Bravo Brasserie - Providence Ratings and Reviews
We dined at Bravo for a New Year's Eve dinner with family. The restaurant does have a nice atmosphere and a feeling that many regulars like to dine there. Service was excellent and the food was very good. Plenty of space between tables and the noise level is moderate at most. Very easy to hear your dinner companions. Our waitress, Maureen, was friendly and efficient!
Put at round table for 6 in the middle where everyone (wait staff and seating of other parties) had to walk by - we were continuously bumped. Too tight and suggest less jamming in big parties to the middle (there was another big group in the middle next to us and a man from the other table was resting his arm on one of our chairs when we were seated). Suggest using perimeter tables. Food good. Loud.
Really disappointing experience at Bravo. I ate there a couple of years ago and had a great meal. This time we went there after a matinee at Trinity Rep. We had reservations, but the hostess seemed annoyed to have to seat us (even though the restaurant was half empty). We didn’t see a waitress for about 20 minutes, and the service remained unapologetically poor for the rest of our visit. There were 5 people in our party and not one of us enjoyed our food. The burgers were cooked to death and looked like hockey pucks, the calamari was mushy, and the linguini with clams was extremely salty and drowning in sauce. When we got the bill we were charged for drinks we had ordered but never received (they corrected this when we pointed it out). We won’t be back.
As with many others, we went before the theater. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. My husband ordered the mussels, which came in a very large bowl. The mussels were large, but tender and in a not too spicy sauce with chorizo. My bolognese was delicious and enough left over for lunch the next day. This will definitely be our go to place before Trinity.
While the service was fine, for the second time in a row the food was subpar. I had an eggs Benedict dish, and the only flavor to the hollandaise was salt. It was also lukewarm at best. The seasoned potatoes that came with it only tasted of paprika. All in all, disappointing. We probably won’t be going back.
Service at Bravo is always outstanding, and food offerings always satisfying. Atmosphere is upscale, urban, and sophisticated. Bravo is always crowded at the dinner hour---but is a perfect spot for pre-theatre dining (Trinity Rip is across the street; PPAC is two blocks south). Noise level is high, so don't expect an intimate, romantic dinnertime experience. We like Bravo and have pre-theatre dinners here six or seven times each season. Bravo's valet parking is a plus in a busy downtown.
First time at Bravo and it did not disappoint. Got there early for our reservation and had a cocktail the bar. Excellent bartender and drinks. Had the special surf and turf and it was superb. Perfect for pre theater dinner and just steps from Trinity. We will definitely be back.
We came in for a late lunch on a Friday. It was very quiet except for patrons at the bar. We were promptly greeted and sat. Service was quick and friendly. We both had the steak sandwich. It had plenty of steak in it and the meat was tender. Overall a great meal.
i've been going to Bravo for many years pre-post Trinity and other times too. Different owners; updated menu. One of my favorite places. Service is friendly and attentive, even when they are rushing to get everyone across the street in time for a play.
Gabe, who takes good care of parking cars, is one of the nicest people ever.
Disappointing experience, I’ve dined at Bravo a number of times and have noticed a decline in service each time. From the extremely slow valet parking to disorganized hostess to the seemingly overworked wait staff. The food was ok not great and the convenience of the Theaters was a plus. However, I would choose a different Resturant in the future.
BB is across Washington Street from Trinity Rep---and is perfect for pre-theatre dinner. Service is prompt, and they are accustomed to people having to leave by 7:15 pm or so for a 7:30 curtain.
Their pasta Bolognese is not the traditional recipe but a rather thicker one in a faint pink cream sauce. It's very good---but it's not what you might expect.
Overall: BB is a fine and convenient place for dinner before a Trinity play.
