Briar Rose Chophouse & Saloon
Best food in breck
We have been coming here on our last day in Breck for many years- sadly this year was no where the high level as in the past. My steak was completely underdone-they recognized it and took it back to the kitchen. They then tried to give me a completely burned steak- clearly it was a steak someone else had sent back. Only at this point was a new steak offered. I had to wait an additional 9 minutes- my family was finished with their meals when I finally got my order.
I was disappointed
The steak was excellent but the grilled asparagus was inedible. It was undercooked, under seasoned, and poorly prepped with large stalls including the woody bases.
Amazing food at a reasonable price! While not a very large place, but that only added to the cozy ambience. I had the Elk and Onion soup which was awesome! Their family style sides added to the fun! What a great dinner out.
First class the whole way. Welcoming and friendly staff. Excellent meal presentation.
The food is overpriced and underwhelming. We paid $120 for a meal that wasn't worth $40. I expect to be impressed when paying $50 per plate. The Briar Rose fell short in value, taste, and overall. I don't recommend it.
The service level on this visit was over the top fantastic. We especially appreciated the wine guidance we received from sommelier Amy. She made us feel very comfortable with our choices and she really knew her stuff. The whole staff was fantastic.
Amazing experience. Best customer service you will find around.
Leadership is going the right things here. Good to see everyone caring about their jobs.
Pricey, a little noisy, cold potato, however, food was good overall.
My family of five made reservations and they had our table waiting. Very relaxing atmosphere and the meal was delicious. We started with cocktails and ended with coffee and dessert. One of my sons had the buffalo ribeye and another had the buffalo short ribs. Both of them enjoyed their choices. The salted caramel carrot cake was amazing and the key lime pie was very creamy and refreshing. We were treated warmly from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. We will definitely will return.
Service, cocktails and steaks were fabulous.
We dine at this restaurant every year for the past 6 years or longer. This visit was very disappointing. One of us dining ordered a ribeye medium rare. They tried to send it out 3 different times first medium then pretty raw and then medium again. Everyone else was finished with their meal so we took it to go but not prepared the way it was ordered. We were not offered any compensation for the poorly cooked steak and really seemed as if they were not concerned. Will probably not dine here again which is very sad but did not feel like we were treated fairly
The place was freezing
Our server was very good and some of the side items and desserts were very good, but we went there for a good steak and did not receive that. The two rib-eyes that we received were very unimpressive and did not have a good flavor. One of the double filet we received was very tough and difficult to cut. One of the petite filet we received looked like the end piece of the meat and was fatty and not good at all. The shrimp appetizer tasted as it had been frozen. We splurged and took our family of seven to what we thought would be a wonderful dining experience with excellent food. We were wrong. The food was overall fair and for the amount we paid it should have been much better.
Love Briar Rose, always great food and ambiance, and the bison and lamb are outstanding.
Apps, steak and sides were all terrific. Crème Bruelle was amazing. Waitress was great as well.
I think this is the best restaurant in Breckenridge. Food and service are top notch. Our reservations have always been promptly honored.
New Year’s Eve
One of our favorite restaurants in Breck. Great ambiance. Superb menu. A must visit.
(Just make sure they don't throw out the lobster tail you were going to take home - that's a poke to the manager who handled that sad situation very well!)
Good for special occasions, dates and everything else!
Amazing service and food. A must when visiting Breckenridge.
Great little spot. Food was incredible! Staff was friendly... Had the trio sausage bacon wrapped scallops double center cut with bernaise. Desert probably one of tbe best créame brûlée I have had! Little pricey but definitely worth the visit! 110% would recommend
As always, the dining experience was 5 stars from the food to the service.
I have been here several years ago, and came back this day after Christmas with my wife and son while skiing over the break. Food surpassed all of our expectations. Wonderful filets for the family, and I loved my rib eye. The char on all of our steaks was super tasty and the meat was divine. Great service from Diane made us comfortable and led us to the delightful mac and cheese side. Very yummy! Wine list was broad, and offered some quite reasonable bottles at fair prices, a welcome change from the big markups one is exposed to 99 times out of 100. Big thumbs up for Briar Rose!!
The food was over priced & low quality. I ordered the Wagu steak and it was burnt. You know it’s a bad experience when a steakhouse messed up a steak. Caveat Emptor
The food and service were great. We started in the bar area while we waited for our table and the bartender was helpful choosing a wine. The dining experience was good and our allergy concerns were handled efficiently. The establishment has a self-hanging coat check which was convenient compared to fussing with jackets over the backs of chairs in the tight seating area.
Steaks were tough and flavorless. We’ve eaten here previously and it was great. Very disappointed this time.
Lovely atmosphere, great food. My only criticism would be the gentleman who kept coming around to fill our waters would reach across the table to fill a glass and interrupt any conversation. He should have walked around the table to get to the water glass without reaching. Also, my medium steak was closer to medium well.
A wonderful restaurant In Breckenridge! Everything was cooked to perfection and the Prime Rib, Filet & Bone-In Ribeye we’re wonderful. The sides were great as well. Our server Elke was unmatched in her attentiveness and I would highly recommend. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Breck.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Will return when in Breckenridge.
We always eat at the Briar Rose on our last night in Breck, can’t wait to get back.
We’ve eaten here over Christmas holiday each of the last 5 years. The service is excellent, friendly and attentive. The food is good traditional fare. The small Victorian dining room is a charm. Prices are high, but appropriately so.
Family trip. First night first time in Breckenridge! Dinner at the BriarRose was the perfect way to start our Christmas vacation ...love the atmosphere, the rich old woodwork and detail you don’t see in newer buildings. Greeted, seated and met our server in a timely manner with friendly demeanors. Our waiter, Ben, was attentive but not hovering. When the water glasses got low someone was right there. Support staff exceptional as well. So appreciate excellent service... and then there’s the food. There were four of us, two got the elk medallions, one trout and I got the chefs special bison ribeye in a redwine demiglaze I believe...it was charred on the outside and perfect medium rare on the inside...simply could not have been better!!! Everyone loved their choices...We all tried the bottomless fries which had a unique delightful twist cut thin n crispy. No room for dessert but yummy coffee...The only sad thing was that they are booked for the rest of our trip so we can’t go back this vacay...Thankyou all so much!!
The service was excellent! The prime rib was cooked perfectly but lacking a little on flavor. The ribeye was cooked perfect medium on the inside but the outside was a little charred. The Brussel sprouts are highly recommended and the wedge salad was one of the best I have ever eaten!
Awesome Dinner and Awesome Wait Staff!
Best place for steak and seafood in Breckenridge! We always get great service
Holiday meal with my wife. We always eat here on every visit to Breck. We love it. Ben and Amy are exceptional in taking care of us.
Most of the food was very good - Elk, kobe beef, sides, desserts but the prime rib and ribeye were terrible. Very surprising since there’s a professional and welcoming air to the restaurant. The ribeye was even cold. Guess we should have said something at the time.
Great service. Food very good. Especially loved the brussel sprouts with chorizo. The wedge salad was good too. Our steaks were very good and cooked to requested level of doneness. Service was also very friendly. We had a great dinner after a great day of skiing.
