Brazil Brazil was a bit of a disappointment. The food is OK and the food & drinks seem high priced for what you get. Dessert was the highlight of the meal. NOTE: The restaurant is NOT air conditioned. It is open to the street and they have fans blowing air. It was quite warm and humid on this August evening. Some details:

We started with the sauteed artichoke hearts and the Salgadinho (four turnovers.) Good but nothing special. We had two entrees, both recommended by the server. The sauteed shrimps served in a coconut shell were good but again nothing special. The Feijoada (black bean pork stew, dry beef, and sausage) had a fair bit of bone and some fat so there was some waste. It was tasty and good but I've had far better versions of this national dish at other NYC restaurants. For dessert we shared the Açai Bowl and the Exotic Bomba. These were VERY good and a bit large. We should have skipped the appetizers so we would have had more room for dessert.

Their sangrias are expensive - about $65 to $70 for a pitcher, about $40 to $45 for a half pitcher. Other restaurants in the same area offer a full pitcher for about $40 to $45. We stuck with bottled beer, of which they have a large selection, at $8 per bottle - a typical price for the area. They have a full bar.

Noise level was quiet except for vehicles passing by on 46th Street due to the restaurant being open to the street.

I can only recommend the desserts and the bottled Brazilian beer, and only on a cooler and drier day/evening.

Waitress took her dinner break during our meal so we didn't get the service I expected. A different server should have taken our table if she was due for her break.
Plating of the meal was boring. Just a steak, yukka fries and fried plantains, no garnish , nothing eye appealing. Bland taste on shrimp dish.

We were a party of 6 and had requested a 'fun' table positing via Opentable - unfortunately they did not have our Opentable res recorded, but they gave us a great and fun table anyway. Great ambiance in the heart of theatre district although not too loud that you couldn't hear each other. The front patio had live entertainment.

When asking for a different sauce that was on the menu then what came with the dish, waiter at first refused & then when we said we would pay for it - charged a huge amount extra for a tiny, tiny dish. Very bad policy.

We were a group of 4 adults and a 2-yr old child in a high chair having a pre-matinee lunch. The menu is very diverse in all categories: apps, salads, mains that include all meats, fish, seafood, and vegetarian. Everything we ordered was well prepared and very tasty.

Our one complaint is the slow service. We had been seated at 1:15, It took a long while for our order to be taken and then, again. to be served. With rushing through our entrees, we barely got out in time for our 3pm curtain,

To be fair, there was a group of about 20 people seated just before us. On the other hand, I would(and did) expect a restaurant in the theater district to be able to accommodate.

Went there to watch the Brazil game. Made reservations online and then went to the restaurant to double check where our "garden" table was going to be. Felile told they were not planning to open the garden as they're not expecting too many people; but they woukd sit us there in case they decided to open the garden area. Felipe showed me the table they were going to reserve for us inside. Got there 10min before my reservation and was told by a hostess they had already "checked me in"...I asked how coukd she have checked me in if I was just getting there...she didn't know what to say and repeated they had given my table away. The restaurant was packed and they DID open the garden but still did not sat us there. They gave us another table that had partial view of the screen, so only some of us were able to really see the game. The game was being aired in 3 different TVs and there was a 2 minutes delay amongst the TVs. Everyone was complaining as we were hearing people cheering for goals and other exciting parts of the game we would seen only 2 min afterwards. We and a lot of other unhappy customers asked if they could put all TVs in the same channel...they "pretended" to be checking on it and never did anything about t. Lastly, we ordered food but only our friend's food arrived. We waited for at least 30min after our friends got their food and even after asking a couple of times about our food it never arrived. We canceled our food and left during half time of the game. The bill came with 18% of tip included, even after this poor service by the kitchen/table/management. They were SO unorganized and not prepared at all to host a worldcup soccer match while serving lunch to all the tables. Very disappointing and we will not come back to this place! We will watch the worldcup matches and eat Brazilian food someplace else.

We had a very nice dinner at this restaurant. The meat is very well prepared and the yucco fries a nice. Especially with the spied mayo instead of american bbq sauce. So ask your waiter for the brazilian spiced mayo! The portion are rather big for european standards but because it is so tasty you will eat everything. Also the staff is very friendly and authentic and also nice to look at.

We had tickets to a concert and the restaurant just so happened to be on the same street as our venue, Sony Hall. Since we love to try new restaurants, and Brazilian cuisine is one of our favorites, we decided to try Brazil Brazil. WOW, what a great choice!

Upon arrival our server asked if we had a show to get to, just so he'd know how long we had to dine, which I thought was great. The drinks were excellent, the service was attentive, and the food..oh, the food was OUTSTANDING. For an appetizer, you must try the Frango a Passarinho. We also had the grilled tilapia and the picanha steak. Both entrees were amazing. If you love a good cocktail, please try the Brazilian Mojito..um, delicious!

We can't wait to go to another event in the Theater District so we can dine there again. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!! I've been telling everyone about it since we left.

My husband and I were going to a show and looking for a restaurant to have dinner at beforehand. Brazil Brazil was a great little find! Reasonable prices for NYC and excellent service! Part of my heritage is Portuguese, so I was happy to find some authentic Portuguese dishes on the menu like my Grandmother used to make, including a codfish cake as part of an appetizer. I would have loved an entire appetizer of them! There was even a couple dining there at the same time as us who only spoke Portuguese, and they had a waiter who was able to converse with them! We will be back for sure!

Our meal was just outstanding. We landed there on a quiet night — Tuesday while shows were about to start — and the staff was highly attentive. We got excellent suggestions and loved everything; I got the Peixe Natau and it was a lovely blend of flavors and textures. It was so incredibly hard to stop eating. I would happily go back and explore more of their menu!

We had a great experience at Brazil Brazil . We were a group of 8, after the theater. They took us early for our reservation. The food and drinks were great. The service was great. I believe our server’s name was Felipe. He was excellent, friendly and accommodating. You can tell he takes pride in his job, the restaurant and the food he is serving. He made us feel like he, personally, wanted us to have a great time, and we did!

I have friends that love this place, and I was looking to try something new. I think I must have hit it on the wrong night. It was one of those situations where you have a feeling that things are not going to go well and debate leaving. Well, I should have followed my gut. The hostess asked for the reservation name and left the hostess stand saying she would be right back. It took her five minutes to come back. The waiter was prompt and asked us what type of water we wanted. Ten minutes later, we still did not have water. I should also mention that during all of this, they were getting ready for a wedding in an adjacent room. People were going back and forth frantically and yes, the lovely bride and her father started their journey down the aisle next to our table. Our black bean soup and spinach salad order took twenty minutes to receive but were tasty. After finishing them, their was another delay waiting for the entrees. The lobster ravioli was good but generic but the veggie burger was nasty. The menu said it is made in house. Having been a vegetarian for thirty years, I can tell the difference. This one may have been made in the house of Dr. Praeger but not in this restaurant. If they were house made, they would have had a Latin flavor and used some delicious black beans that were abundant in the restaurant. When delivered, I looked at the cheese on top and it looked like a delectable Latin cheese. I soon discovered it was tofu slabs. Just plain, old, bland chunks of bean curd. Do they really think vegetarians eat tofu on everything??? Next, a table of four sat next to us and asked for the prix fixe menu. No one had even offered this as an option. The noise level was awful. Overall, this place sucked. P.S. They said we were no-shows and I got an e-mail from Open Table. Ugh!!!
