Bricco Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
If you’re thinking that this is similar to the Bricco in Boston (as we did), you are mistaken. Old and tired looking inside, very little ambience. Service was slow and scattered. One bus boy took mercy on us, but the servers were just grinding out the evening. My husband had a pasta dish that was completely inedible. I had the cannelloni special, which was mediocre. At lease it was hot. The table next to us asked for their dessert three times, and then the waiter gave them a check with a bunch of additional items on it. We were seated close enough to have the scoop. It was the marathon weekend, so we endured the evening, but we won’t be back.
Food was excellent and service was attentive. Nino the proprietor even stopped by the table to make sure everything was to our liking. This was my 1st time here and it was an excellent place for a nice Italian lunch. Would think it is also good at dinner time too.
This place was relaxed by NYC standards which was nice and the food was excellent. We split a salad of lettuce,tomato,avocado and mozzarella with a lite lemon vinegrette dressing. I opted for the puttanesca for a main and it was one of the best I’ve had. Plenty of olives and capers in a hearty tomato sauce. My husband had the special, linguini pescatore,lovely. Finished with a lite tiramisu. A totally satisfactory experience all around thanks to the attentive wait staff which was there without being in your face constantly,making conversation possible and pleasant.
The entree was quit good or I would have given it a lower rating considering the the rest of the meal. Overall, I found this restaurant mediocre. Our wait person was not talkative or friendly. Pretty much just came to the table told us the specials, took our order, and occasionally looked over from afar to see if we needed anything. Plenty of much better Italian Restaurants in NYC.
We enjoyed the cozy and quiet atmosphere. The service was very attentive. We both enjoyed our homemade pasta dishes and shared salad. The only disappointment of the evening was the stale chocolate torte. If we skipped dessert and ended with the coffee we would have been happier. But all in all I would recommend it.
Never... ever, under any circumstances will I return or recommend....3 different waiters, none of which knew what we ordered, bread hard as a rock stale, ordered the special veal chop w/ porchini... ended up with a tough as nails, only can described as "beef" not veal... just old cow, cooked well done, and straight up button mushrooms....oh did I mention, broccoli and mashed potatoes, nothing says Italian like mashed potatoes and broccoli. My wife's..Fusilli Ragu...overcooked pasta, and yes ragu... not like mama makes, straight out of the jar...... Never ever EVER.
Bricco is a favorite local haunt for friends, so we were delighted to check it out on a Saturday night -- 6 p.m. reservation, knowing we had an 8 p.m. show at the nearby Gershwin.
The restaurant did not disappoint. The food was fresh and exceptional -- particularly the chicken paillard. We skipped salads in favor of dessert, and those were quite good. (Tiramisu and lemon ricotta cheesecake.) Cappuccino was hot and delish and yay, they don't put cinnamon on top.
Prices were reasonable. The only less-than-stellar area was service, as our primary server was not particularly attentive. We had to ask someone else to find him for our dessert order, then we had to hunt him down for our check. Good thing the theater was so close.
We will definitely go back and totally understand why our friends rave about it. The ambience is lovely, the restrooms clean and again, the food is dynamite.
I was pleasantly surprised. Took the grandkids to see Wicked on matinee day. Thought they might go for the pizza but they explored into the full menu. They all went through the pastas and my grandson couldn't stop talking about his pork chop (even during the play), which I can attest to, was outstanding. I rated the restaurant "quiet" which probably worked against us as an "adult" man having lunch with his Mommy complained to me right as we were getting the check that my kids were making too much noise. He was right!, but still rate him a 5 as a jerk.
Bricco may not be kid friendly as the menu included no go to items for them to choose from.
Bricco is always a dependable choice near both the theatre district and Lincoln Center.
It is that charming,intimate Italian restaurant that everyone tries to find. The menu
is quite traditional, but all dishes are well prepared. There were very good specials of
the day, and the wine list offers many well priced choices. We dine here often in an
area where it's difficult to fine moderately priced restaurants before or after Lincoln
Extremely disappointing especially in light of all the good reviews posted on Open Table. Service was very slow and when we questioned where our appetizers were the waiter said "we have a 2 big parties tonight so it will be a wait". How is that our problem? They accepted our reservation! When we did get our food my husband's eggplant "special" was cold in the middle, my pasta "special" came out wrong and I had to send it back only to get a rubbery undercooked lobster and chewy calamari. The easiest pasta dish came out after most of us were done with our food. The waiter offered us a free bottle of wine but truly that did not compensate for an aggravating dinner that was suppose to be a nice relaxing evening. Perhaps it was an off night but we will never go back to find out.
We've been going to Bricco's for years, and we frequently order the glazed salmon. it is the best salmon around, bar none, in my view.
But this week, when I ate there twice, I swear the salmon was beyond even its usual excellence. Perhaps it was cooked a bit more, so the glaze was a bit more caramelized, but the meals were outstanding.
