About Brigantine Del Mar
A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.
A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.
The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.

Brigantine Del Mar Ratings and Reviews
This is a popular watering hole for a younger crowd. Looked like a place people meet at after work to have drinks and some dinner. The food was ok but wouldn't consider it great. I ordered the scallops and the plate had only 3 scallops and some chopped veggies, my wife ordered shrimp and she also had only 3. We ordered a spoon cake with ice cream and what we got looked like a brownie with ice cream on top. All in all there are better restaurants in Del Mar with better food.
This was a very disappointing meal. We love the Brigantine, but both food and service were very poor this evening. We started with a glass of wine and shared the coconut shrimp appetizer, which was good. We had consumed about one-third of our drinks when the waitress asked if we were ready for another round (?) My niece and I both ordered the NY strip steak medium rare. The steaks were thin and overdone. The vegetables that accompanied the steak were fine. We pointed out the doneness of the steak (neither piece of meat had a trace of pink inside) - the waitress said "it looks medium to me." We shared the key lime pie for dessert, which was good. There was never one word of apology for the preparation of the main course, but our dessert and appetizer were comped on the bill. It didn't help that we were surrounded by three tables with screaming children. We'll skip the Brig next time.
We were tricked into sitting in the banquet area to the left of the restaurant. Horrible area with banquet tables and plastic folding chairs. Service was not sincere. Plates are auctioned off at the table when they arrived. Caesar salad was bad scallops were nice .
If you sit in the main dining area or the outdoor balcony the ambiance is nice.
The Brigantine in Del Mar was, as always, a perfect restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The service, from everyone, but especially our waitress, was phenomenal and the food was great! And the atmosphere is great! The views to the race track and the beach are incredible! A must for anyone wanting to enjoy a great meal and an incredible atmosphere at reasonable prices.
Really a hit or miss.
For the starters the calamari were great, but some of the shrimps were dry, others nice.
For the entrees the cod was great, the gumbo was just pain salty, etc.
This restaurant needs some consistency.
A great place to dine for a casual or an evening out. Great view of the lagoon and the Del Mar race track. Been here for lunch too. Would highly recommend requesting patio seating. It also has a unique grass bar area down below, good for happy hour. Bar gets very loud and packed so if you want a quiet dinner ask for inside seating. They are great a trying to accommodate you even on the busiest of nights.
The Brigatine is a great location, across from Ocean in Delmar with deck dining overlooking the Delmar Race Track. Lunch was delicious (the shrimp tacos), great selection of beer, service was polite and overall atmosphere upbeat and nice vibe on a Friday afternoon :)
I had reservations last night for 6:15 PM and arrived at approximately 6:20 PM. When I arrived, the valet parking was backed up enough where I had to sit in my car and wait about 15 minutes before I could get my car in position and a valet came to give me my claim ticket. It was my first time at that restaurant, so I don't know or didn't see any alternative to valet parking, plus I had a handicapped person in my car and couldn't park far from the entrance. So last night I found a reservation no show in my email and tried to use the link to correct it. The link didn't work so I searched all over Open table to find out what I might have overlooked to access the link. I finally found that I received my Open Table points for last night's reservation. So I noticed that Open Table sent me my reservation no show at 6:27 PM last night. I believe that since I had to wait 15 minutes for the valet and couldn't check in on time, the restaurant listed me as a no show on Open Table. I had to spend 15 minutes waiting for valet, about 30 minutes trying to find out how to correct a reservation no show in Open Table and also about another 10 minutes writing up this review, just to dine last night. I believe that there were not enough valets to handle cars trying to enter or maybe they ran out of parking lot space. Either way, the valets should have told the hostess that there were delays in parking people and that they might be late for their reservations. Also at the end of our meal, we asked for a dessert menu and we had to wait about 10 minutes to get it. One of the people at the table said if we have to wait that long for the dessert menu, he didn't want to find out how long it would take to order and receive our dessert. So we decided to ask for our check and leave. That was my first time dining there and will be my last time dining at Brigantine.
Due to racing season, this is a jam packed place at lunch hour. Service was slow, food ho hum, but nice setting. My lobster/crab salad was flavorless, even with addition of salt and pepper I had to ask for. Watery iceberg lettuce, bread that tasted like styrofoam. Not a good experience compared to other Brigs we've been to.
I have been to the Del Mar Brig many times, but this time I was disappointed. The waiter was quite pushy about getting appetizers, seemed put out that we did not want any and that I did not want ice in my water, he was only moderately interested in our party.
The mussels were very disappointing. They were minuscule in size, and the broth was awful. The waiter did not bring a dish for the shells or a spoon / little fork for the dish.
I will still go back, but I hope they address this.
The setting was wonderful (view of race track and hills and the restaurant had a pretty garden) but the food was bland. We had four different meals amongst us and I was not impressed with anything. I didn't think you could mess up a Moscow mule but they figured out a way to do it. I wouldn't go back unless I wanted a good view....
We went there for our 20th Anniversary. The hostess congratulated us when we arrived and so did the server. The server was good but could have been just a bit faster on the drinks. The food was good and was well priced but the halibut and fillet both needed a little more seasoning. They were both a little bit bland for my taste. Also when we sat down they need to make sure all place setting and menus are clean. We did not receive any candle or dessert for out anniversary which I don't know if they do but they do it for birthdays. Over all we were a little bit disappointed this visit but really love coming to the Brigantine because they have a great menu and drinks for the price and the staff always have great personalities.
I asked for a quiet table when making the reservation, and they put us outside as far away from people as possible. While I appreciated them trying to place us somewhere quieter,it was a chilly evening and heat lamps were not available. Ultimately they moved us indoors. I appreciated their flexibility, and our waiter Chad was awesome. We always enjoy dinner here...
