Good banana foster
19 year old daughter’s first time in New Orleans
Brennan's offers a classic fine dining experience in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. We went for brunch when they opened at 9. Reservations are a must, even in the middle of the week off peak season. The atmosphere was a true throwback to 1920's - 1940's New Orleans. There was patio seating available in a beautiful courtyard surrounded by lush foliage, but we were seated in an equally gorgeous dining room. The space was brightly lit with morning sunlight from the patio and Mardi Gras murals adorning the walls in pastel pink and mint green. We enjoyed happy hour priced sparkling wine cocktails and classic selections from the area, such as Sazerac and brandy punch. Our excellent server was polite, informed, and provided great advice on the menu. The house presented a complimentary amuse bouche of duck boudin balls which were savory and delectable. Next came an appetizer of baked oysters, in the recommendation of our server. This was my first taste of baked Gulf oysters and they were one of the highlights of our meal. Our main plates were eggs Sardou and a variation of eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon. Both meals were incredible, but don't expect a light brunch. We did not have room for dessert, but we did see a table side preparation of bananas Foster, which left us wanting to come back solely for that dish. Our server kindly ended our meal with complimentary bubbly for our anniversary. From the moment we walked in to our last steps out the door, Brennan's provided one of the best dining experiences we've ever had.
Wonderful! Server was very knowledgeable about Brennan’s history and what we were celebrating. Even the hostess at the door greeted me by my name and congratulated me.
Brennan’s is supposed to be one of the iconic restaurants in New Orleans. We managed a reservation and we’re excited to dine there.
The place is really nice, old school, wait staff in special uniforms, white tablecloths etc.
We started with round of drinks- unfortunately they came back to inform us that they didn’t have the ingredients for one of their signature cocktails.
Switch to beer
We ordered the first course
Unfortunately, the one we all wanted was sold out
Switch to baked oysters and something that sounded awesome in the description but wasn’t so much when it arrived. Sent that back and got a salad.
2 of us ordered the blackened redfish- signature dish
1 ordered the steak the other ordered swordfish
The redfish was tiny, had a hint of fishy taste (not good) and was just bland
The steak looked bland
The swordfish was reported to be ok…
We went with desserts and since only 2 / 3 were available- we got the other 2…
They were ok but wierd.
The best dish of the evening was the 2019 Belle Glos Pinot…
The total bill? $385 plus tip.
Not for the faint of wallet
Honestly, it was really sad. It’s clear the place is struggling and living on its history.
As a comparison the next night we went to Pêche. OMG! one of the best meals ever and it was less expensive. Not by much but it was amazing
My hint- skip Brennan’s- now I know.
Just a massive disappointment.
There was a gentleman named John. I think he was the manager. I appreciated his engagement with us. Q, the waiter was professional but not as welcoming or accommodating as John.
The food and the service was outstanding! John is one of the best servers we've ever had and he communicated the menu flawlessly! We will definitely be back and request John!!
Sunday brunch at Brennan’s - so iconic. I made the reservations months ago, as soon as we booked our trip. Was it a great meal? Yes! Did our food arrive after the next table (seated after us) finished? Yes. Did I overhear other charismatic waiters explain the meals better than our waiter? Also yes. Would I go back again? Absolutely! It was still amazing.
Service wasn’t the best, not attentive and wasn’t the level of service I usually receive at a higher end restaurant. The restaurant was incredibly loud and I had a headache when I left. The bananas foster was amazing.
I’ve been coming to Brennan’s for thirty years. I was so completely disappointed with both the food and service this time. I brought a guest who had never experienced Brennan’s and I was so embarrassed. We sat without water or a waiter for 15 minutes and without drinks for 25 minutes- they got our food order wrong and for the first time ever, the welcome and the service seemed ungracious and uncaring. It’s one of my favorite places in the world and I hope they get the staff in shape and trained up to Brennan’s standards. I’m rooting for you Brennan’s. New Orleans needs you to come back strong.
A wonderful birthday brunch for a friend. The wait staff was excellent. Our waiter made wonderful suggestions for our food. Everything went very well.
Brennan’s is an experience every food lover should enjoy. The waiter was incredible in his presentation.
We celebrated our 38th anniversary with brunch at Brennan’s! From the greeting at the door until the Thank You, come back soon, the experience was exactly what you’d expect from Brennan’s! Impeccable service, attentive staff, and outstanding food!! My wife just asked about their cotton candy birthday treat that she saw on another table, and bam! One appeared for her! The whole experience was 5 star!
One of many visits over the last 50 years. The menu has been downsized since the pandemic which is a small downer. Miss the fixed price breakfast option but at least a al carte means I won't over stuff myself. Staff and service great as has always been the experience. Even though not on the menu, the staff knows the past history items and normally is able to provide these favorites.
What a simply gracious smart place! Kudos
First time dining at Brennans, Went for my wife’s birthday at brunch. Excellent menu, I had trouble deciding because everything looked great! My wife had the Eggs Hussard, I went for the Croque Madame. They were both fantastic. Got sides of grits and creamed spinach. Maybe the best grits Ive ever eaten. Service was excellent. Friendly staff.
Everything was amazing. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was amazing. If you’re not sure about turtle soup- order it anyway! It was not what I expected and I’m already craving it again. The Caesar salad was unreal- it seems simple but it’s a must have. We ordered 2 different fish entrees and were blown away. We will definitely come back.
The food and cocktails were fabulous but a bit pricey. Our waitress was so good and attentive. Definitely worth a visit to this historic institution
Amazing experience. Turtle soup and Banan’s Foster were superb
Food was good but not great. The bananas foster was very good and expertly prepared table side
Circular table in quiet room with family + friends.
Staff very polite and helpful.
Food is excellent and terrific wine selection.
Exceeded our expectations! An absolute must NOLA experience.
Absolutely fantastic serving staff. Food very tasty.
We came to New Orleans for our 40th wedding anniversary last Thursday. It was so magnificent. We had originally picked out a bottle of Tokaji as it has special memories for us. Our son got the bottle as a gift for us. The sommelier checked in with us and showed us what our son picked out. They brought out a glass of sparkling wine at start of our dinner. Our server was attentive, checked on my allergies and helped me choose. The Shrimp Quenelles was tasty and my Scallops Veronique was amazing. The bananas foster was the highlight as we had never had a dessert set ablaze before. Great show and delicious too. Make sure you get a reservation!
Brennan’s was fantastic! The whole beginning to end was fantastic. Highly recommend to anyone coming to NOLA!
Our lunch was delicious, the service professional and engaging and the overall experience was a pure delight
Food was great as were the drinks. Irish coffee came out tepid
Our server Chalaine was excellent! She really added to our experience!
Quality was excellent . Service excellent. Food is a little over price, we must paying for the name Brennan. We’ll be back

Our breakfast was as good as it can get
Dressed up and had mimosa during the meal and of course Banana Fosters for desert
Phenomenal to say the least
Our waiter John was truly gifted and very professional, attentive, gracious and overall perfect.
The food was really really excellent
