Brick & Bottle is a Michelin guide recommended classic Californian fare restaurant in Madera. While the menu is exceptional, a popular favorite is the prix fixe three-course meal which changes to take advantage of whatever is freshest. There is also a happy hour menu in addition to the dinner menu.
There are a number of notable items on the Brick & Bottle dinner menu. For example, the house ground beef burger is made with a combination of short rib, chuck and brisket for an exceptional flavor. A number of add-ons are available to customize your burger to your liking, such as brie, coleslaw, three types of aioli, fried egg, avocado, blue cheese, goat cheese, caramelized onion and more. The menu at Brick & Bottle also includes wood stone oven gourmet pizza, steaks and many more main entres.
Great bar scene if that's what your into. Food is just average, had the prime rib, which I would rate a C plus. Never saw the waiter, except for taking our order and delivering the check.
Wine by the glass is a rip off, maybe a 3oz. pour in a tiny glass.
Took my wife for a Date night... great food, great service. Noise level made sitting across the table difficult.
The best kids menu! Instead of chicken fingers, they have small portions of the steak and fish with brocolini! My kids love this place.
Our server was extremely rude and more concerned with leaving her shift early than doing her job. Our food arrived earlier than expected but not fully cooked. Instead of apologizing our server decided to have an attitude about asking the steak to not still be pulsating. Would not recommend
My husband and I went here on date night and were disappointed in everything but our waiter who was a rock star.
We started w/ the fried Brussel Sprouts which were cooked perfectly but the aioli was so mealy and bad that it ruined the dish. For dinner my husband got the salmon -lactose free. The kitchen messed up and used butter but our great waiter caught the mistake and stopped the plate before it got to the table. The salmon was ok but not great. I got the small gnocchi appetizer and the cauliflower gratin for dinner. The gnocchi was awesome but the gratin was so overlooked (maybe due to the delay w/ the salmon) that it was mush. I couldn't eat it. I didn't ask but, when I asked the waiter if that was how it was supposed to be he offered to take it off the bill.
Ambiance - it is a nice looking place but thre are multiple tv's. Even though we didn't sit in the bar area there were TV's in my line of site and more reflected in the mirror by our table. CAN'T STAND tv's in restaurants so, even if the food was good, we wouldn't go back.
Menu - VERY heavy. The majority of the items had blue cheese or came with a gratin dish or some other heavy dairy. It was a difficult menu for my husband because of the dairy and difficult for me in watching calories.
First, BETH, the hostess, is always welcoming, helpful and has a smile on her face. We really like her!
Servers, bus people and wait staff are always attentive without smothering and the food is consistent and tasty!
We always enjoy a visit and this restaurant has become one of our "go to" places!
Meat-centric dining, good food, high energy spot. If you are going for quiet conversation, this may not be your spot.
My wife always pushes to try new venues. Me, I’m happy frequenting the same 3-4 places around out house. It takes a special location to get my accolades and guaranteed repeat business.
First, the cocktails - fabulous! Wife had the Apple Old Fashioned; me the black manhattan. Both were wonderfully refreshing. You could drink these all night as long as a taxi is acceptable transport.
The Beet salad was wonderful. Lentils as a base? Out of the box thinking and fantastic!
For our mains, the wife had Petrale Sole and me the salmon. My wife LOVES capers, so this was on the spot for her. Salmon was amazing. The white bean, bacon and kale ragout was perfect.
We didn’t have dessert but they had to be good if scaled to the meal and drinks.
Will we be back? Every chance we can. Stay away please! We don’t want to wait for a table!!!! ;)
Best Prime Rib I ever in a long time. Plus amazing service! Now that I remember those potatoes are a killer.
Another great dinner at Brick & Bottle. Good food and good service -- wish you were open for lunch.
I took 4 out-of-town guests there for dinner on Sunday night, as after a weekend of eating lots of different ethnic foods, they craved some basic American fare. They and I were very impressed with how excellent the food was. One of them ordered the NY Strip Steak, which was cooked to perfection (M-R), about 10-12 oz. char broiled, and served with creamed spinach and scalloped potatoes. Two others had the Marinated Grilled Skirt Steak, with fries and a salad as accompaniments. The fourth guest had the Salmon fillet, while I had the half broiled chicken which came with a plentiful helping of Orzo Mac & Cheese. Everyone was a clean-plater and thoroughly enjoyed each of our orders. My chicken was also cooked perfectly and had a mouth-watering flavor throughout, not just on the crisp outer skin. I would definitely recommend it if someone doesn't want to go the red meat route.
Desserts (Tiramisu and moist Rum Cake with Rum Raisin ice cream) were the perfect closers for this meal, with the latter being raved about by everyone at the table, as we shared these sweets.
The only negative was the slow and sparse service we received. It took our server way too long to come get our orders. Thereafter, he was not a frequent visitor to our table either. I'll be interested to see if the service is better is better on a future visit, since I had always had top-notch service when dining there.
It was a busy Saturday night so perhaps allowances need to be made, but we did need to wait longer than we would have liked for our main courses to appear. I plan to return mid-week and see if the experience is better.
We've been here before and enjoyed it. This time the food was under-seasoned and the presentation bland. It was extremely loud! We won't be returning.
The pesto gnocchi as an appetizer was delicious. I had the Sonoma chicken with Gorgonzola Mac-n-cheese orzo and my partner had the short ribs with broccolini and mashed potatoes. Both were spectacular. We are definitely going back!
Great thin crust pizzas! Unique salads (beets with French lentils). Tasty pesto. Nice wine list. However, be cautious. The waiter might not mention the happy hour menu or give you the happy hour prices unless you specifically request it. (4:30 to 7:00 happy hour is a great deal, though.). With this knowledge in hand, you'll have a very enjoyable experience.
We discovered their wonderful Monday Night Special and always look forward to the Mondays where both have open calendars. The special is a great reward for a busy time and it is a fun and not too serious reward we give ourselves. Worthy! We had excellent service and even the busses acknowledged us and made us feel welcomed.
This restaurant has a great menu, I wanted to order everything. We did order a lot! And were very glad we did. All the appetizers were spectacular. Rush right over while they still have the shrimp and corn risotto. Everything is made in-house. The service was warm and professional. Really a top-notch place. Highly recommended.
There are at least 12 better neighborhood restaurants in Marin, but there is nothing fatally wrong with this one.
Just nothing great either. Main room is too noisy and backroom is too empty leading to inattentiveness of staff.
The food was superb, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and the timeliness of the service.
Always a solid choice! Never had a bad meal here. The service is attentive but not too much. My favorite dish is the ahi tuna starter and I love the shrimp and sweet corn risotto. The pizzas, steak and mac n cheese side are also all good choices. It can be a little loud depending where you're seated. The bar is always crowded too- fun scene.
We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant as the food was excellent. My wife had the burger and she said it was her new favorite. I had the short rib and it was fork tender. The bar was very lively but the noise was blocked by a nice decorative glass wall. We had a very nice experience and dub it our new neighborhood hangout.
After reading the reviews, I was excited to try Brick and Bottle. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The service was a bit slow, which I was prepared for by the reviews, but the food was not up to par. I had the New York strip in peppercorn sauce. The meat was not a good cut, way too much fat. And the sauce was incredibly bland, which is not easy to do with peppercorn sauce. The au graten potatoes were good, but that was about it. My wife didn't care for her dish either. I think she had the salmon. Desserts were nothing special. For the price, about $250 for three, I was not impressed.
Where else can you have happy hour on a Sunday afternoon in Marin? The food is great and they have daily specials.
This restaurant has the complete package with excellent food an outstanding wait staff and a comfortable environment.
This place has everything! Friendly, professional, and attentive staff. Great cocktails, superb wine, wonderful ambiance. Duck Confit and Orzo Mac and Cheese are to die for!
Can't quit talking about the great experience we had. Looking forward to going back.
we made our reservation via open table; were seated promptly, the service & food were excellent; portions are rather large, so great to share. tuna tartare appetizer is amazing
We enjoyed a full, satisfying and affordable happy-hour dinner here. Four of us, each with very different tastes, enjoyed items from the regular and HH menu. Mussels, a burger, pizza, beet salad, and more left us very full and very happy.
I was most pleased that the restaurant followed instructions left in the OpenTable reservation. I asked that a drink be brought out to my father to surprise him for his birthday, which they did perfectly. Thank you, Brick & Bottle!
We found ourselves home on Father's Day and wanted to dine out, but since it was late, worried that an early time would not be available. Brick And Bottle got us in and served perfectly. We had a great supper from their complete menu - even a fun dessert.
I went to Brick & Bottle on a Friday night with my husband, hoping to hang out at the bar for happy hour. When we arrived the bar was beyond packed. So we were so happy that we had a reservation. The food was good (another app entitled us to a free Margarita Pizza). The portion sizes were good, the food was tasty. And my husband who has a very large appetite left satisfied, win, win!
There were four of us and we all agreed that we would definitely be back. Salads, entrees and appetizers were excellent.
Good location and parking, with excellent menu and choices, with reasonable prices. Happy Hour goes until 7PM, with excellent menu choices and prices. Corkage only $15.00, though they have a very good wine list. Fun spot!
The service was great and the food outstanding! It's not your typical bar fare. The Pacific salmon with cauliflower mash and sautéed spinach was fantastic and my foodie husband raved about the steak. Great date night!
We had been traveling and our friend had been house bound with a cold, so we could coax him out with the excellent Monday Night Burger Meal deal. We loved it and we had a great visit too.
This is a great restaurant. Staff is attentive and friendly. The menu has great variety and the food tastes delicious! The happy hour menu is a good one and it runs until 7 pm!
We love Brick & Bottle and go there all the time, so when Mother's Day came, we thought it would be great to go there for brunch. The brunch was decent with nice choices like salmon, chicken and pizzas, but it cost $55 per person and there was NO WAY any of us ate even close to $55 worth of food. Sure, one could get seconds or thirds but we all had one plate of food each and a small dessert. Additionally, they tried charging us an extra $19 for my 14 month old who only had a few bites from my plate - we had to get that removed. While I generally like the food here, I do NOT recommend their set brunch menu specifically because of the price - it's a total rip off.
Nice, cozy place with good comfort food. Not too expensive either.
good salads, we had three different main courses all poor. Duck Confit was bone dry. The steak was greasy and tough
The location is perfect - we live in Novato and it's very convenient. The service is super - friendly knowledgeable hostess and waitress. I love the food, it's delicious - great presentation and really yummy!
Great pizza and salads-the main courses were expertly prepared as well. No corkage on personal wines and half off bottles on Wednesday! Very busy during happy hour so arrive after 7 for a quieter time. Was highly recommended by friends and family and I agree.
