From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out - the entire dining experience was so delightful. Our waitress was beyond amazing....she could not do enough for us, even though her station was full, it was like we were the only people she was waiting on.
The food was delicious, the presentation outstanding - which made the entire afternoon Birthday celebration outstanding.
Have always enjoyed the Brig over the years. I've had many friends from out of the neighborhood and with varied tastes and they all enjoyed the experience and have been repeaters. The restaurant must be doing something right when people drive 30 or 40 miles and ask for the Brig! Then there are my out of state friends and during
their visits the Brig is always on the menu. And...oh yeah... I like it too.
Cod with roasted carrots and smashed goat cheese potatoes was fantastic!!
Have been here many times. Most often at lunch. The food, service and openness of the restaurant all come together for a wonderful time. The fish taco is excellent in both portion size and price. If your looking to have lunch by yourself or with friend, family or business associates. It will never disappoint. Note: use the valet parking. Street parking can be a real problem.
We have patronized the various Brigantine locations for years. With the exception of one, unnamed location, food, service, and ambiance can be counted on to be good at the least. This visit to the Del Mar location was at the upper end as far as experiences go. We had a nice view, and our waiter, Scott. was pleasant and helpful. I have several "favorites" on the menu, but being a Southerner, when I saw Shrimp and Grits on the menu, I had to ask him about them. He said people were raving about them, so I gave them a try. I was not disappointed. A restaurant in my native Charleston, SC would have been proud to serve them. Scott was attentive without being intrusive...a talent. Since it was out Anniversary, we received a complimentary dessert. Like the rest of our meal, it was very good.
Consistency can be a good thing.
Beautiful location, view to kill for. Except for appetizers (coconut shrimp) which was excellent, food was bland, almost tasteless. Fries were soggy, thai sea food was completely devoid of any spices, thai or otherwise. Service was very nice, but also surprisingly fast - food must have been just microwaved.
I found the swordfish to be boring and vegetables to be lacking.
My wife had the chef special which was shrimp and scallops with a mushroom pumpkin risotto and it was very tasty.
We always enjoy our visit...great view of the "track." Fund waitresses in the bar with great happy hour prices.
Usually come for birthdays and anniversaries - we are seniors and save up for the special event or our "date night out!"
Usually good service - especially in the bar and with some waiters/waitresses...this visit was not as good as usual.
MY MEAL WAS OVERPRICED FOR DRIED OUT CRAB STUFFED SHRIMP + PORTIONS ARE VERY SMALL. THE ROOM IN THE BACK WAS NOT AIR CONDITIONED - HOT AND STUFFY.
First time for my wife and I. Great service. Staff very friendly. Food was excellent. Good drink selection. Great ambiance. Moderately priced. Casual to business casual attire. Great for a romantic date or getting together with friends. Don't look for parking valet is very reasonable. We highly recommend.
Was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the view was from the Brig Del Mar. My Mahi Mahi grilled veggies were a little too underdone and my Moscow Mule was weak. The waiter took the price of the drink off the bill and would have done something about the veggies, too, if I had said something. I was there with 4 friends, and all were pleased. Great coconut shrimp appetizer! All in all, a wonderful event...even with the little nuisance issues.
Always have great service & door at a Brig!
The device was slow But once received Meal was very much enjoyed.
I was with a business group that was working in the Del Mar area and we were looking for someplace "nice" to eat. In other words a little above the ordinary but won't break the meals budget. We definitely did better than 'a little above ordinary". It was the first time at the Brigantine Del Mar for all of us and it was a very pleasant evening with great food and great service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food that is also affordable.
The restaurant personnel starting at the Hostess station were amazing. We got there a little early and the table they had for us, was not acceptable...so they jumped through hoops and
gave us an amazing table with an amazing waiter. The dinner presentation was great, the service was great - which made the entire evening special.
Excellent menu, including the drink menu. Thank you for the gluten free selections!!! Our waiter, Tate, was very knowledgeable and friendly. One of my favorite places when we are in SoCal.
Very enjoyable meal that was priced right ...Seafood was terrific! Service was outstanding...
my son and i reserve a table before going to the races on labor day weekend for lunch. when we arrived it looked crowded and no place to park. when we pulled in we were handled immediately by the valet staff and went in and were seated immediately at a deck table with a beautiful view. fish tacos, hamburger and margarita were top drawer. we will return!
We sat inside and the air was turned up too high. The vent blew cold air right on our table. We asked twice for the fan to be turned off. Next time we would sit outside and also enjoy a better view.
Visiting from out of town, we were meeting with an friend who lives in the area. We asked him what would be a nice place for lunch, and the Brigantine Del Mar was quickly his response.
The reservation process was a breeze as we were able to do everything on line. And they were accommodating when we ran about 30 minutes late getting out of Los Angeles.
Most everyone in our group of 5 had salads, which were all very well portioned and good ltasting. The service was promt and attentive, and our server well informed about the menu and the various options. We would definitely go to this restaurant again!
We were treated as "royalty" the moment we checked in...they were ready to make sure our 54th anniversary would be remembered for a lifetime.
Always a great experience at the Brig! Except this time. Ordered the strip steak. Lots of fat and gristle. Not shaped like a strip, think I got a top round or something. Did not care for the waitperson. Rushed us at first, then seemed to forget about us. Said he would bring bread. Did not. When I reminded him he asked, oh did you want bread? Never a second pour of wine or water. Just not very attentive until he allowed my wife to bring birthday dessert home. A little too little, too late for me!
If you're looking for anything to knock your socks off, this won't do it. But if you're looking for good food with a great view overlooking the race track-this is your spot.
The food is as good as any other seafood/oyster joints- you're paying for the atmosphere.
They have an indoor area and a glassed in patio area, we went and the patio was packed but the indoor area was empty (sunny san diego, what would you expect?)
I had reservations for 12 but called at 11:15 to change to 12:30- the lady said I was all set, however, when I arrived they didn't change my reservation and gave a bit of an attitude about us being late for our 12pm until I said the person's name who made the changes. No apologies- just sat us. Other than that moment of snottiness, the service was great-the food was average. Not bad but not great- average and hit the spot. The drinks are pricey but good. Overall, it was your average experience at a location that is making money for it's views.
We had a nice, quiet birthday lunch. So happy the hostess did not seat children in our area!
WE COME BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN ACQUAINTED WITH THE MORTONS AND LIKE TO SUPPORT THE RESTAURANT. NEXT TIME, I'LL ASK FOR OUTSIDE IF I WANT TO HEAR OR BE HEARD. IT WAS FRANTIC FEELING AND YOUR STAFF SHOULD BE COMPLIMENTED TO FILL THE NEEDS AS NICELY AS THEY DO. LOVE THE MENU AND JUST MIGHT MENTION THAT THE VALET SERVICE IS ALSO FRANTIC…EVER THOUGHT OF ADDING ANOTHER EXIT? ALL THE BEST.
Service slow, had to ask for food, ice tea, water. WayToo loud. Did not appreciate being seated next to a large party with screaming young women. Seating was too tight to be comfortable.
Booked a reservation through open table the day of. That night we got seated at the most amazing table like on this stage thing right by a waterfall. It was just us up there and it was so so nice. Don't know how we scored that table, but thank you for making dinner with my grandparents so special!
Been here a few times. Whenever we are in town, it's a must to eat here.
The Brigantine delivers again. The food, service and atmosphere were all were phenomenal. When in Del Mar, Brigantine.
Enjoyable local seafood spot. This place was suggested by some locals and we were glad that we checked it out. Many places in the area had similar menus but this one and some items that caught our eye. Good meal all around. Make a reservation as we got a nice seat outside along the rail.
Always wanted to try this and sorry I didn't go sooner. Went for brunch and the food was excellent. Loved the Coconut Macadamia French Toast, Chicken and Waffles and Swordfish Tacos. The staff was attentive but didn't rush us. Very relaxed atmosphere for brunch. Thumbs up all around.
Beautiful views and lovely location. We came to dinner straight from the Del Mar racetrack and were well accommodated with timely seating and view. We received a complimentary dessert in honor of an anniversary celebration. This was a first visit for the couple joining us and they loved the restaurant ambiance. Thank you for a nice evening!
Great service from the time we walked up to the hostess stand, to the super service by our wonderful Lauren. We had some picky friends and she took care of us with a smile and it was sincere. Our food was so tasty and the drinks were fun and perfectly mixed.
We had a wonderful view of the race track. There were more kids than I was expecting (I am a parent, but wouldn't bring my kids here), but it was a big place, out doors, so it wasn't an issue.
Food was really tasty. I don't eat fish, but liked the skirt steak and fries. Our guests were thrilled with deserts and the whole ambiance. Very impressive for the out of towners.
Can't wait to go back.
Great place to eat after a day at the races in Del Mar. Good food and great scenic view of the ocean.
Must I continue to write great reviews??? The Big Brig Breakfast will fill you up and put a smile on your face, like it did with me this time around. Go here before the race track or after, but make a reservation through Open Table prior to secure seating.
I've been going to the Brig for quite a while now. This visit was with friends and we both had infants with us. It was great because it was loud and my son was loud. The view is great, and we were on the upper covered patio and on the lower patio there was a wedding reception going on, which was kind of fun to see. Even though the bar was backed up, and it took a while to get our drinks the service was impeccable. The server gave us plenty of attention, was friendly and kept us updated on our food and drinks. The food came out hot and with great presentation. All in all it was a great experience.
Brig. accommodated our request for view table to wow our out of town guests and didn't disappoint. Scallops and swordfish were great as always. Had a great experience after the races at Del Mar track
Halibut and sole not as tasty as expected. Roasted brussel sprouts were wonderful. Server very attentive and personable. Outdoops much quieter than inside plus great view
The perfect place to celebrate the wife's birthday. We will go back.
Had brunch here last Sunday with friends in from Orange County. Arrived at 10:20 and were seated right at 10:30 when the restaurant opened. Service started out slow with the waiter taking forever to take our drink order and then deliver the drinks. Had to ask for water twice. But our food order was taken quickly and efficiently and delivered very promptly with all meals prepared exactly as ordered and served piping hot. The food was delicious and portions are generous. The restaurant filled in very quickly as I am sure some people were there for brunch before heading to the Del Mar horse races. The menu is very diverse with something for everyone. Prices are good and they offer a $3.00 glass of champagne with the breakfast items that can't be beat. Overall an excellent choice for a great Sunday breakfast.
