It is incredible that NYC is forcing places like this to close their doors. It was one of NYC best values. We went many times and always been very happy. I am glad I was there on their last night.

New Year's Eve at Brasserie -- it's last night in existence. Excellent evening. Food and service were great. It will be missed. It's a shame that they're closing this institution.

The Brasserie was one of the greatest restaurants in NYC. My wife and I had our first date there and we loved it so much that we decided to get married there. It was truly beautiful with amazing food. It will be missed.

The Brasserie was our favorite restaurant fir 45 years.Never had a meal less than excellent.

Have been here before and found it OK, but not special. That changed with this visit. Brasserie has upped its game to another level and is now very good. Food, service and wine list are very good. Brasserie is also easy on the budget. Well worth a visit.

It was our last lunch at brasserie and we were so sad during it. Even until the very last second everything was so wonderful. You look around at all the history that the restaurant has and it is so wonderful. We are very sad to see the restaurant leave us but it had a long life of wonderful memories. All the managers and employees deserve a round of applause and I hope they will all be taken care of.

Waiter got one order wrong and all had finished before that person was served. Salmon ordered rare arrived cooked through and a completely different preparation to the one described by waiter. Waiter took extremely long time to produce dessert menu. Sad end to a great restaurant

I am so sad to see this institution close its doors in a few days. I am hoping that by some miracle, the restaurant decides to reopen in a different location. I feel bad for those who never had a chance to enjoy the food at Brasserie, for it has been consistently good and the service is always top-notch. This restaurant will be missed.

The service was good, but food were served really slow. Came here for the christmas dinner pre fixe, the food was just okay, nothing spectacular. Will skip it next time.

I am a regular at brasserie bc food is always good, decently pric d for this midtown neighborhod . Prix fixe and al a carte, american cuisine with a slight French accent. lovely decor

Its really just psychology. It's a large space, and gives a rather cold feeling as a result. The food itself was just excellent, and the service was very helpful. The restaurant was maybe 1/3 full for Christmas dinner, and it's clear why. With everything the same, or even with higher prices, but in a smaller place with a more happy atmosphere, it would have been crowded with happy diners.

We have eaten at the Brasserie for Christmas Brunch, for the last few years. They have raised the price from $19,99 to $26.00. They no longer offer a champagne as a drink and it is impossibly noisy. Next year, we will try somewhere else.

Love this institution. Too bad it is closing. A perfect spot for mid town lunch. Will miss this post-modern gem.

We enjoyed a late pre-Christmas dinner at Brasserie, but were dismayed to find out when we left that they would not be there in 2016. I'm sad that I took so long to try the place, as they delivered an excellent bistro menu with great service and a solid wine list.

The staff is so efficient, friendly and welcoming. The prix fixe Sunday brunch is an outstanding value.

I have come here at times for 25 years. It is jazzed up inside now and the people are very solicitous, and it is, I admit, a decent place midtown. We recently had a brunch here and 50% of the food ordered by 5 of us was really good and 50% was OK. Service disappeared for long periods of time. OK if you want to be there, but also OK to pick among the many options within 3 blocks.

This restaurant is scheduled to close at the end of December, so we went to have one last meal there. The welcome was warm and the table we were given fulfilled the requests we had made. The room is a mid-century classic and remains stunning. The food was, as always, excellent. The server was so disinterested and the service so slow and inattentive that it was clear that she had stopped trying. Nevertheless, I would urge you to go if you have not been, and to go again if you have.

Another great New York restaurant is closing. What a shame.

Enjoyed an amazing Sunday Brunch. The baguettes were as French as one can find this far North of Paris. The food was as good as it gets. The service was right on par with the Cuisine. A great find and new regular stop when in NYC.

Food was perfectly acceptable Midtown upper-middle-market type. Room has interesting mid-century vibe, but it is rock concert, New York Rangers game loud when full. Not something I am usually very sensitive to, but this was really nuts.

I cannot tell you anything about the food. I'm sure it was fine, however, it was forgettable. What really made an impression on me was the overwhelming noise in this restaurant. I took a client to lunch to celebrate the holidays, and couldn't hear him across a table for 2. We were seated in the side room with a low ceiling. Do not let anyone seat you in the side room. You will not enjoy your meal or your company.

This is a great restaurant for a late evening meal or a first date/romance/ break up-make up evening. Our experience began with a seating issue which was quickly resolved to our great satisfaction. The Duck Confit and Rack of Lamb was superb and the service attendant but not helicopter mode. We not rushed out but left alone. The booths felt very private, even though the dining room bustled. Great experience.

This was our third Thanksgiving dinner at Brasserie. It was absolutely wonderful from menu to service to food to atmosphere! Couldn't have asked for anything more! Definitely thankful:0)

Last year was amazing so we figured we would do it one more time. Boy were we sorry. Diner food at best for $60 a head. What a joke. Absolutely inexcusable. $160 with minimal tip for such dry turkey and cambells soup. Being long time customers of the brasserie we are literally depressed and this has ruined our thanksgiving. This was our 3rd thanksgiving in a row here so this was traumatic.

Great restaurant but they are closing! Guess their lease was not renewed. Food was always top notch. The hostess told me that they would be closed this month.

Somewhat minimal design ambiance but less so when the restaurant fills up. Good classic dishes with a modern interpretation. Very nice bar.

An excellent evening: We were seated when we arrived--which is not the case at 8 PM on a Saturday night at most Manhattan restaurants. They saved us a booth, as I'd requested. The service was friendly, responsive & informed. The menu is varied & I believe that if you like a particular food, you will love it the way the Brasserie prepares it! Spot on French cooking.
Nobody serves better Pommes Frites or French Bread. Entrees were NY Sirloins & Bronzino, all perfectly cooked. Lovely crab-cake appetizer. We also loved the quiet to moderate noise level that's so absent now in most restaurants, any night at 8. We could actually enjoy our meal & each other's conversation without shouting!

The Brasserie is just a terrific place for a great meal at a reasonable price. The ambiance is excellent, and both the food and the service are always top notch. Waiter recommended a great appetizer for my wife.

Great place for a group to have a quiet dinner. However, the décor is very clinical - there's noting warm or appealing about the restaurant. Food was fine but nothing special. Beet salad very good but the crab cakes were disappointing. Small and expensive for what you get - not much crab in them. Given that the restaurant was not very crowded the service was still slow. I'd probably use this place again for a group but more for the location than anything else.

Amazing brunch menu

We went here because of location and hearing that it was closing I figured this was our last chance. The experience was great as was the food and ambience. Sorry to see it go.

Its convenient but silly expensive They charge for items in omelettes like a cheap pizza place. They also added chips to a breakfast plate when I did not ask for that and bbuttered toast when I asked for no butter. Its not worth the price except for the location

good food and great atmosphere for lunch. the flip side of the high noise level is that your private conversation is drowned by the surroundings. also good for people watching.

We always dine at The Brasserie when we are in NYC and this time had to say goodbye for it will no longer be open when we return.A very sad day for us and a lot of others I think.

We loved the decor and the food and service were excellent. We sat in a booth which was wonderfully quiet. We were sad to learn that the restaurant will be closing in December 2015 due to new owners of the building they have been in since 1959! We will definitely try one of its sister restaurants on our next visit.

We hadn't been there in years. The place felt cold both in atmosphere and temperature. We needed to be out quickly and ordered burgers and they were just ordinary. The fries were especially salty

Brasserie is located in very busy midtown. Nevertheless, the tables are well spaced and the noise is well muted. I consider this the biggest possible plus in midtown Manhattan, especially since the food is also very good.
