Brasserie Cassis Ratings and Reviews
I took my wife on our Anniversary as she has traveled extensively in France and wanted to have her enjoy a "French" experience closer to home-she loved it and felt the ambiance and choices on the menu were very authentic. The food was delicious and as I am a vegetarian found enough on the menu to fill me up.
Brasserie Cassis is a local neighborhood restaurant for me. I have eaten here on many occasions over the years and since it has opened. I follow and eat at this restaurant groups other restaurants as well.
For me to go here for a special occasion has been usually a great experience. Valentine's Day may have been my worst experience with this restaurant so far. Only the food and drinks were off.
We always start off with the House (champagne) sparkling wine Usually good, cold and decent enough for $10. Valentines Day, not good, not cold and probably Persecco, and not their regular French stuff. No we did not send it back as it is not all that important for me. A sweet Persecco, not even brut.
Next - Salad Cassis - always big enough for two, lots of stuff, blue cheese and nuts. Not this time. The salad was reduced by 50%, 2 beets, a small sprinkling of cheese and no nuts (menu still states nuts?) Again, quite disappointing for a regular customer.
Entrée of Chicken and Steak were to perfection as usual.
If the restaurant is having problems, they are showing it. I will give them one last chance in a few weeks.
For $125 the meal should be much better and not leave you disappointed.
Restaurant was extremely loud. Table of young parents with screaming toddlers on a Saturday night and they did nothing to quiet the children. Also, while the food was good, it came to the table at the pace of eating at the diner. I didn't expect an all night affair, but I didn't expect to be completely done with my evening in under an hour.
Loved my meal at Brasserie Cassis. Had the onion soup, which was flavorful and hearty. Enjoyed the pork chop, smothered with almonds, kale and fingerling potatoes. A bit sweet for me, but still an interesting dish. The chocolate mousse was out of this world.
The food was exceptionally delicious. I went at noon on a Sunday for brunch and had an enjoyable afternoon. The wait for each course took time so definitely not a quick bite but it is worth the wait. You are not rushed and can enjoy your conversation with your table and the food was hot, super fresh and delicious! Steak was tender and perfect! Mussels -- again perfect with crispy hot and fresh baguettes.
Excellent French bistro-style dinner.
Solid apps -- onion tart w warm goat cheese & also a great clam dish (no cheese board choice, oddly) and very good entrees.
Salmon, shrimp risotto and the roast chicken were the mains.
Creme brulee and the apple tart dessert.
Service was on point, atmosphere is very cozy even though it's a storefront. It get crowded Fri and Sat, and loud, too. If you don't like that, start early and make a reservation on those days.
We loved it!
I have been there several times in the last 6 months and each time the food and service were wonderful. I am looking forward to going back again very soon. The best review I think I can leave is that I can't wait to go back.
As usual, Cassis never disappoints! The food is delicious, the service is always efficient and friendly - which is why we keep going back. They have the best french onion soup around, the daily ravioli is always amazing - they cook their fish and steak to perfection. And a meal wouldn't be a meal with out the madelines for dessert.
Food was excellent, very tiny dining room and close proximity to other tables, didn’t have our wine selection, the waiter then brought over a bottle of the house wine and opened it without waiting, we didn’t want it and ordered our 2nd choice wine which they did have. Place was packed and service a bit slow. The Coquilles St Jacque was excellent as were the lamb chops.
We had a group of 12 for my sister’s engagement party. They were very accommodating in scheduling our group, but we waited for over an hour for appetizers and another 40 minutes for entrees. People who arrived after us ate and finished before we got our food. The food was good, but you could tell it was rushed. The mussels apps were amazing however as was the bar service.
Cassis is our go-to for special occasions as well as just for a delicious and lovely meal. My meat-eating members of the family love the steak frites and steak au poivre, and the fish lovers in my family always go to the mussels, cod and other seafood options. Service is always friendly, the food consistent, the ambiance energetic yet not overbearing. Love Cassis.
This restaurant is absolutely terrible! They are very disorganized there is no hostess or bartender and they are on Groupon so it looks like they are a sinking ship! The servers do not know the menus and it takes very long for the food to come out. It is extremely overpriced for what they are serving. Everybody knows hanger steak is the cheapest cut of meat and they charge $30 for it. Everybody knows that you can buy muscles anywhere for less than two dollars per pound but they charge you for a tiny little appetizer both $15. By the way that’s one dollar per muscle absolutely out ra servers do not know the menus and it takes very long for the food to come out. It is extremely overpriced for what they are serving. By the way that’s one dollar per muscle absolutely highway robbery. I do not mind paying money for great food and great value but this does not deliver. They lack on service, quality, and Value The place was absolutely empty on a Sunday night which tells you something. I will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to anybody in Plainview or the surrounding area. The place was absolutely empty on a Sunday night which tells you something. We’re never disappointed here. Dinner was last minute but love that we can go on Opentable and make reservations.
Food was delicious. The steak was probably one of the best I’ve ever had - and we eat out enough. We’ll be back soon. Monday mussel special can’t be beat!
This was my first time at the restaurant. The food was excellent and the wait staff were polite and responsive. The one thing that can be worked on was the wait time on each course. They need to work on getting the plates more quickly to the diner. Otherwise, I would wholeheartedly recommend.
our dinner was very good the salad was was it looked like a favorite with beets and greens very tasty.
My hanger steak was very good and cooked to perfection. The roast chicken was cooked well and very tasty. the french bread was great along with the pate.
Dessert no room maybe next time...
