Breakfast is great here but dinner was not as great!
We are happy to see the outside patio has been remodeled but the inside courtyard really needs new furniture and a remodel. Those metal chairs are still so noisy and the chair pads are completely worn out.
They ran out of the daily special, the pork chops, by 6:30 pm, and didn’t tell the waiter. They knew it was my birthday but do anything special. Service was a bit inattentive.
After living in DFW for 14 years, my wife and I finally decided to have dinner at Bread Winners. For years we have been wanting to go but never have until this year we decided to celebrate Valentine's day early.
We loved the ambiance and the old world charm of the building. It has a mix of New Orleans meets Boston feel to it. Our server Brad was very knowledgeable regarding the menu options.
My wife had the chicken and waffles, which she enjoyed! And so did I :). I had the ribeye with asparagus. Although the ribeye was flavorful as you would expect, it was the thinnest ribeye that I have ever seen! Apparently, they cut a normal steak in half! Definitely not what I expected for $26 but again, it still had good flavor. I also had the Pear and Cardamom mule! It was nice and smooth!
We finished the night off with the chocolate seduction cake for dessert.
First time I had been to this location. I went with friends for dinner on a Sunday evening. Service was great, we loved the courtyard area, and the food was amazing. Come Sunday evening as you get a free dessert with entree, it’s a great value!
Loved the food and always recommend this place to others.
I never miss an opportunity to eat at the original Breadwinners in Dallas. The food is always great, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. If you need a place to meet with friends or just want a great spot for date night, you cannot go wrong with Breadwinners.
Loved our dinner at Bread Winners Cafe'. Everything was great, from the bread basket to the dessert (though the spicy sauce drizzled around the shrimp and cheddar grits is not for the faint-hearted, and did slightly overpower the delicate seafood). The best part, however, is definitely dessert. We tried two of their cakes - the birthday cake, and the peanut butter cup cheesecake. Huge portions match the huge, sweet flavours. A bold, proud restaurant worth visiting.
Our experience tonight at the restaurant was most pleasant and enjoyable. The entire staff went above and beyond with their overall friendliness, presentation, and accommodating service. My mom had a wonderful birthday & our guests loved the extremely secluded and intimate dining experience. Thank you Bread Winners Uptown & Thank you so much to our exceptional server Mr. Arturo! Everything was perfect.
I took my family to celebrate my sons 19th birthday here. They all loved it! Neat little tucked away spot with vintage flare. Reminded me of New Orleans with exposed brick, old hardwood floors and bistro sets on the layered patio. My teenagers absolutely loved the chicken and waffles! We will definitely visit again and again!
Visited with a business group for dinner on Saturday night 7/2017. Place was not clean and very, very noisy. Our group could barely hear each other to have a conversation. Restaurant did not handle large groups well, tables were pieced together, food came out like three different orders and we had to wait 10 minutes for last order and not enough staff. Food was average. Very disappointing. Use to love the place.
Wait staff was friendly and order was correct. The food was lacking.
The ladies chose this place because it was the place where my husband boss purchased a cake that was served at our wedding and then again on my birthday since I didn't get to really tasted it on my wedding day. We were welcomed with awesome customer service and the ambiance was great. Our waitress was very attentive as well as the rest of the staff. This restaurant provided us with awesome picture taking opportunities with the different locations within the restaurant itself...we went snap snap crazy! I had the blackened redfish which was awesome. The food was great and I would definitely recommend my friends and family visit.
Arturo was a fabulous waiter---very attentive and responsive.
The food was amazing. My mother and grandmother really enjoyed the food as well..Thank you
Ate on the patio and the food was all very good. Only issue was our waiter was not super attentive, twice brought us cold coffee after our meal, and had to ask for it to be taken back and have fresh made.
Family dinner celebrating going away and upcoming birthdays. This app made it super easy
Good food. Reasonable prices. Sunday free dessert with entrees!
Always a great experience.
Our experience was absolutely amazing! Enrique, our waiter handled our large party very well. The food was fresh and fabulous
Went to the one in uptown, a day later my husband goes back to the one in Plano which he mentioned was less crowded. Love the service and turkey meatloaf entree!!! Pork sliders were great too! If you go on a Sunday after 5, you get a free dessert. The desserts looked extremely appetizing and are cheap. I got a huge cinnamon roll and on a later day a coconut pineapple cake which is not my favorite. With purchase of an entree, they give you a bready treat. Not disappointed about my experience one bit.
The host didn't say hi, hello, how are you folks, or anything. He just gave a blank stare and finally asked how many. This put us on the wrong foot. The servers were great. The food is nothing like it used to be. Does everything have to be drenched in siracha? The pastries are still great. But I was sad that this gem was not hopping like it used to. If you greet everyone the way we were greeted, I understand why people stay away.
Had dinner with 2 friends at Breadwinners on McKinney Avenue in Uptown and got to sit outside and enjoy gorgeous, cool, comfortable weather. It was great. Service was good, and there was great variety in the menu. The sweet potato fries were delicious, along with the grilled asparagus. We enjoyed our time there and loved sitting outside on the patio before the heat of summer sets in.
Not impressed. Location was very difficult to get to. Waiter was terrible. He was never around. Had to ask several other people for help. Food was okay. Not recommended. Maybe good for locals to walk to.
Nice location. Good service. Weak drink. I ordered a turkey burger. It was pretty bad. The bread was soggy. Meat tough. Dressings...well. .. Not good.
Breadwinners is a great place to eat! Unique atmosphere and excellent food. You will not be disappointed.
Good service and food.
The food was excellent, too bad that the service was extremely lacking. Unfortunately our server did not have any idea how to do his job and missed our orders correctly, delivery of our food, and even tried to tell us the chef would be mad if he did not deliver our food when he did. Too bad for us the delivery of the food was still when we were midway through our appetizers.
I made dinner reservations for a small group of OOT guests on a weekday, knowing how impossible it is to get a table on the weekends. Fortunately, it wasn't crowded, however, after being seated and greated by our server, I had to track him down just to get our cocktail orders. Our Martini's were served in cocktail glasses because the Martini glases were still being cleaned...really? , at 6:30 pm?? Lots of interesting food options and the meat and cheeze board was a great start. All entrees seemed reasonable and ours turned out very good. Except for the lack of good service on arrival, we were satisfied customers. Very casual dining experience.
Went to Bread Winners for dinner on date night with husband. It was our first time. Service was great. Food was okay. It was a bit too gourmet-ish. Coffee and dessert were the best parts of the meal. The building is pretty. We are in the entry way do we enjoyed being inside but having a slight breeze from outside.
It was a very nice experience with good food and wonderful atmosphere, particularly aided by our friendly server.
our server was horrible. he was new and kept dropping things. our food orders were wrong because he didn't know the menu. we will never go back for dinner there.
Went here on a date and the noise level was perfect to be able to talk to each other. No loud music playing. We ate inside, although they also have an outside patio. Our server, Tyler, was friendly and quick with drinks and food. It was tasty and the menu has some more unique options to choose from. Worth a try!
So good! The service and food are always great!
This place is great! Food is awesome. Service friendly and efficient.
Great location, friendly staff, and great menu.
We needed to make a reservation (last minute) for a table of 9 for a Saturday night. That's hard to do. Breadwinners could accommodate us. We were seated in a private room with a large round table, perfect! Everyone ordered a different dish and we were able to visit and have a wonderful time with family from Chicago. The food was great and who could resist the desserts when walking out the door. What a great night.
So good! Breadwinners is always a go to favorite spot
My overall experience was great. Only problem we had was the food was a little cooled down, not cold, but not hot out the kitchen. We watched our food sit on the counter underneath a heat lamp for about 10 minutes before coming to us. Other than that, the service was good. Oh and the dessert was sloppy looking. The cheesecake was a little melted and warm.
We made reservations for 8 people on NYE and it exceeded my expectations. We were seated at a round table in a private room and it felt very cozy. Our service was very good and the food was outstanding. Bread Winners is not just a brunch place, I would go back for dinner anytime.
The first time we came we had the portobello mushroom enchiladas and I like that a lot and the second time we came we ordered the Bacon wrapped pork and it was just superb.
