Breakwater Restaurant & Bar - Beaufort Ratings and Reviews
Lisa's service was outstanding. Atmosphere is pleasant and restful. More menu options would be nice, we all enjoyed the meals chosen. I thought the scallops/risotto could have been more flavorful. The pork belly was extraordinary. The Bourbon ice cream was a nice finish.
This was our first time dining at Breakwater. It had been recommended by someone who lives in Beaufort. I had the blackened Mahi and to be honest, seemed a bit bland and not to my liking. My family enjoyed their entrees to a degree but weren't bowled over either. But the atmosphere was festive and our waitress was first rate. As I looked around people seemed to be enjoying themselves. I came away with the feeling that this could be a favorite with the locals and I would certainly be willing to give it another chance next time I'm in town.
With so many delicious sounding options on the menu it was hard to choose what to order, but the variety of small plates made it easy to pick 2 options to try Instead of having to narrow it down to one. Everyone in our party of 6 raved about their food. The service was excellent, and it had a great atmosphere. There was a big variety of price options, but some of them where a little pricey, which is to be expected of a restaurant of this quality. We have a new favorite restaurant in Beaufort and this is it!
Breakwater Restaurant continually gives us an excellent dining experience with ourselves or with friends. We consider the food taste the best in town. Even our Savannah daughter and son-in-law compare it favorably with the best restaurants in Savannah and they love to come to Beaufort and dine with us.
We were celebrating our anniversary and we had a great meal! Great service and very attentive by the owner as well as the staff. Food was delicious and so perfectly seasoned! The bar area was so lively that the noise level was noticeable but not overwhelming. Hey if the place is popular they must be doing something right!
Attractive place with well separated bar and eating area. Good food with generous portions and attentive service. Noise level too high for romantic dining but you didn't have to holler to be heard. Overall a reasonable value, although the wines seemed a bit steep.
We had wonderful service and excellent food. The salad dressing on the spring salad was so good (unusual but great combination of spicy and sweet)-- i asked for the recipe and the chef complied. I loved the option of smalll or large plates. Scallops with risotto had perfectly prepared scallops with flavorful mushroom risotto.
This was the opening meal together of the Writing Weekend and Retreat with a noted poet-novelist and several visitors from other states. Everyone in our party of 8 was pleased with their choice of starters, small plates, or full dinner, with one exception which was quickly and amicably resolved. I would recommend this for anyone visiting Beaufort, SC (they also have a Greenville location). The food was great, the ambiance just perfect for us meeting and conducting some business, and getting ready for a weekend of inspired work.
Nice place within walking distance of most places you would want to stay in Beaufort. Tables were not crowded together but acoustics unfortunately engaged you in everyone's conversations around you. Server was very attentive, food was presented very well and was very tasty. Will go back next time in Beaufort. Actually stopped by bar for a night cap on the way home from a different spot!
My boyfriend and I choose this restaurant often for date night. The food is always great and never disappoints. I also love that they try to shop local for ingredients when possible. Although the food may be pricey, I have never walked out feeling that the meal wasn't worth every penny.
