About Brigantine Del Mar
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.
A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.
The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

Brigantine Del Mar Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent! Lobster tail with Ribeye was FANTASTIC! So was the crab and cheese fondue. We only had 2 challenges.....we requested a window table in reservation, but given an internal table - even tho there were 2 that were open. Asked about them, but told they weren't available :(. Second challenge was the noise. Patio dining was LOUD! Great food and service tho. We will be back!
Sorry, but this will be our last time here. Went a couple of weeks ago and the chicken I ordered was completely dried out. Gave it a one time pass and then dined again, this time it was worse. The surf and turf was really bad. The lobster was tough and the meat was fatty, loaded with butter that pooled and completely non edible. I sent it back. Service was bad, it was wasted night out. Do not know what is going on there, but in the past, it was always reliable. New management, or new chef? I give up.
Very disappointed in my experience! An out of town visitor and I had dinner and hardly nothing went as I had hoped. The good part was that we were immediately seated.
The noise level was so high neither of us heard anything the server said, although she seemed rather animated. I sent back a strawberry Margarita because it was so bitter tasting and the server was pleasant about doing that. The food was the biggest disappointment. We both ordered fish tacos ($21.00). The tacos and fries (there were very few) were cold. The Cole slaw tasted like cardboard. We both went away hungry because the portions were so small. The tortillas were soggy from the sauce on the fish tacos. I won't go back.
The Caesar salad is VERY small. I was hosting this dinner, and was embarrassed by how small the salads were. The dinner menu needs to be as varied as the lunch menus. Our waitress said we could not order appetizers from the bar menu . We just wanted more choices.
In a very nice spot of Del Mar the Brigantine has been one of our favorite spots. The food and the service is usually very good there. prices are reasonable for a mainly seafood place. And the view of the famous Del Mar Horse racing Track amazing. Valet parking is only $5
Took my in laws from Pennsylvania here because all the locals say 'Brigantine is a must!' Unfortunately we had a awful experience. I work in a restaurant and am easy to please. Our server didn't make eye contact. He seemed so distracted and annoyed by anything we needed or asked for (which wasn't much). He forgot my drink order, we were only a table of four. The food took FOREVER! Like over 45 mins... drinks took over 25 mins... they brought out the wrong food for my husband and I. So we have to wait an additional 15 mins. Our food was over priced, cold, and small. We went to Cucina down the street afterwards and split a pizza. Will never go back. Food was nasty, service sucked.
A great place for brunch on Sunday but table for six was in the middle, noisy. Service outstanding. On a nice day sitting outdoors at the bar counter overlooking the Racetrack looks like best seats. Very reasonable prices. Bottomless mimosas a plus! Gave the birthday girl a free dessert, wonderful location, friendly staff, good food.
We stopped here after seeing a wonderful play in San Diego (we did mak reservations).
We had the Oysters Rock which were the best we have ever had. I had the fillet medallions with small crab cakes, grilled asparagus, and béarnaise sauce, It was absolutely scrumptious. My wife had a special of halibut with scalliops and a special sauce. The scallops were huge and the best my wife had tasted ... ever. The halibut was prepared perfectly. A couple came in while our meals were being served and asked what my wife had. Well they both ordeed that special. We are hoping they have that halibut special again.
The service was great and the meals were served fairly promply. Note that the parking is necessariy valet ($5.00). We will be back again soon.
Food was good and my parents really enjoyed the restaurant. However, the bathrooms needed to be cleaned and were out of toilet paper. Also, our waiter didn't stop by very often so there were things he forgot to bring us, our waters were not refilled, and bread was not given though I saw it on other tables.
We are vacationing here and have already eaten at the original Brigantine three times, two with family and friends. Josafin was an extraordinary wait person and Stephanie was not far behind. The guy servers we had, Mat and Somebody, were perfunctory. We were celebrating the return of our nephew, Brendon, who just concluded six month on the Carl Vinson which arrived Friday. Cheers!
We went for dinner here on a thursday night, busy because of the fair, didn't like that everyone has to valet for 5$. We had a reservation and there were many open tables on the patio, but they tried to seat us right next to the server station, we were quickly moved to another table. Ordered wine, which was fairly priced, ordered salads, which were fine, our waiter seemed to have disappeared, we had empty water glasses, etc. we then noticed he had tables inside and out on the patio, no way can you take care of this many tables and do a good job. Entrees arrived, my husband was missing his knife (it was taken with the salad plate), no server in sight to replace it, so I shared mine. Food was ok, i had fish and chips, good fish, cold fries, no no waiter to say anything to. There are many other places to eat in Del Mar for the same cost, go to Sbicca or Jakes, much better food.
our reservation was late (2:30p) and could tell that our waiter had probably been there since the morning. We also were probably his last table and it seemed he just wanted to get out of there. Seldom came back to see if we needed anything, always had to flag him down when he forgot something.
Overall so disappointing, wish we would have picked another restaurant , like Jakes, Chart House or even Pacific Coast Grill
We came to celebrate my girlfriends 22nd birthday with 4 of our friends and we had exquisite service. We ordered the amazing coconut French toast and brig scramble with endless mimosas and we were treated like royalty. There was never a moment where our glasses were not topped off and our waiter checked in on us frequently to see if we needed anything. A+ dining and service!!
We have been to this restaurant several times. We usually stop by at least once a year when we are in town. The quality of the food, service and overall atmosphere has all gone down since we were here last year. It's very disappointing since this was a restaurant we could always count on for a good meal.
We visited this restaurant 3 times the last 20 days and we spent over $1200 combined. Our last time which was also our 32nd year anniversary was not as good as the two previous times. The food was good but the service was abrupt and non accommodating for the what we visited this place for.
