I made a reservation on Open Table and got there and the restaurant was closed.
Cosy brasserie with good service and great beat tartar!
The restaurant was good, the food was superb and the service was great. The only gripe I would have is with OpenTable as the restaurant were not aware of what we had been offered as a menu or the offer we had taken.
Service was good and it is a very nice restaurant. The escargots were the best I have ever had. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Overall it was very good. It is just that I think it is a bit pricey. My girl friend and I didn't order drinks or dessert so it was two starters and two mains and it all came to a total of 90 pounds.
If you are looking for a French restaurant in London, this is the right place.
I fell in love with the beef carpaccio, the best I had in my life , and the beef tartare was just amazing.
Do not miss this place if you like French food and fresh products.
Our group loves French food, and Brasserie Gustave did not disappoint! The escargots were superb -- perhaps the best I have had. The rabbit entree was tender and flavorful. For dessert I tried the crepes suzettes. What a treat. The atmosphere was casual and pleasant, and everyone, from the greeter to the waiter and the manager, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Next time I am in London, I will go back to this wonderful restaurant.
Traditional French dishes, well prepared; steak tartare, snails, rabbit. Service spotty. The dining room spartan, not helped by the many vacant tables.
We really like Brasserie Gustave; in terms of atmosphere and quality of food and preparation, it is really way above the level of its competitors in this slice of the market in London. Service was good and unintrusive. Everything arrived not too soon, not too late. We are regulars at Brasserie Gustave when in London, and will continue to be.
What a great place. M Gustave is brilliant. Such a character. He made the dining experience really fun and is very knowledgable about food (obviously ) wine and cars....
The food was great and even tailored a dish to our requests.
Wonderful fresh seasonal ingredients.
A must for those who want high end Clean French food. We will be back.
I can't fault the service. The waiters were attentive without going over board, polite, well turned out. But I found the quality of the food to be poor. I had the wild garlic soup with frogs legs. This arrived with snails as the frogs legs hadn't been delivered. To be fair they did not charge me for this when I pointed out I was expecting frogs legs. However, the soup was bland and wasn't hot enough for my liking. It tasted more like it had been made with spinach than wild garlic. For my main I had ribeye with frites and pepper sauce. I did like the pepper sauce but the steak was chewy and not melt-in-the-mouth like a good ribeye. My first mouthful had to come back out and sit on the side of the plate as I couldn't chew my way through it (classy!). The frites were overdone and dry. For such a basic dish I thought this was really poor. To be fair the steak was cooked properly but the quality of the meat was poor. Not what you expect for £24. We arrived at 7pm on a Friday night and there were only 3 other couples in there. When we left at 8.30 the place was still just as empty. This is a bit puzzling as according to Opentable there were no more slots left at 8pm when I would have liked to turn up.
Great food, we didnt feel rushed and service was excellent! I would recommend for a special dinner
We dined on a Saturday night. It was a bit quiet so not a bustling atmosphere. The food was excellent - mainly traditional French fare, but produced with flare and an occasional twist. Great wine too. Not cheap, but then it is SW3.
First rate, thank you for an excellent evening. Attention to detail, I know all the restaurants in the area and this is tops.
had very nice meal and evening at Brasserie Gustave
on the occasion of my daughter's birthday. were greeted on arrival and all staff were very friendly and attentive at all times. food was excellent and we enjoyed the bit of theatre for the preparation of the crepe suzette dessert. a bit pricy but then that's London
Brasserie Gustave is an authentic French restaurant with superb cuisine of a high international standard. We both opted for the Bouiilabaisse which was outstanding, tasty, delicate and subtle, as in fact were the starters and desserts we ordered. The wine list is extensive with some excellent vintages all of course towards the top of the price range. The service could not be faulted, attentive and discreet without being too intrusive or familiae. The prices are on the high standard but when the ambiance of the restaurant, the outstanding cuisine and sheer professionalism of the staff are taken into account it is well worth it.
For me the best steak tartare and crepes suzette in town, hands down. Both are made at the table in front of you. A little old fashioned, but this place you eat with your mouth and tongue, not just your eyes like at some fashionable place that is here one week, and gone the next. This place holds a very special place in my heart.
We're are big fans of Brasserie Gustave. It has such a welcoming atmosphere / service - and excellent food - that keeps us returning over and over again. For me, it's the best steak tartar in London, and their sauce béarnaise is a must!
Me and my girlfriend went to this restaurant and were blown away by how good everything was from the food to the service it was exactly what we wanted from our evening. The food was amazing and the service was even better we never felt ignored once, and everyone was welcoming and polite, I think even the owner came over to have a chat with us which we both was very impressed with. The wine also very good, I would happily come back to this restaurant, I strongly recommend to everyone!!!!
Great reception, first night with chef's new menu and food was outstanding. Excellent presentation, food full of flavours that makes you eat slow to taste each ingredient used in prep. Desserts were amazing, totally recommendable creme brullete and crepes suzzette.... Ambience was great, not too many people, and very relaxed.
This was first visit, verywarm greeting & was really welcomed, both menus & wine fully explained, both starter & main course memorable, could not fault the staff or the ambienance,we will be back
Good standard French food, which you used to find in France in the past . Pleasant service, reasonable prices.
Mr Weiss did it again! The new incarnation of "Brasserie St Jaques" does not disappoint ! Great food, great atmosphere, good price. Thumbs up & 5 stars !!!
Much of the meal was excellent, particularly the smoked eel and the bone marrow starters, but let down by a rough tough venison casserole. Some brilliant desserts too.
Have tried a number of brasseries in London, and this is definitely our favorite. Warm welcome followed by food well above the level of the competition and great service. A diverse menu, and not just the same one finds elsewhere. Really accommodating and friendly. Will be going back again and again.
Great . In all areas .
Brilliant service. The manager really is a special person and makes the experience unique
Excellent Sunday night early dinner! We live locally and just went for the fixed price offer, which was excellent value for money. Service was the best I've had in London! :)
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff were very helpful, the Somalian recommended wine was superb and the food delicious.
The service is really great and makes up for a food which is good but nothing outstanding. A bit of a disappointment was foie gras that tasted like it was bought from a nearby shop. The rest of the food was good but lacked wow factor. Make sure you order crepes for a dessert though! The ambience is great for a romantic dinner.
A thoroughly lovely dining experience. The restaurant is inviting, service was outstanding and the food was delicious.
Absolutely wonderful. The fillet steak tartar was to die for.
Just looking at the menu it screams French Bistro but how well is it done? Well I can confirm this is a brilliant example!! Starting with roasted bone marrow and my wife the French onion soup both were full of flavour and large portion, perfect food to go with the wonderful carafe of Minervois I had chosen. We had both gone for steak tartare as a main....my wifes favourite and she is a veteran of many. Well she and I were blown away as it was made in front of us by the owner, spicy and full of flavour. It was very special and I would return tomorrow for this alone!
The food is unpretentious and fairly simple but the execution is expert....I shall definitely return!
A return visit for us but an introduction to the restaurant for my husband's brother and his wife (who cannot stop raving about it!). We had a wonderful evening. RIchard provided excellent wine pairing recommendations.
Amazing food, amazing service!
Really a cut above the usual brasserie food, charming and professional service. You feel welcome from the minute you walk in. A great place to be with someone you love.
Smart and deliberately French, Brasserie Gustave turned a meal-deal, pre-film bite into an occasion. The set menu looked good, we planned to go for just two courses.
The veloute for starter was probably the best pick - tasted good and I can't resist a soup poured into a garnished bowl. However, the endive tatin for main, which sounded so promising, did not work - too sweet. Out of greed we chose to have puddings and they were all classic dishes (creme brulee) done very well, the cheese was particularly generous.
I imagine that a la Carte would be expensive, but the classics e.g. a very good looking steak tartar, would be of a high standard.
I would go to gustave again if in the area as it had a lovely vibe, but I would not expect to have my most fabulous culinary experience there.
Foods, staffs and atmosphere were all so nice.
I definitely recommend to go there.
Even for Japanese people, the taste and the quality of the service is satisfiable.
Very nice and welcoming place. Food is delicious and the chef is a great character! Go go go
Authentic French food in the brasserie style, each dish very well conceived and produced, all at very reasonable prices for Chelsea/Fulham. Welcoming and attentive staff. Very nice to see some dishes prepared to taste in front of you - steak tartare for example. Nice regional wine list. Highly recommended.
This is a very good French restaurant. Great food and wonderful wine selection. The setting is perfect. Seats are very comfortable and the place is large so its not noisy. We, group of 5, were celebrating for some 3 hours. We didn't feel the desire to leave.
