The food was fine but overpriced. Happy hour, though advertised on their website, is only available if you sit at the bar. We were a table of 5 women in the middle of the restaurant at 5:30 when they were not busy. It took us 4 hours to get through the meal because they simply did not attend to us and were short and rude when we ordered. I had to ask for the check twice, and I had to ask someone time take our check after 20 minutes of my card sitting there and waiters walking right past us, and I had to ask for the check back 10 minutes later when it was sitting at the computer directly next to our table. The tables all around us were very well attended to. I don't know if it's because we were 5 women or because we didn't drink, but the service was awful.
Very slow and not overly attentive service. Disappointing as our first visit here last August was terrific which is why we returned
Always a treat. Grilled calamari and warm lentil salad are a must. Friends enjoyed daily special pasta dish. I a,ways stick with their pizza.
Still our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We took my sister who lives in Italy, for dinner and she felt like she was back home. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, we had a great night. I really hope this restaurant hasn't closed.
We enjoyed a delicious meal before going to a concert at Carnegie Hall. Service was excellent and we finished in plenty of time to walk to Carnegie Hall in the rain. We enjoyed the cuttlefish special and the salmon special among other dishes. Our friends had vegetable pizza and vegetable rigatoni which were both good. Bricco is a good value and a very homey kind of restaurant.
We’ve gone here for many years. The service has been variable but generally good enough.
But this time we brought young children with us. They were the last to be served, after we’d already had our main courses and appetizers.
When I asked that their pizza be served as soon as possible, I got a gruff and unpleasant response.
That’s not how to treat customers.
The food is always good. Just the service and demeanor of those in charge needs to improve. It’s not too much to ask.
The table we had was too crowded and noisy. I was constantly jostled by waiters and customers. The food was wonderful.
The food was pretty good, but the service was slow and unfriendly. The waiter seemed to be angry that we asked him for a menu, so we could look at it while drinking our cocktails.
I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. Rude waiters, and our order wasn't given to the kitchen. We had to leave for theater having had only a glass of wine each and a shared salad.
I love this restaurant! The food is delicious, the service is attentive and timely. The waiters give good suggestions. We love the intimate interior and it’s not too noisy so conversation is possible.
Very engaging service staff! Delicious, fresh food.
We enjoyed our pre-theatre dinner. The octopus salad was very good. I enjoyed my pasta with shrimp. My husband enjoyed his linguini with clams. Service was very good. The restaurant did start to get noisy as we were leaving for the theatre. The bar seems to be very popular.
A warm welcome and excellent service, but you will dine better elsewhere. The artichoke starter was 3 previously frozen artichoke hearts warmed in a weak mix of white wine and oil. No taste, odd texture, and sad looking. The fish special also tasted frozen—mushy texture. Pasta with veal ragu tasted nothing like veal ragu, just bland tomato sauce. Even the vanilla ice cream in a dessert was low quality. It’s a pity, since the ambience is nice and the staff is efficient, but the quality of the ingredients and the cooking is simply below the basics of even neighborhood Italian.
This had some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced. The restaurant was not crowded, but it took 20 mins to get a drink and we only got a food menu after finally hailing down a busboy to ask for one. We left after a half hour because it was terrible here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
Perfect pre-theater locale. Very good food even pizza
Good wine list and bar. Service is very relaxed yet friendly.
Excellent salads, entrees, great service. Dessert profiteroles were mushy, else would have gone five stars.
Hadn't been in years. Ambiance was lovely however the food was disappointing to say the least.
Pleasant Italian restaurant. Perfect for dinner before an event at Carnegie Hall, City Center, Studio 54, etc. Very gracious service.
Poor communications skills of staff leads to miscommunication when placing an order. Very disappointed .
pleasant and unhurried
Food was delicious, atmosphere pleasant, prices reasonable. We will return b
We arrived at 6:15 for our reservation. The place was practically empty and there was no maitre d’. We were seated immediately. The waiter was initially very attentive and took our orders. Drinks and salads came out relatively quickly. But at 10 after 7 we had been sitting for over a half hour and no entrees. We told the waiter we were waiting for our entrees and had a show to get to. Another 10 minutes later, no entrees. We again told the waiter who admonished us for not letting him know that we needed to get to theater. We argued and said we cane in plenty if time and 40 minutes was a long wait for food. between courses. The restaurant was still practically empty. He did not apologize for the service but argued further. Our food came-a zucchini rolatini that was good bud not spectacular, and we left. Clearly there was no manager in the house. Would I go back? Too many other choices in the neighborhood.
Wonderful little Italian restaurant with The Beat food. Thank you for the hospitality 🍎
I found Bricco on Open Table and my mom was BLOWN AWAY! Absolutely amazing, 50000000000000000/5 stars INSANE! Authentic Italian food where I sat back and just chewed and enjoyed every single taste in the food.
reliably excellent food, calm atmosphere, don't come here if you favor noise and poor service
A neighborhood favorite and always reliable. A good place if you want to talk and not shout. Lovely atmosphere.
The best thing about this restaurant is that it's quiet. The food was very mediocre, the waiter got our orders confused and the specials (pastas) were overpriced. I will not be going back.
We had terrible service, I could not even tell you what our server looked like because he never came to the table! We had to tell someone else who wasn’t our server our order. My girlfriend ordered a pasta dish and when it came out, there seemed to be a significant amount missing. We asked if it was a half order and he rudely stated that those are the portion sizes. Meanwhile, I had a full plate of pasta with my order. The meal was overpriced for the amount we got. Will never be returning. If you want good Italian with a nice atmosphere, don’t go here!
We were late, coming from a show, and they gracefully let us eat when it was almost close to 10 PM. Salads were good. Fresh. Pizza was also great, with excellent thin crust. A nice find, close to Central Park and Carnegie Hall. Very reasonable for the quality of food.
A good evening for a nice restaurant. We've been here before. Service this evening was very good, food was very good as well. We will be back.
Amazing pizza, best we ever had anywhere. Lovely ambiance, great service but pricey.
Celebrated a friend Birthday. First time at Bricco although It’s in my neighborhood. Great service. Food was about an 8. Good staple in the good. On the expensive side but worth the value.
Excellent waitstaff and food. We had drinks, appetizers, main course and dessert. All were incredible.
A great gathering with friends from Michigan, Virginia and Germany. We walked in and Nino the owner met us and immediately took care of us and we loved the pasta and pizza.
20 minutes late and they found us a table and got us fed and out the door in time for the Opera!
Food, Wine and Service all great!
Dinner at Bricco is simply a delicious experience on every level. From the moment you are welcomed into the charming interior to the final bite of your brilliant handmade pasta or succulent veal chop... you feel like a treasured guest. And do indulge in desert! The poached pears and/ or the grape cake will tease your senses and inspire your next reservation! Enjoy.
Love this place
There were 4 of us and it was the eve of what was to be the stormy snowy/icy night along the east coast. We were able to get into Bricco, and quickly realized it appeared more locals than tourists, which we loved. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The food phenomenal, the house wines were lovely, with the only downsides being the dry table bread and tasteless, dry cheesecake. The waiters were great but we were all wondering - we saw 0 women working in this establishment sadly.
