I like the Bridgewater when I'm going to have a conversational meal, whether business or personal. The staff treats the customers graciously, never giving the impression that they want to turn your table.
Always a great spot for brunch - ask for a table by the window.
Horrible food. Pools of grease in my soup and main meal. Ineatable. Sent everything back. Got talked into a free dessert and the creme brulee had unrecognizable black stuff on the bottom of the custard. My husband's fried fish was so dry it was hard. We went somewhere else and had real dinner.
Everything was great except the food!!! We ordered the steak special of the night. It was tough and paper thin. There was a veggie that came with it..... unidentifiable.
The special for the evening was a Kansas City strip steak. Not very tender. Sauce was good.
Service was fairly good. Love the atmosphere. Quiet.
Granted, we made a last-minute reservation for New Year's Eve and I was not aware of the very limited menu. No salad options was a big downer for my wife and I and only 3 main courses to choose from (cod, lamb and steak). Also, for a party of 2 and a child, the tip was included. I typically leave 20% or so, so the server was short-changed due to the 18% included tip. I would recommend this restaurant, because I have been there several times and had a great experience ordering off of the regular menu, but I would NOT return for NY's Eve or another limited menu special occasion.
It was a nice Christmas dinner. Wouldn't give the food 5 out of 5 stars, but it was tasty and elegant.
The food and service were good. The Christmas lights on the river were beautiful. Lovely birthday dinner.
We ate there and then walked along the river in Golden to see the beautiful light display. Food was very good and a good value. Our waitperson was very professional and attentive. Very enjoyable evening.
Hadn't seen my Brother in 5 years.
We both said what a great meal.
Easy going staff made it fun for us to catch up without a lot of interruptions.
Prime Rib Wednesdays are a must. Generous portion made for a nice lunch for me the next day. Just as mouth watering as the first time around.
Hotel is Decked out for Christmas. Beautiful.
Great restaurant in a Golden Town.
This was our first visit and we were quite impressed. We went early and, at that time, it was not busy and quiet. Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was wonderful, especially the corn/green chili bisque and the bison meatloaf. We don't live in or near Golden, but if we did, this would be somewhere we would definitely frequent on a recurring basis.
We always enjoy the service, food, and atmosphere. Great for lunch and dinner
Much less impressive than we expected. Food was mediocre and too expensive for what it was.
food was excellent, esp. my steak. food and beverage prices were reasonable. We will definately be back
What a disappointment. The ambience inside is poor. An empty salad bar and a few tables. Service was terribly slow. My dinner was cold. My son's steak had to be sent back, the other one was fine, hamburger was tasty. The average meals and very very poor service means I will never return. And it's a shame as it has a lot of promise
The service was very good. The food was up and down. An appetizer that was described as calamari and Hatch chilies was calamari and chunks of red bell pepper. That was accompanied by uninspiring tartar and cocktail sauces. I found that just squeezing the included lime and orange wedges produced the best results. The "Caesar" salad was some very nice, fresh, and crisp romaine hearts laid on a plate with sparse shavings of asiago, a filet of anchovy, and the dressing poured over all. It was a truly pathetic and inept presentation. The entree, Bison meatloaf was flavorful, served over whipped Yukon potatoes with green beans and a nice jus.
I would eat there again, but only after careful questioning about the specifics of meal preparation.
Waitress had limited knowledge of the beers and wine. A little pricey for entrees.
Wow!!! If I could give 10 Stars, I would!! Not only is the location prime, the service and food are outstanding! Everyone from Bay, Leah, Oliver, Katie and Susan were just so helpful and friendly! It made our dining experience that much better!!
Seating on the porch is beautiful. It is covered with a great view of the water. Food is good, and very ample. The only complaint I heard was it was just too much to eat. Service is great and they do take reservations which is a plus for us. Would highly recommend.
Our waiter ruined our meal. Very inattentive throughout. He spent most of his time in the back and when he was out, never looked around. We ordered our tenderloin rare to medium rare. It cam out medium. Finally the waiter came over to check on our meal. I showed him how the meat was cooked. His response... "Bummer" and he walked away.
After this experience, I am walking away!!
We had dinner with my mother after a program at Green Auditorium in the School of Mines. We appreciated a quiet table in the dining room...no loud music and very quiet even when almost full. So nice and unusual to be able to talk and listen while dining. Very good food, although I wish the server had asked how we wanted the meat on our salads cooked...was a bit underdone. My husband's fillet was excellent.
Good food, but nothing special unless you can sit outside overlooking the river. We requested outside seating in our reservation and when we got there we were told we would have to wait 20 minutes. We decided to sit inside, which just turned it into a regular hotel restaurant.
My wife had the Miners salad and couldn't stop saying "oh my god this is so good". She said it was probably the best salad she's ever had. A little pricey but the food was excellent!! Lovely setting on the river.
Visited on a short handed night, but service was very slow from.the kitchen. Salmon dish with kale had only.3.sprigs of greens. Tasty, but the house salad, small, was the only real vegetable
Having just moved to Golden a few months ago, we met a very friendly local on the Bridgewater's bridge who recommended the restaurant to us in no uncertain terms. In particular, she raved about the salmon sandwich, which she told us was delicious. She was not wrong. We have now been to the Bridgewater three times, and I have yet to order anything else. I have been told that other dishes are quite good but can't speak from first-hand experience. I can say that the outdoor seating is very pleasant and that the service has always been quite good: friendly, attentive, and efficient. It goes without saying that we will be returning. Can't guarantee that I will be exploring the menu much further, however.
We were a party of 8 and each person received individual attention and great service. One of us had a dietary requirement and the chef came out personally to discuss it -- so it was resolved in a very tasty way. Highly recommend this place. If you can, sit out on the veranda by the stream with the views of the mesa and the mountain.
Waitstaff is great! Consistently good food, atmosphere is quintessential Colorado
The food is alway's good, just need better guidance on cleanliness and service on this visit.
On a date with my lovely girlfriend. Wait staff confused about our booking we made. Refused a drink without an American ID (I am Australian), stone cold sober, was told then told there was no mint for the mojito my girlfriend ordered, we nearly just left. Food was basic, two sets of music playing over speakers, service was nothing special. I have worked in hospitality before and understand sometimes venues can just have an off night but we couldn't wait to leave.
Poor service. Waited over 10 minutes for wait person to come to the table to take first drink order. We were on the patio area, with only one other table having guests - 2. As this was a birthday dinner, birthday person got a small free dessert - nice, but even though others in the party wanted to order dessert for themselves, server simply walked away. Had to wait another 5 minutes or so before she returned and we could order. One party member had the salmon, thought it was the best he'd ever had, other members seemed to like the food, had no complaints. I had the lamb burger, thought it was just mediocre. I like the setting by the creek in Golden, but I wouldn't recommend it because of the reasons already mentioned.
I wanted to go for the outside, river front dining area however we spent over 70.00 for breakfast for four, that was equal in taste and quality to a Denny's or the like. One person in our party got the buffet after a heavy sales pitch from the server. Note: do not order it unless you go check it out first. For 18.00 per person you would expect more than the basic Costco quality pastries, eggs, bacon, fruit, potatoes...the server kept insisting it was the "best deal" in part because it included coffee. What!? Usually a bit higher end hotel has good coffee, not here. The coffee was absolutely horrible. The coffee portion of our bill was 14.00 . I would gladly pay for excellent coffee but this was hard to choke down. I kept asking for more cream just so I could get some caffeine in me without gagging on the coffee!! For the rest of us who did not get the buffet, I will say the portions were large enough to even share, but not good enough to care about eating. Very low quality ingredients, inconsistent portions from one plate to the next, sloppy plating, and everything but the bacon was all very bland and flavorless. The green chile is good, and has won at the local chile cook off so I ordered a side to dump on the rest of my meal so it was palatable.
A very disappointing and expensive mistake!
Went to brunch with the parental units while they were in town; delicious and good service. Quiet. Very large meals; we were full until like 7pm that night!
Out of town family
Cute, casual atmosphere with a nice view. Really enjoyed the slushy cocktails! Don't miss the Green Chili!!
Loved sitting outside near the river -- so scenic and pleasant. Excellent service. Very good food and drinks. Lovely historic Inn.
Our experience at the Bridgewater Grill was fair. The food was not a good value. I ordered a beet salad that was 75% spinach with 6 thin slices of beets placed on top. The salad was tasty and large, but was not a good value for the cost. The server was nice but disappeared for about 20 minutes and we had to flag someone down for the check. Looking over the menu, there were many items I wanted to try however they seemed overpriced. The deck is nice and the ambiance can't be beat.
Went in for Father's Day brunch this morning and they were having a hard time keeling the buffet stocked, which was a bummer. I'll definitely go back, but not for a holiday.
I found the prices way out of line, too high for the value. A simple iceberg wedge with toppings was poorly presented, not crisp, soggy with goop. A lunch for 2 came in at $ 70 with no alcohol. Why would we return? Most irritating of all is that your chairs are too low for the height of the tables and compromises enjoyment. Staff was kind enough to find me a pillow, yet I am an average size female. It just was not a pleasant dining experience.
Outstanding meal! From calamari appetizer, to bacon-wrapped bison meat loaf, ribs, and chef's special pork tenderloin, we all enjoyed our meals. Special note: try the coriander vinagrette on you4 salad!
