About Brigantine Coronado

A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received numerous accolades during our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few.

Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish & Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks & grilled meats.

A favorite destination for locals & tourists alike, the Coronado Brigantine is located in the heart of the village, immediately adjacent to the historic Hotel Del Coronado.

Completely remodeled in 2016, the "new" Coronado Brigantine is an elegant adaptation of its former self. The addition of an intimate private dining room, a surround-seating bar and street-side outdoor patio have been equally well-received.

The Coronado Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, as well as lunch Monday-Saturday.

Reliable is not a boring thing; it's a good thing -- and The Brig is reliable. Our server was enthusiastic & likes her job. The Brigantine Fish Tacos are done in an almost tempura-like batter, and their coleslaw is not smothered in mayonnaise. Opt for the house-made chips; they are outstanding. The spinach salad with chicken breast is light & flavorful. Outdoors, you have a view of the Hotel Del Coronado. Inside, there's a friendly bar. This place is a treat.

They did a great job on the remodel. The food is good but nothing spectacular. The waiter made up for it with good service. Nice drinks and EZ parking, thanks

Service great, food was average. We hoped for more based on history and reputation.
Sword fish was dry and crab cakes average.

Sunday at 4:30 pm, Fernando took care of us, brilliant and quick. Wonderful food (oysters & mussels so yummy), even my elderly Dad was chowing down. Steaks delicious, salads tasty, chairs comfy. We went after a matinee at a local theater. They even kindly turned down the music (speaker) above our table in the Crown room, so my Dad's hearing aids weren't buzzing. We ranged in age from 16 to 93 and we all had a good time. Thanks, we'll be back!

The restaurant forgot to bring the appetizers we had ordered, so they brought them after we had received our entrees. But, they stepped up and didn't charge us for the appetizers, so it's actually good to see a restaurant make things right without being asked. It makes for good reviews and customers who will come back again, which we will!

Unfortunately we had the ribeye steak bone in and the sauce was so rich that when we got home we were both suffering indigestion....we should of stuck to seafood which is always wonderful. The Cesar salad and chowder were very good.

One of my favorite places for myself and to bring friends-
I have to say I preferred the old decor (darker and cozier)
But I’m sure the openess is preferred by many.

Every time we visit Coronado we go to the Brigantine. It is in a great location on Orange Ave. and close to the Hotel Del Coronado. They have a variety of dishes to choose from. My only suggestion would be to have more vegetable choices as carrots and green beans are the only choice offered (unless you choose a dish that offers asparagus). The atmosphere is great and there is indoor and outdoor dining.

An upscale casual dining restaurant in the heart of Coronado Island. The service was great and the atmosphere was too. I would recommend this restaurant if you are on the island.

Looking for a comfy dinner on our last night in Coronado this was great. Super, Super service, tasty, beautiful food, nice rooms. It sort of felt like being home, something that can be very comforting while traveling.

Waiter person was best part of dinner. Very vivacious and friendly. The wedge salad was good not great. The "seared true cod" was uneatable. The bread was doughy. Will not be back.

Great dinner late on a Sunday afternoon. Loved the salad with crab and lobster. My husband had the lobster tacos - not quite what you would expect for the price. The remodel is awesome. We will be back on our next visit to Coronado!

We were there for lunch. It was great seafood, the ambience was a bit ruined by a waiter moving tables and chairs around for 10 minutes, annoying. But overall I would recommend a try here since the seafood was so fresh.

This was just ok for us, the shrimp are huge but tough, and the coconut shrimp was just like eating breaded shrimp. No real flavor. Not really worth the hype. The Calamari was deep fried in strips like chicken strips. And a bit soggy. This isn't a repeat for us.

Wonderful experience! We were served promptly, with "casual professionalism" by Jessica, who guided us through the menu to two excellent choices. The Surf & Turf special was surprisingly tasty, a combination of a tender, perfectly prepared NY Strip and inventively presented prawns stuffed with crabmeat and wrapped in bacon. The other dish was The Brig's signature marinated swordfish steak. Delicious. The night we dined was within "wine week," and our bottle was half priced. We mentioned we were out-of-towners interested in the score of our home team's game, and Jessica arranged special seating in the bar with our very own flat screen to watch the end and finish our wine. We're coming back!

I took out of state guests for the special lobster feast that happened on Oct. 25. The clam chowder & lobster were both done & presented perfectly. My only complaint was that the potatoes were bland. Otherwise, a wonderful experience for half of what other places would charge. I was grateful that we were able to hear each other speak. The in and out process was so easy. The old school service is so refreshing in the midst of trendy, "Aren't we special," wait for the expensive valet, wait to be seated, shout to be heard over other noisy, rude customers. I'll be back.

Mostly everything was good. I could tell our server was suggesting the most expensive meals to try to drive up the bill for a bigger tip which is very annoying to me. The fried calamari didn't taste very fresh but everything else was great. The inside of the restaurant was cute, small and modern. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again though.

We had the best meal of our four night stay at 'The Del' at Brigantine which is right across the street from the hotel. We reserved a patio table which was all set up and ready for us when we arrived. Our server was absolutely lovely...and fun...and the food was delicious--the best Oysters Rockefeller I have ever had--delicious clam chowder and superb Sand Dabs...not to mention our "perfect" Manhattans!

Service was so friendly both with the server and the manager. I rarely write reviews they know how to be kind and do lovely gestures for their guests. Other restaurants need to learn from them.
