Unfortunately this pub is closing this month and our son wanted to celebrate his birthday here before they closed. It was great that we had a reservation and the place was packed. Our server was awesome and very attentive to our needs. We have been coming here since our sons were born and when the pub first opened in the 80’s - so it was bittersweet for my husband and myself.
Wanted to come in one more time before they close. Everything was wonderful!
The beer was fantastic (try Multi-Ball) and the food was just as good! We had the mushroom & smoked onion pizza and smoked salmon salad. It was delicious. Ambience was very nice - big open dining space, large wooden beams, modern clean bathrooms. It’s also kid-friendly. They had a high chair set up for us and we were able to maneuver our stroller to the table and set it off to the side. Would highly recommend if you love good beer and good food.
We are regulars here and I called ahead of time to make reservations for 10. They called me back and told me that they couldn’t accommodate us a half hour in advance and if we could wait for an hour to come in. In the meantime, my sister walked in and told them how many were in our party and they seated us right away. There was plenty of large table seating. I don’t know why the person called back and said they couldn’t seat us. Lesson learned, don’t be courteous and call ahead, just walk in and make them seat you. Our waitress was awesome and friendly and on top of everything so that was a great experience. Also, please do something about that Soundsystem. This speaker downstairs sound blown and I’m almost willing to donate speakers to not have to listen to the blown speakers downstairs.. It ruins the vibe and you can’t even hear the music because it’s a constant, annoying vibration.
It took 20+ minutes for our drinks, switched from waiter to manager but was never passed off, no one came to check on plus after our food arrived, new asked if we needed another round of drinks. Very unorganized and will likely not be going back.
My family dined here early on NYE. We had a good dinner. I had the salmon sandwich, which was good, but messy.. My husband enjoyed his pork chop entree and my son liked his kids’ meal, however that was brought out about 10-15 min before ours. The timing wasn’t the best. The downstairs bar area where we were seated was really cold. We were all freezing by the time we left. I would come back, but sit in the dining room the next time, or upstairs, if kids are allowed up there.
The atmosphere was nice and our group enjoyed the beer, but the food was less than so-so. Mine was cold upon arrival (pork chop) and the Banmi sandwich was nothing but bread.
Always an enjoyable time!
Very fun night- thank you!!
Everything was great but way, way too loud. Yelling jjust across the table to be heard.
Food was decent, but the service was ridiculous. It took us 40 minutes to order our food (group with children).
Everyone in our group of 5 was more than satisfied with their food. I got the brick burger and it was absolutely delicious. Everyone considered the soft pretzel outstanding. It was enormous, but we almost ordered a second. Which turned out to be a good call because the portions are hefty! And we were generously given two big salads of our choice while we waited for two pizzas that were only a few minutes behind our other entrees. What would have been only a slight frustration became a dining windfall. The warm mushroom salad we got for free left us particularly happy about the late pizzas.
Our service was outstanding.
It's only accessible when you are disabled if you go through a side door. They can't really do anything about that w/o a major remodel but it's still annoying. Then they shuffled us off to an area without TV's or anything where they stuck families with kids and such. Not really the brewpub experience. Once we were at a table we explained that we were using a gift voucher. We were told that was fine but that they couldn't give change if we didn't use the full amount. We could add beer to go and not "waste" any of it. Reasonable enough. We started with the corn chowder and we both really liked it. My guest had a hamburger and I had the shepherd's pie. The hamburger was fine. To me, the shepherd's pie filling seemed like it had simmered too long and had gotten a little too condensed but was OK. We were a few dollars short of the $50 dollar voucher at that point so we ordered a 22 oz bottle to go. After that it gets confusing. As I remember, we got the bill for everything which came to (I think) $52... There was also a separate bill for one of the beers we had with dinner that was already on the original bill. I asked and the server said something about the system being old and they had to do it that way, implying they couldn't just take off $50 for the voucher I think. The amount taken off my CC was the amount of the second bill, the beer I had with dinner. I didn't feel comfortable with the transaction. To be honest, I left a tip $4 less than I was planning because I was miffed that the situation wasn't explained clearly or at least I didn't understand it. Finally, when I arrived home and got the extra bottle we had purchased out of the tightly tied bag she had given it to us in, it wasn't the beer I had ordered or ever would order...
Beer was great and food was really good. Perfect for a group of friends catching up. Will definitely come back again.
Have been coming here for over 20 years. We had an early dinner reservation and they had already run out of the dinner special and the wine I was ordering for my meal. The local pork chop was good but under cooked so I didn't finish it and will cook it when I get home. WE were taking friends out for dinner and were disappointed with the experience. The wait staff were helpful but not knowledgeable about the specials when asking for a recommendation. She said that the specials are saved for the customers so the waitstaff doesn't taste them in advance to know. Really? Is that how they are instructed to guide the customer? Whose in charge here?? They just spent a lot of time on their remodel but not enough on keeping food and wine in supply.
Worth the visit! You'll find something for everyone in both food and drink. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
Great friendly service. Excellent beers!
Food was great and beer even better.
Fun dinner with friendly staff. Best sweet potato fries!
Overall a great experience. The table was ready on time. The waitress took a bit longer than expected to take our orders. But she was pleasant and the food was good.
Service was terrible. Our waitress very rarely checked on our table. We had to get her attention several times to simply order. Not sure if the restaurant was under staffed or she just wasn’t attentive. Food is really good but hard to enjoy when you have to constantly ask for service.
I surprised my husband this weekend with about 20 friends he hadn't seen in quite some time and Bridgeport was our lunch location. Everyone was very welcoming to our large party (which even had a one-year-old) and service was quick! You kept the beer flowing and food came out quickly. We were able to chat and enjoy each other's company while drinking some great beer and eating outstanding pub food! Thank you for making us a priority and helping to make my husband's 40th even better!
The best Mac & Cheese!
Great service & Food! Highly recommend the wings & potato soup!!
The food is good, service decent. Nice homey feel for a downtown pub and restaurant. There’s a wide selection of beer on the rotating tap, and a long list of specials. The beer cheese soup is excellent.
We love the food here and seems like they’ve recently done some rebranding! They have a variety of food and beer, so you’re bound to find something good!
Good beer selection. Nice happy hour food selection at reasonable prices.
We had reservations for two and showed up with 18! They never flinched . They huddled and told us 30 to 45 minutes and we wee all seated in 20. The key to any business is to roll with the market and they did it with aces. Oh the food was delicious
Even with a reservation, we sat for 15 minutes before a server came to our table. After that, it was another 15 minutes before we received our beers. We never got water refills either! Food was delicious, but that took a long time, too. Yes, it was a busy night, but 30 minutes to get a beer?
Very energetic vibe. They were out of a couple of the entrees. Loud group seated next to us, lots of families with kids, hard to hear at our table.
It was nice to meet up with friends, I had eaten prior so I just drank and the beer was fine as always.
We arrived on time for our 700 pm reservation & ended up being seated upstairs in the bar area. We were visiting from out of town & were celebrating a birthday.
The 2 appetizers that we ordered took a solid 20 minutes to arrive after being ordered. We ran out of water & asked for more, but after waiting a good 15 minutes, went up to the bar & got it ourselves.
The pizzas & the salad that we ordered were very good.
We then wanted to order a dessert to celebrate the birthday. The birthday girl ordered the fried apple pie... that took about 25 more minutes to arrive.
We didn't leave the restaurant until 1030... we should have been in and out in no more than 2 hours, maybe even sooner given what we ordered.
It's a happening place, great beer selection & the food that we had was good, but the time between placing food orders & receiving the food was a bit agonizing.
The Fish and Chips were delicious, but plan ahead because are only available on Wednesday’s! Everything else was delicious too!
Took a very, very long time to get our check and pay.
Food was good, server was attentive, and he split bill up individually for our large party. The only downside was that they were out of several food items.
Birthday dinner for my mom! I always appreciate restaurants that serve large groups with ease, don't make splitting a bill between 11 people awkward, and still do everything in a timely manner.
We had a great time and they accommodated our very large party with lots of kids well. There was plenty of space and the food was great. We will be back.
The last few times I've been to Bridgeport the place has been very busy but extremely loud. The most recent visit was no different--you could barely carry on a conversation with the person sitting next to you let alone someone across the table so everyone at the table was essentially left out of everyone else's conversations. Maybe they could install some noise dampers or something?
The food was okay but I really wish there were more gluten-free options for Celiacs. (They have a shared fryer so the only real things I can eat are the not very flavorful Vegan Bowl and boring Thai Chopped Salad...it's better than having no options though.)
We did have great service throughout the meal and the host staff completed my reservation properly instead of cancelling it like they have the past few times after we've been seated.
Great food and beer selection. Ambient music was very weird and distracting. Overall a fun dining spot with a lot of GF options!
