Briar Rose Chophouse & Saloon Ratings and Reviews
Food was wonderful. All 4 of us got the petite Filet. They were all cooked as requested. We were served Rosemary Bread, which was great. We ordered the brussel sprouts, Mac & cheese and the Parmesan Fries. All were excellent. We topped it off with the cheesecake. We will definitely go back. The service was great.
Service was outstanding. One person ordered the prime rib and it had to be sent back as it was tough and flavorless. The restaurant staff were very accommodating and a filet was quickly cooked to order and was fantastic. The USA choice ribeye was fatty but flavorful. The lamb was very good. A free desert was also offered for the inconvenience. I would definitely give this restaurant another try.
The restaurant had a large party inside that got rowdy, constantly up and down and extreme loud trying to yell across the tables. Very unpleasant to sit through and not be distracted by their antics. Had a "prime" 16oz New York strip that had way more fat and gristle than it should have had. Salads were good, as were the mashed potatoes and asparagus. Wife had a filet that she liked. Restaurant offered a free desert, but $150 for dinner with tip was definitely not worth the $ this time.
We visit Briar Rose every time we come to Breck (7 times now). It always offers great food in a nice atmosphere. The only reason I rated the food a 4 star this time was because two of our medium rare dishes came out as rare. They fixed them right away with no hassle. This was the only time our food wasn't quite perfect. Overall...we love this place and will be back again.
My husband and I are locals to the area and try to get to Briar Rose for a more romantic date night when we feel like having a fancier dinner without the kids.
We had recommended it to a friend couple for one of our many "couples date night" outings and made a reservation for Saturday at 5PM. That evening, there were special events going on in the area that we were unaware of, so traffic was horrific (we were coming from Silverthorne). It usually takes us 25 minutes to get there, but on this particular evening it took us over 90 minutes. We ended up being over an hour late to our reservation.
I called and spoke with the manager, whom understandably said he couldn't promise to save our table. However, he did state that if it didn't work out, he'd make sure to save us a seat in the saloon.
They found us a nice booth in the saloon, so it didn't feel like we were really in the bar area, but more "in the middle" of romantic and bar-type scene. It was perfect and well over what we expected to get for being an hour late. This isn't the first of incidences we've had at the Briar Rose. 1 or 2 on us, and 1 or 2 minor things on them, but absolutely everytime something goes wrong, they make sure to overcompensate on their part and we're always pleased with the outcome.
Things happen, and the Briar Rose is one of the most popular restaurants in the area, so they are always busy - however, the staff and managers are always extremely professional and go out of their way to make their customer satisfied. For this reason, as well as many others (mainly the AMAZING and high quality food) we will always be a customer of theirs. I've worked in the restaurant industry before (for many years), so I notice little things that most people don't at restaurants, and I must say, I've always been very impressed with the way they run this business. My all time favorite place to eat in the county and a must try for anyone visiting!
We had a group of 10. The food was outstanding and our server, Carrie Ann, was great. She handled all the challenges a large group with stride and we appreciate her patience. The Tomahawk steak was unbievably delicious... and huge! Had a great time and will definitely go back.
We'd been to the Briar Rose before, but hadn't been in the last three years or so (we don't live in Breckenridge). They are still doing a great job. We both had filets, and Will, our waiter, worked with me to make sure they got the degree of doneness for my steak just right - and it WAS just right. The menu has a number of "different" items (like elk chops), and a fine selection of the more conventional. The dining room is somewhat small, which can make it quite loud, but it is charming, nonetheless, in its overall ambience. We had, in addition to the filets, escargot, a gratin of root vegetables, and the olive oil cake. All exceeded expectations. As mentioned, Will did a superb job of making sure we got exactly what we wanted. Highly recommended.
The most amazing meal we had all week in Breck. Food, drinks and service were incredible. We ordered 2 apps, split a salad, 2 entrees, and dessert. Steaks were the best we’ve ever had hands down. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Well worth the price. We will be back for sure!
We both ordered seafood. Me: Sole with risotto. She: Mountain trout. Simply fantastic! Fair prices on wine, delicious gluten free chocolate dessert... and, if they are serving the root vegetable side with cream and cheese (parsnips, etc.); get it... You will be glad you did. One of our best meals overall ever.
