About Brigantine Del Mar
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.
A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.
The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

Brigantine Del Mar Ratings and Reviews
Came here for my mom's birthday before the horse races! The view is stunning. Overlooks the Del Mar Race Track! We ordered from the brunch menu and everyone was pleased with their meal. I would recommend the surf and turf breakfast burrito... soooo good! Bloody Mary was delicious and the bottomless mimosas were great! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!
A group of 6 met here instead of going to Del Mar early and trying to fight for a decent meal.
Matt, our server was excellent and I ordered your famous 'cheesy bread' (twice) which was a huge hit appetizer. For me it brought back fond memories of the Morton family while Mike and I were active in the San Diego Downtown Rotary Club many years ago. The overall setting is spectacular!
Most of us had salads of one sort or another. They were plentiful (1/2 orders mostly) and delicious. We needed additional dressings, and Matt was quick to resolve that issue.
Our time at the Brigantine, Del Mar added to a wonderful 'day at the races'.
Took my mom for her 94th birthday. (She wanted scenic views.) Overlooked the Del Mar Race Track (wish there had been a race going on). The food was interesting: the seared ahi was delicious! The shrimp and grits combination was tasty. Mom loved the scallops. To top off our celebration, the waiter brought her a gigantic slice of mud pie on the house!
overall good, but disappointed in service. also went there last year and my wife had a fantastic Bloody Mary, but this time it was so so. I believe it was the waiter's attitude, he didn't really seem to care about making sure the Bloody Mary was as good as last time.
Anyway, we love the Brig and will be back!
We had a great table on the patio with a great view of the racetrack and the ocean. Our waiter Matt was extraordinary! He made the day for us---so pleasant, very attentive service without hovering, and got everything perfect! We were there for a small business meeting and the noise level was energetic enough, yet quiet enough to easily carry on conversations. Great experience! We will be back!
There were 6 of us. We all thought the seafood was very dry and over cooked. 3 of us had the Sand Dabs. They were heavily breaded and very crusty. Hard to even cut. The Fish and Chips were very dry and overlooked. Disappointing. The chairs around our table were so uncomfortable, we were sitting on wooden slats! Finally at the end of the evening we saw that many chairs had soft cushions. Why not ours? This turned out to be a very disappointing evening. Not sure if I would go back.
Service, service, service! In my opinion, that is what makes a fantastic experience at any restaurant. Clayton, our server at the Brigantine in Del Mar, was exceptional. We never felt as if he forgot about, as can happen at many busy restaurants. Before this experience, I was ready to give up going out to eat. Thanks, Clayton, for renewing my confidence in the restaurant business. We shall return!
Brought us to undesirable table, had to request a move.
Crowded, noisy, inexperienced server. Didn't bring one meal till reminded, so one person had to eat when everyone else finished.
Twice brought wrong things. Cold side of fries.
Just overall poor for a special occasion
The food was good, however the service was terrible. Mike was our server, He never one time checked for refills , He waited on everyone around us, Even those that were seated after us .
Very frustrating to spend this kind of money for that kind of service .We were here on vacation and this restaurant was recommended to us as top pick , We will not be recommending it to anyone .
Food was excellent! Lobster tail with Ribeye was FANTASTIC! So was the crab and cheese fondue. We only had 2 challenges.....we requested a window table in reservation, but given an internal table - even tho there were 2 that were open. Asked about them, but told they weren't available :(. Second challenge was the noise. Patio dining was LOUD! Great food and service tho. We will be back!
Sorry, but this will be our last time here. Went a couple of weeks ago and the chicken I ordered was completely dried out. Gave it a one time pass and then dined again, this time it was worse. The surf and turf was really bad. The lobster was tough and the meat was fatty, loaded with butter that pooled and completely non edible. I sent it back. Service was bad, it was wasted night out. Do not know what is going on there, but in the past, it was always reliable. New management, or new chef? I give up.
Very disappointed in my experience! An out of town visitor and I had dinner and hardly nothing went as I had hoped. The good part was that we were immediately seated.
The noise level was so high neither of us heard anything the server said, although she seemed rather animated. I sent back a strawberry Margarita because it was so bitter tasting and the server was pleasant about doing that. The food was the biggest disappointment. We both ordered fish tacos ($21.00). The tacos and fries (there were very few) were cold. The Cole slaw tasted like cardboard. We both went away hungry because the portions were so small. The tortillas were soggy from the sauce on the fish tacos. I won't go back.
The Caesar salad is VERY small. I was hosting this dinner, and was embarrassed by how small the salads were. The dinner menu needs to be as varied as the lunch menus. Our waitress said we could not order appetizers from the bar menu . We just wanted more choices.
