Brazil Brazil Ratings and Reviews
Brazil Brazil is a definite recommend for authentic Brazilian dishes. The waitress recommended several dishes and none disappointed. There was more than enough food on our plates. They got us in and out in plenty of time for our 7pm play. Had a great time!!!
This was a last minute find as we were on the way to a show and we were so lucky to come across it! Service was amazing and all we proud of their culture. They were happy to teach us about traditional dishes and the proper way to eat them. Everything was so delicious. They have a HUGE menu but I highly recommend you get the Feijoada. Just wow!
We visited Brazil Brazil for pre-theatre dinner. The setting was very nice, and the wait/host staff very personable. Unfortunately, we had a few mishaps. On the first round of drinks, my Caipirinha was just watermelon juice (I didn't realize that until the second one came- I don't drink much and it tasted so good; it went down easily...) . We ordered two appetizers to share among 3 ladies. This was fine. We each ordered our own entrée, having taken recommendations from the wait staff. Unfortunately, when our entrees arrived, one was missing. We were thereafter told that because we had ordered two appetizers, the server mistakenly omitted the third entrée from our meal order. There were sincere apologies, and the owner?/hostess offered a complementary drink for the inconvenience (two of us were almost finished eating when the third dish arrived). We gave our drink order to the server. When our bill was received, we were charged 2/3 of the second round of drinks (at $16 ea). We disputed, understanding that we had been offered a second round in compensation for the omitted order/inconvenience. We were told that the comp was only for the drink of the person whose dinner order was not entered. My sister, who paid the bill, entirely omitted gratuity, deciding that the extra $32 that went toward drinks we wouldn't have ordered (had they not been offered as compensation for the mishap) should be applied as the tip for the server (who aside from missing the third entrée did a nice job). The food was really excellent, but in the theater district on a Saturday evening, there should have been a more generous "apology" than just one glass of sangria. Too bad, would have loved to go back another time.
The food at Brazil Brazil is really delicious. My first visit was a good experience. However, on this second visit, I had a bad experience with a waiter who was rude to me. I spoke to the assistant manager the next day, who apologized and promised to compensate me. It's been several days and I haven't heard from them yet. I would definitely order out from this restaurant, but at this point, I don't think I would eat in there.
We found it on Tripadvisor and it was the second best meal we had whilst in NY second only to Benihana but better than higher ranked and more expensive restaurants in the Tripadvisor listings.
The food was better than the bland description (chicken in brown sauce) turned out to be malsala sauce. Give it a try and do have the Brazilian beer.
Brazil Brazil was incredible. This was our young (7 & 8) grandsons first trip to NYC and we were just looking for a restaurant with good reviews that wasn't too formal and would have something they would eat. There simply aren't many kid friendly restaurants in Manhattan. Not only did Brazil Brazil have food items for them they actually had a children's menu and it had more than chicken fingers and hamburgers on it. The food options for the adults included many traditional Brazilian meals. We all ordered something different and every meal was exceptional right down to the desserts. The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful with selecting meals and explaining the more traditional items. We all can't wait to go back. This would be my top recommendation for anyone traveling to NYC with children that want something other than a chain restaurant.
I sat at the outdoor section. There were a few leaks in the tarp/awning but there were enough tables to choose from to avoid the leaks. The watermelon caipirinhas were good at $16. I ordered the top sirloin with sautéed garlic and yucca fries. I think it was about $30. The location is convenient to the theaters and it was quiet instead of noisy. The service was fine but the food is simple, comfort food.
The dinner was delicious, but the service was a little spotty. 8 people ordered drinks, and one was missing and we had to remind them twice for it. Also, the 4 that ordered coffee never got it, and it had to be removed from the bill. That being said, we told them that we had theater tickets at 7 and they got us out of there on time. I would give them another try because the food was so good!
Simply fabulous food with excellent service and a lovely ambience. There is a very pretty garden in the back as well as outdoor seating in the front. I came here with a friend for the 3 course price fixed lunch on a Thursday. I got Caipirinha, a typical Brazilian drink. Very good. And then for the appetizer, I got the house salad which was good. For the main, I got piranha na chapa, (sizzling steak) which was fabulous. It came with rice and beans (the best beans I have had anywhere). My friend and I shared the fried bananas which was excellent. For dessert, I got the chocolate mousse. It was perhaps THE best chocolate mousse I have had anywhere. Very very chocolatey. I highly recommend this restaurant. It never disappoints.
Brazil, Brazil Brilliant
I went w 6 good friends for lunch. Atmosphere so nice (they redecorated it) that we didn't realize that 3 hours had passed! Some
friends ordered from $25 prix fixe a nd others ordered from the main menu. All orders were delicious. There was a wide variety of dishes and 1
tried the Brazilian dish w pork, meat, collard greens, black beans etc. Each was presented in different plates and also in a metal pot.
My sisters and cousin and I ate here after an afternoon theatre adventure. The service was great. The food was delicious. The wait staff was helpful and friendly.
We enjoyed appetizers, entrees, a pitcher of Watermelon Sangria with Cachaça. We ate in the outdoor pavilion. A real treat. The whole experience was delightful.
Having just returned from our annual 45 days in Rio, we were looking forward to our pre-theatre (Hello Dolly) dinner experience at Brazil, Brazil. We were not disappointed. The food was very similar to the same meals we had in Rio (and those we prepared for ourselves now). The staff was wonderful, friendly, fun, professional. It didn't hurt that the restaurant has a fair number of theatre eccentrics dressed and ready to support the casts.
All in all a wonderful evening.
The host (Filippe - spelling??) couldn't have been more gracious!! The moment I arrived (a few minutes late), he said not to worry about it and when I asked if my party could sit outside, he gave me options for both indoor and outdoor sitting. Also, they were great in servicing us and getting us out in time for a evening show. The food recommendations were great and they did a great job gathering the crew around to sing happy birthday to my sister, which she was very surprised! Thanks guys for making it a memorable evening :). I hope to go back to Brazil Brazil for brunch one day soon as their vast menu for brunch looks good too!
My friend and I had reservations for dinner at 6:15. We were not seated until 20 minutes later which raised our anxiety about getting to the theater on time.. The staff was nice and offered to create seating in the middle of the floor, but it looked unappealing. The food was good but not spectacular for New York standards and prices. Given other excellent nearby restaurants, we will pass on this one next time.
I made reservations at Brazil Brazil this past Wednesday at 12:00 for a pre-theatre lunch through Open Table. Arrived at 11:45 and was waiting for them to open up along with 4 other groups of people. At 12:10 I knocked on the door and one of the workers came to the door and told me they don't open up until 2:00 pm. We had to scramble to find a place to eat at such a late hour to make our show on time. I don't know who's to blame for the SNAFU, whether it be the restaurant or Open Table, contacted both of them and neither one has gotten back to me.
As of this revision, Open Table did get back to me and said they would contact the restaurant to see what went wrong, as they said this was an unacceptable occurrence. Open Table was kind enough to give me some dining points to make up for this incident but the restaurant itself still hasn't responded to the email I sent them. I guess they don't appreciate people's patronage and obviously don't read their online reviews or emails.
We really enjoy Brazil Brazil. The location is outstanding for pre or post theater being on restaurant row. Our server was Tawa who was very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable regarding the menu. We love the interesting variety of food and cocktails . This was not our first time and this restaurant consistently delivers a high quality and enjoyable dining experience.
