the Del Mar racetrack and the every half hour or so Coaster train passing by only added to the ambiance!
60th birthday. Oysters on the Half shell were fresh and delicious. Sea bass could have been cooked just a bit less, but very good. My husband enjoyed his surf and turf. We were treated to a mud pie. The view is lovely. we sat on the covered deck. Valet parking a must. I would highly recommend.
We an extraordinary experience at The Brig last Friday evening. Although it was a busy evening we received excellent service from our waiter. My halibut was cooked to perfection! But I must admit our favorite part of the evening was the outstanding view overlooking the Del Mar Racetrack! We'll be back very soon.
