Brickside Food & Drinks Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I stopped in for dinner on Tuesday night this week. We were greeted very kindly by the staff, and our waiter was solicitous and efficient. We ordered a burger and split it, along with some broccolini, a couple of glasses of wine, and the soup of the day which was tomato with, I think, goat cheese.
The burger was great, the broccolini good, and the tomato soup was forgettable, tasting more like someone had just taken some Cento tomato paste, added a bit of water, maybe some salt and pepper, and thrown some goat cheese on top. The wine selection by the glass was good but not a bargain. There was a promotion on beer, but it was by the pitcher, and an unappealing US mass-market beer, so no interest there. The online Tuesdays promotion was $12 burger and beer, but for some reason we seemed to have missed the point there--the materials they supplied seemed to stress the beer pitcher and not the $12 burger with it. We probably just failed to understand.
We ended up paying something like $60 for a burger, some soup and two glasses of wine. This was greatly overpriced in my view. I think we could have gone to Mortons or the Capital Grile and gotten better food for less. Notwithstanding, it was good, the place had great ambiance, and the wait staff and management were very nice and responsive. It looks like a great place to get together with a friend or two for happy hour, taking advantage of the inexpensive appetizers and drinks.
Have had drinks and dinner at the bar before, which was fine. Four of us went for a table on a recent Saturday night and it was a disaster. Not sure if it was just our server or the kitchen, too. Not super crowded. Seated promptly, waiter took our drink order shortly thereafter, and we then waited 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Probably another 20 minutes before he came back to bring the drinks. Walked way before we could order and didn't come back to take the our food order for another 15-20 minutes. Food then took 30-45 minutes to arrive, and when it did, the flat bread, which usually comes out piping hot, was cold and hard -- must have been sitting for at least 25 minutes. Didn't see out waiter again for another 25 minutes. He brought the desert menus only after we asked for them (another wait) and when we wanted to order, he took one persons order and then walked away without waiting to see, let alone asking, if anyone else wanted anything. Thankfully, we were with good friends we had not seen in a while, so we were able to enjoy ourselves despite what certainly makes the top ten list of worst restaurant service ever.
Brickside Food and Drinks is essentially a great place to see a sporting event with its many TVs, large selection of beers and a menu that is best on bar specialties such as burgers, many flavors of wings and pizzas (or flatbreads). Because its fairly noisy and has a kids menu with hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken its also a good place to come with the family as well.
Service is very good, and they went to some lengths to accommodate us when our original table wasn't working (too close to the door for the kids).
The good was between good and very good. Everyone enjoyed the Old Bay flavored wings. A child's hamburger was a little overcooked (we didn't specify how it should be done, but it's customary to ask how the customer would like a hamburger). A flatbread with jaalpenos, pulled pork and cheese was excellent. Mussels were only adequate though. Hence the recommendation to stick to traditional bar food here.
This is such a fun place. The bar is really fun. Mark and Tyler are great bar tenders and Tyler makes a mean Old Fashioned. The food is also very good. We had two different flatbreads and they were awesome. It's good for dinner and its a great place to watch a game. We watched a Maryland basketball game and it was a fun, friendly crowd. I definitely recommend this place.
Wanted a Bethesda location to meet up with a couple friends for brunch. This neighborhood is adorable and feels very "small town." Love the menu - the blueberry and lemon pancakes looked terrific! I had a benedict with artichoke/chicken sausage and substituted a broiled parmessan tomato for the English muffin. WHAT A GREAT IDEA! It was delicious and helped me stay on my current, low-carb regime. I'm doing this at home now. Didn't love how loud the TVs and music were - cut into our ability to talk. Overall, a great place, and I'll be back.
Brickside never disappoints. Great food, vibrant atmosphere, fantastic service - it has it all. It's a great place for lunch, brunch, or dinner. Biggest TV screen I've ever seen; technically, it's a Buffalo Bills spot, but it is an awesome place to watch any sporting event. It definitely stands out as the place to be in Bethesda!
Just another disappointing Bethesda restaurant.
Where do I start.... the food was marginal at best. The service was "ok" but very slow and our order was wrong when it arrived at the table. Not just a little wrong, but a lot wrong.
No need to ever return to this place.
Decided to have brunch this morning prior to heading to the farmers market. Service was quick and it wasn't overly busy, as they had just opened a few minutes before the reservation. Food was just enough for brunch and the brunch cocktails did not disappoint. Would recommend and come back!
This is not a restaurant - it is a bar. The noise level is NO WHERE near moderate - it was a Wednesday night and it was absolutely impossible to hear any of my friends perched precariously on the high chairs. And then the trivia started - we escaped just in time. I had picked this as a nice neighborhood location to meet up with old friends - I definitely feel I was misled. Not a place I will need to be visiting again.
The staff were very attentive and the food was good. Because it was not too hot, we were able to sit at a table at the open wall and that was very nice, too. This is a noisy sports bar, however, which I did not know before I made the reservation. If that it is the atmosphere you want, then this would be a good choice. If you want to be able to carry on a conversation without other customers screaming in the background, choose another restaurant.
Food and drinks were mostly good. I had the moonshine punch, which was good, but very sweet. The honey glazed shrimp was delicious. The sweet potato fries were probably the best I've ever had. The burger itself was great but the bread was soggy. Would've been amazing if the bread were different or less oil was used.
This is the second time being here for brunch and this time was better than the first, and the first time was a great experience. We were seated by the open air seating and our server was very attentive. We split the chicken and waffle dish because it is a perfectly done quarter chicken. It was a great place to relax for a brunch and we will be going back.
Very nice brunch to go to. Seated at the bar as there was a nice view of the outside with the windows open. Pretty good wine list. Had the chicken sausage which needed a little more seasoning and was just ok. The chicken and waffle however, wow! It is a quarter chicken with a nice waffle. Very crisp, chicken. Totally enjoyed the meal. Will definitely keep this on the list.
I really like the set up of the bar/restaurant. Though it has a sports bar feel it is family friendly during the day and a nice place to watch sports with family and friends. The drinks are delicious, but the food is just okay. I went for brunch and my table ordered pancakes, wings, and a hamburger. The pancakes and hamburger were good, not the best we've ever had, but decent. The wings came out partially cooked and so we sent them back. I was a bit disappointed that they refried the wings that we sent back. I'm not sure that that is appropriate. And when they came back, they weren't very good- fried hard this time, but not flavorful.
The service was excellent! Everyone was very accommodating, pleasant, and attentive.
A group of my girlfriends and I came here for Brunch on a Sunday afternoon on a whim. From the time we walked in the door to the time we exited the atmosphere and staff were exceptional! We had no wait for our table, our waiter Alex was awesome and the food was delicious! We will DEFINITELY be coming back!
Staff was attentive without being overbearing. Restaurant was crowded, but it didn't impact service. And they made me a special, off the menu, cocktail. The on-menu drinks were good, but a little sweet for my taste. So, I asked for a spicy vodka drink & they put something together for me - without charging an arm and a leg!
We enjoyed the food - however, we happened to order to rounds of appetizers and didn't actually order and try any of the main courses. I don't know how that happened...
I would definitely be up for going back again to sample a burger, or try the Happy Hour.
Brickside is an excellent spot to watch a sporting event. It has a good selection of beers and nice takes on bar food, including flat breads and burgers. The entrees are not so great. The service was very attentive. It's a great place to spend a relaxed night out.
On a slow Sunday evening it wasn't too noisy but the service was still slow. I could look over to the bar area where our waitress was talking to another waitress but she never turned her head to see if her tables needed anything. Food was OK, more interesting than your average bar food. Shrimp appetizers were good.
One weird negative were the number of small fruit flies flying around us as we ate - a little disconcerting.
The food was good, but they were out of several items when we got there. The waitress mixed up my drink order, possibly because of the noise level. We like what we got, but had wanted one of the not-available items. The waitress also forgot to bring one of the sides.
