Spent Valentine's Day with my family of three for a late night dinner. We had a lovely evening and would return. This cool French restaurant tucked under the old Essex Inn on Michigan Ave. We came away with more food than we could eat! We were a bit disappointed in the mussels; they were a bit overcooked. But, maybe we are mussel snobs - living in the Midwest, it is hard to find really great mussels. The broth they were served in - garlic and wine, was delicious. And, the bowl was overflowing and accompanied by frites to boot! Could make a meal from that. The arugula salad is enough for three and wonderfully garnished with grapefruit (different and yummy) and feta - great vinaigrette. The smoked fish pasta was amazing - tremendous flavor. The beef bourganiese was dry (like grandma's pot roast), but maybe that is what it is - not familiar with that dish. And the mashed potatoes that accompanied it, were fabulous. Very generous portions, very reasonably priced, fantastic service. We had a wonderful evening.

The staffs was great, the food took too long, and little heavy on the salt.

Service wss great, setting was great also.

A better defined menu would help with ordering.

The food on Christmas Day was excellent. We made a reservation but the person at the door did not even look it up or ask as the place was pretty empty. Our waiter got our drinks and orders but we then saw him leave for the day. The man collecting dishes and filling water was more helpful and friendly then the person who took over. We had to keep asking him to find out who was helping us. Was disappointed in service and how empty the place was. I will say the soup, entree and dessert was delicious.

I booked the restaurant because it was both close to our hotel and because of good ratings. We had two of the prix fixe menus between the two of us and found the food to be very well prepared and very tasty. Even more impressive was that this quality came despite our being almost the only ones left in the restaurant when we ordered. Further, the menu was very reasonably priced, especially when compared to some other nearby restaurants charging several times more for much-more-basic fare. We would definitely return to this restaurant.

Food and ambience was perfect. However the wait staff was extremely subpar. Was rushing us to order and then after we did, the waiter never returned. Never delivered our food, didn't check up on us and did not bring out bill. Then any left overs were poorly bagged and just thrown into containers.

Just picked this place because it was two blocks from Auditorium and it was French. Did not disappoint! Urban decor - nice. $9.00 glass of Domaine Brunet, Pinot Noir 2013 - very nice.
Shell pasta with Braised Chicken was perfect! Rustic yet not heavy and oh so tasty!!! My friend had the Grilled Chicken Breast, but what made this breast so awesome was the great unexpected flavors of corn, lemon and apple. She loved it!!

We will be back!!

It's difficult to write a recommendation or a review because Brasserie by LM is so inconsistent. I live in the neighborhood, and this is one of very few "grownup" restaurants in the college town of the South Loop. So I keep giving it another try, but sometimes I'm disappointed, like in this visit. In two previous lunches I've really enjoyed the croques with outstanding french fries. So I recommended the spot to my lunch group of 5 - 8 ladies who go to a neighborhood restaurant each month. Wouldn't you know--this time the sandwiches must have been sitting for a very long time before anyone thought to deliver them to us, because when we got them everything was lukewarm. We all sent our fries back but were too hungry to send back the sandwiches. Lukewarm béchamel is not pleasant. I had ordered a salad with dressing on the side. The one delivered to me was drenched in dressing, but the waiter was nowhere to be found. He had disappeared shortly after taking our order. I complained, and he took it off the bill, but I still did not have the salad I craved.

It seems that every other time I come here, something goes wrong. Probably next time I have lunch it will be perfect. But I can't count on it, so will not recommend the restaurant lest I be reviled by the person to whom I give the recommendation.

We had a wonderful quick dinner before the Ballet! The hostess and server were very accommodating to our time schedule and quickly expedited our order. The food was good, enjoyed by both children and adults. It was cozy and accessible. We'd love to go again when we had more time to enjoy and explore the menu and wine list in depth.

We went early for brunch. Given the quality of the food and service, we were surprised it was not busier. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Portions were quite generous. I had the croque monsieur, different from what I have had other places, packed with ham and smothered with a generous portion of melted cheese. My dining partner had scrambled eggs and brie on a croissant (more brie and less eggs would be better). The house potatoes, Idahoes baked, sliced, fried and dusted with parmesan and herbs were especially delicious. This is a great place for people who appreciate great food.

Went for brunch. Food was great. The non alcoholic beverages are extremely over priced. The service was odd and inconsistent, we had to ask multiple times for one water and coffee refill. The space is well decorated.

We were there for Thanksgiving dinner as recommended by the Chicago Tribune. Food was unimpressive. Service and ambience were ok. I would go there again but not for any special occassion. The day-to-day menu seemed to be much more appealing (but not available) than the special ones.

Friendly, professional staff. We were a party of 7 and the ambiance was conversation-friendly.
After dinner, we attended a performance of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. It was a pleasant stroll down Michigan Avenue. An enjoyable evening!

We enjoyed everything about our dinner at Brasserie by LM. Our server was very polite and on top of things the whole night. The only set back that we noticed is it's attachment to a hotel. There was A LOT of traffic in and out. But I think we noticed it more because we were say right by the doors that connected the hotel and restaurant. The food was definitely fantastic though and we will be back!

The food was passable but not great. The service was poor....it seemed that the Eastern European service staff were far more interested in conversations among themselves than to be bothered with mere customers. Multiple requests were ignored or incorrectly answered. The staff drama would have been far more entertaining if I had not expected to be fed.

Stopped in the for the Champagne Mimosa Brunch! Bottomless mimosas, what else needs to be said! We were seated outside which was fantastic. The weather cooperated and it made for a very lovely outdoor brunch. I ordered the house omelette which was good. Great portion size, I had trouble finishing the entire omelette. Our waitress was attentive and made sure our mimosas we all topped off. If you're in the area please stop by on the weekend for the brunch.

My friend ordered the Arugula salad with steak as a part of the Prix Fix menu. When the salad arrived, there was no steak. She inquired with the server who first told her it didn't say steak on the menu. When we insisted it did, he said that if she wanted steak she should have indicated it when ordering. If the menu item says it comes with steak, why would anyone reaffirm that they do indeed want steak?

Although not advertised on the website or menu, Brasserie offers a bottomless mimosa option which includes a menu item for $25 on Saturdays and Sundays. Our servers were so attentive that it was a challenge getting to the bottom of our flutes before the next refill! The food was impeccable and patio spacious for Michigan Ave. Everyone in our group of 6 was a first timer, but we're excited to return again.

This is the second beer tasting we have been to at this restaurant. They do them very well. The representatives are knowledgeable but so are the wait staff. The only comment I would have is that whoever is sponsoring the beers should provide the diners with a small snack with the beers. You need something to clear the palate between the different beers until the food comes.

This was conveniently located to where my friend from out of town stayed, and therefore became our meeting place for breakfast. The small menu did not offer a large variety, and food was good but not spectacular. But it is a quiet, casual, and remarkably cute and comfortable place for a week day morning get-together. I will definitely be back.

The good news is the food was excellent! We went for brunch and each had something different.....all 3 of us were very pleased with our choice. Also, the staff is very friendly, from the host to our server and everyone else we interacted with.
The bad news is although we had a reservation we still had to wait to be seated. After being seated and placing our order, the wait for our meals was surprisingly long. The server must have told us at least three times that the food will be out shortly. Apparently the kitchen was backed up, I think only one cook was working. For this reason I would give it another try.

Nice location and easy to have a conversation. Charcuterie and cheese plates were good. Croque was soggy with too much cheese. I had to scrap the cheese on top off to the side because there was just too much to even see or taste anything else.

Decent food, great patio but it should NOT take 1 hour and 50 mins for wine, entree and dessert. Patio was not even full and no line for Saturday brunch. It doesn't take me 15 mins to decide on a dessert menu of 5 items!!! Made us late to Printer's Row event so we were literally stuck in the back row. On event weekends, manager needs to make sure ALL HANDS ARE ON DECK!!!! Since I am a local, I have given this place many opportunities to shine and always miserably disappointed. Asked for check THREE TIMES!! I think we're are going to have to break up Brasserie by LM. It's not me-it's YOU!
