Great location, but staff maybe a bit understaffed. Staff is stretched pretty thin.
Great food and professional service. A great experience as usual.
Some dishes are too salty to me. Like clam shower and gambo.
Pairing with wine might be ok.
Great place both for everyday dining as well as special occasion as was our case!
It is always a delightful and delicious experience to dine at Brigantine. The food is healthy, light, fresh, and super tasty! The service is impeccable. The view and location are gorgeous. And the whole ambiance is relaxed, upbeat, and bright. Every time we visit is a treat and we can't wait to go back again.
Nice atmosphere, good food, cool scenery, great service, and reasonably priced for our lunch experience. I have already recommended it to my daughter.
Took my BF for his Bday dinner-we walked in and the Hostess greeted us with a warm friendly smile, the cocktails appetizers and main courses were ALL excellent, was cozy & romantic and our waiter Todd was just awesome, we had a blast! Thank you Brig!
Food had no flavor and presented very poorly.
Most entrees were over cooked and very noisy.
I will not come back or recommend to any of my numerous associates....go up highway 101 2 miles and have a much better experience at the ChartHouse which we went to the night before,
We were looking for a restaurant close to the Belly Up, where we were heading for a concert. I had long heard of the Brigantine Restaurants throughout San Diego county, but this was my first time to actually try. We were pleased there was valet parking. The entry at this point is quite inviting. Once inside, the restaurant opens up to a bar to the right, dining to the left, and "patio" dining straight ahead, smooth flow.
We were asked which we preferred, inside or patio. I noted that this was our first visit, so she recommended the patio. At this time of year it is enclosed with wall-to-wall windows which obviously can open when the weather is warmer. You can see Del Mar Racetrack from here, and hear the Coaster whizzing by. Very nice. We'll be back to enjoy the view with the windows open.
We shared a small plate of broiled oysters (not quite Dragos N.O., but nice). Wish I had ordered one or two raw oysters (the waiter mentioned the daily varieties available), which you can order individually (usually restaurants require 6 minimum). My husband had seared day boat scallops, which he really enjoyed, and I had a half order of crab & lobster cobb salad, very nice.
Yeah, we'll be back.
It was a very busy Sunday night, so the service was a little off from usual, but the food was excellent! I loved that we were seated on the patio by the window because of the great view, but I was very cold the whole time, so don't think I'd do that again except in the summer. Overall, a very good dining experience & I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
As always the food was fabulous and Todd was great. The weather was nice and the windows were open on the back deck which made a very enjoyable afternoon.
Just wish the waiters carried duct tape for the extra loud women at the next table. :)
Great food, great value and excellent service. Every time I go to the Brig I am glad I did. I can always count consistently good food and atmosphere.
Very good food. Salmon as delicious and Swordfish was great as usual.
Waiter was nice but I asked about the clam chowder? Wanted to know if it was mostly cream and potatoes. He said clam ratio good. Not in my opinion-too many potatoes. I had Caesar with anchovy and grilled shrimp. Generous anchovy but shrimp mediocre -over cooked and tasteless. Bread warm. Husband had gumbo he said it was good but wouldn’t reorder. Best was app crab cake. Good slaw under, delicious crab but share it. Quite rich. Could do with less “creamy” in slaw. Ambiance is nice but only gave 3 stars due to noise level exceedingly high both nights we tried.
Great spot near the water, delicious food, nice staff, and very comfortable environment!
we had a great time, we were 30 minutes late and they kept our table on a busy night. there was another huge group in our same room, but that didn't take away from our service (it did, however, make for tight quarters and the waiters had to bump the backs of chairs to get by). I have been to this location many times after the horse races at Del Mar and have always enjoyed.
This is a solid, somewhat old fashioned place. I had Sand dabs and my husband had short ribs.
Both were good.
I asked the waitress a question about the side dishes and without confirming our order she turned it in and we had our food in 5 minutes. We would have liked to enjoyed our drinks a bit longer.
We shared the Smores brownie dessert was was not great.
We were on vacation and wanted somewhere with fairly simple food and this was it.
One of the best places to eat in Del Mar
A comfortable tasty local restaurant.
Excellent food, good service, beautiful view, enjoyed it very much
The view of the track and La Jolla to the south was stunning! Went for an early lunch during the week off season and it was perfect! Yummy food! Appetizer crab and shrimp fondue delicious! Grilled Sonoran spiced swordfish tacos perfect! Our server was awesome! His recommendations were appreciated because we enjoyed our lunch!
Chad also made our lunch experience special! Chad was attentive and friendly, with a beautiful smile! It's a wonderful place to share with out of town guests!
My first time there and it was great love the atmosphere and the food
Lively and loud. Good meals but conversation at our table for 4 was difficult. Service was slow. 10-15 minute wait after being seated to be greeted or served water or drinks order taken.
Great food and great view. This was our second time for brunch and oysters. I am looking forward to our third time.
Excelbt service, great food. Very pleasant overall experience.
Well, ordered a Bloody Mary, too spicy and did not have any garnishes. 2 of the guests food came out 15-20 minutes before the rest of the parties came out, so when it was finally eaten, it was cold. Ordered veggies, got chips. Calamari was greasy....we usually have a good experience at Brig. Not a good day.
Well I reserved a table for an anniversary with a view and they sat me right in the middle of the crowded room with NO view. Was nothing special although we enjoy the restaurant and the food.
We go back as often as we can when visiting San Diego and Carlsbad. Love it!
Brigantine Del Mar never disappoints. Great atmosphere, beautiful view of the ocean, racetrack and lagoon. Menu choices are all excellent. We always leave feeling like this redtaurant was a wonderful choice, no matter what the occasion was. And today, lunch was no exception!
Great restaurant. Very friendly waitress was a delight. Attentive an helpful.
We went there for Valentines Day. I ordered the Halibut special and he ordered the swordfish. When the server delivered our food (not our main server) she got the orders mixed up and gave me the swordfish and he the other. We didn't even realize it at the time as you would think the halibut would be nice and thick. Anyway I got the swordfish and it was delicious! It had a great smokey flavor, I was happy with it. My date got the halibut which was not very good, a thin piece and the avocado frisee was too spicy for hm and a little overcooked. I had a cup of clam chowder (couldn't find a clam) but the flavor was acceptable. We also had a spinach salad and a iceberg wedge with bleu cheese, both very good. Creme Brûlée and mint cheesecake and coffee finished the meal. Mat, our server was great, with a very charming personality and everyone was friendly and made us feel welcome. Yes I would recommend this restaurant. Pre dinner drinks and a bottle of wine also. Prices were reasonable as well.
It was a special day, Valentine and Anniversary, often celebrated in exotic locations such as Thailand, Hawaii, and Monterey that didn’t always meet expectations. We chose Briggantine Del Mar because of its excellent reviews and it’s proximity to where business was conducted that day. It was a choice that we will forever cherish.
Request for seating ,and what a view, was met, and impeccable service that was open to alternatives to a full menu that would appeal to the most discriminating pallets set the perfect ambience for a perfect evening. We ordered Halibut, Salmon and Gumbo that were some of the best we have savored.
Paradise is where you make it and our choice for that special occasion will be Briggantine Del Mar. It was a evening that met all our expectations beyond imagination and that we’ll never forget.
I love the Brig - always a go-to place. Good food, excellent ambiance.
Great ambiance and fresh oysters. Bit disappointed in the overall taste and quality of shrimp Louie and crab and their famous fish tacos. Tacos lacked flavor and taste. Oysters on the rock were the best and very fresh. I would come here for lunch but will skip dinner. Great atmosphere and excellent service by Hailey.
Recommend a reservation. And don't waste time - pay the $6 for valet parking and get inside. Service was great. We experienced being taken care of.
FOOD WAS COLD. My date was asked what he ordered 4 times. We got asked for appetizers twice after we already ordered. Meal came out same time as dinner. Terrible
Beautiful views, pricey but had a good happy hour in the bar area.
Nice restaurant location with a great view of the Del Mar race track while on the covered patio. The food was good (best crab cake I ever had), except they messed up our order. I would have given five stars but the service was poor. We did not want to wait for two of our three meals to be sent back and made again. They didn’t offer to take a penny off the bill. Also, they didn’t even refill our drinks or offer bread. We had to ask after seeing other tables receive bread. Hopefully the service isn’t poor all the time.
Visiting from Denver. We really enjoyed the mahi mahi and scallops. Looked like a gorgeous patio out back where a special event was being held. The bar was packed when we arrived at 6pm, so I’m guessing they have a great and very popular happy hour.
Had a good lunch overlooking the lagoon and railroad tracks. Not a sea view but pretty. Great folding glass window. Comfortable but no sun control. We had to keep shifting our chairs.
We left with a surprise $6 valet fee. When we arrived, there was no option, even though I would’ve been happy to park myself in their mostly empty lot. The valet never said anything either. I paid, after tipping, almost the same amount lunch cost.
Took more than 1hr to get food; had to ask twice to get bread; never got water refill; waiter mixed up order; forgot to split bill as asked. Food was excellent as usual.
