The brunch menu is very good and has a wonderful selection. Our server and the Maitre'd were so very attentive and we never had to look for anyone to order another drink. Food was very tasty and well done.

we arrived at 12:40, told our server we were ordering soup and salad because we were going to a 2 PM show. Soup arrived, but then nothing. At 1:30, we started waving at our server telling her that if we couldn’t get our salad immediately, we needed to cancel th order. We got the salads around 1:35, and requested our check immediately and inhaled our food.
Soup, salad, water for 2 with tax and tip came to $78.

We had an hour to eat before the opera and were late due to traffic. We explained our concern to the waitress and AMAZINGLY, our meal showed up in 10 minutes. We actually had time left for coffee.
Service level is amazing. the bread and butter...second to none and the taste of the food is incredible.
If you enjoy french style dining experience, you will not regret dining at Cognac.

Disappointed. Food was awful. Staples like croak monseuir and rotisserie chicken were below average at best.

We had a nice brunch before the theatre. The dining room is attractive. My only criticism is with the avocado toast. The avocado spread was a bit too spicy and the accompanying salad had too much vinegar.

A wonderful choice for City Center or Theater District, with beautifully presented food, a nice range of choices - including some lively salads - and courteous, friendly service. Unusually for restaurants in this neighborhood and price range, the tables are graciously spaced.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Brasserie Cognac. The staff were professional and attentive. We enjoyed the spinach and beet salads, huge servings of crisp, fresh vegetables. The entrees of Berkshire pork chop and steak frites were cooked to perfection and also very generous in size. The frites were ok, but not up to Parisian standard. A good number of wines by the glass, and great coffee.
We were too full to manage desert.
Enjoyable French bistro food, give it a try

we were VERY disappointed this time: it is our "go-to" restaurant when we have a concert at Carnegie Hall: we could not sit in the back room (because they had not cleaned up from a party); the front room is also the bar...the pumpkin soup was good as was my friend's crab cake; the salad was "smallish" for sharing (we have noticed that the salads have been getting smaller...)and there was not a lot of avocado ...but the main problem was a couple sitting behind us. they were very loud. When my friend asked the waiter/manager to ask them politely to lower their voices, they were reluctant to do so and in fact, they did not and told us "they couldn't"...too bad for everyone: spoiled our dinner and we shall now look for another conveniently located spot .

Met a young colleague for a mid-afternoon discussion; and, while I had missed lunch and ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare and iced tea, she simply indulged in a selection from the hot tea menu. Very simple and relaxed; so much so, that she invited her next appointment to come over to meet her at Cognac just as I was departing.

We went there for breakfast. We ordered ala carte. I had the eggs Benedict which were ok and my husband had an omelette. There was no toast for the omelette. I thought there would be bread for the table- no bread . But then no toast with a $13 omelette. We will be trying other places in the neighborhood.

I've eaten here several times in the past but this mornings brunch was terrible. The service was lacking and I even had to stand and request more water and the place only had 3 tables. We went with the brunch special which was runny eggs and the bill was over $40. Will not return.

A great place for a business breakfast or lunch meeting during a busy work week. Tried the lunch pre fixe for the first time with a party of four and found it the perfect solution for the whole table. The wine was just right. All the more terrific in that it's situated directly across from my regular office on Broadway near 55th Street.

Stopped here twice this week, once for a wine and cheese snack in the late afternoon, and once for lunch. The cheese plate was beautifully presented and large enough to share. The prix fixe lunch was a bargain. Staff were friendly and attentive. Lunch time can get very loud.

I went to the restaurant with my mother, we both had soup, onion and lobster, and both were delicious. I was surprised that the two types of bread were bad, a very thick integral and a tasteless baguette. I hoped that in a French-inspired restaurant the breads were great.

It's a very conveniently located place with respect to theatres, Carnegie Hall, Columbus Circle and the like. I wish they used a/c inside; it was a bit hot for me. I also wish they had a wider selection of French brasserie items. But it's good value and pleasant as it is.

This used to be my go to place for a quick great bite, easy to get to, nice little French place. This time the food was not up to par. It was the restaurant week menu but not a good representation of their food. I feel like this place changed hands, very different than it used to be. Will not go back any time soon.

A very pleasant internal space, with lots of outdoor seating (but who wants to sit outside on Broadway?). I'd have preferred having some a/c rather than open doors. Nice French brasserie food, as advertised, including excellent escargots, steak tartare, and the like. Would have liked more traditional hot dishes, like ris de veau. Altogether a pleasant experience on a mid-summer Sunday evening.

One of us had the restaurant week menu which proved to be absolutely delicious. The other had the eggs Benedict on the breakfast menu. Again excellent just the right amount of lemon and eggs done perfectly. A beautiful day a beautiful restaurant to sit outside. The AC was not working so it was very warm inside. Long time no AC.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone for a nice Sunday brunch on a nice beautiful sunny day

Came here for restaurant week. I had escargot appetizer, red snapper entree and coconut shell dessert. All three delicious. My husband had same except entree was steak which was not bad. Dessert was very refreshing. Pretty pricy if ordering from regular menu do it was a good deal with restaurant week menu.

I've walked by this place several times but never thought about dining here. I tried it out during restaurant week. They seated me right away even though I was early for my reservation. They had indoor and outdoor dining. They asked which you prefer. I stayed inside. I had the escargot, snapper and peach Melba. The escargot was delicious. It had the right amount of flavor and was not rubbery. The snapper was a nice size fillet perfectly cooked. What I loved was this place didn't think broccoli and carrot were the only vegetables in existence. This dish actually had an entire Japanese eggplant and some asparagus. What lost the extra star was the peach Melba. It came out and I thought it looked delicious. I thought it had some nice fresh peaches and tangerines. It had a couple of thinly sliced peaches and the tangerines were actually canned peaches. I would never advocate using canned peaches on any dessert. They need a better pastry chef. The rest of the meal was great.

The restaurant did not have air conditioning. I made the mistake of using Open Table and had no way of knowing that. Perhaps if I had spoken to the restaurant directly (A Human Being) they may have had the decency to mention the AC situation. Maybe not. The staff was apologetic and did their best. Not cool. No pun intended!
