The food was excellent. They have a nice prix fix pre-theater menu that was under $30. If you're looking for good food at reasonable prices and lovely ambiance, this is the place.

Their brunch menu was different from the actual restaurant menu. The menu was more of a breakfast/lunch menu than a Sunday Brunch menu. The eggs were very good, but not exactly what we wanted for a pre-show Sunday brunch.

We go frequently for pre-theater--good food, variety, value (pre-fixe) and service that moves the meal along and gets you out on time. Areas of the restaurant are quiet; in some the noise level is closer to moderate.

Not impressed. Ordered a baked chicken with mushroom sauce. Came with 2 fingerling “lukewarm” potatoes, some veggies and overdone chicken. Was there once before and remember not being thrilled then either. 2 for 2.

Only okay...great location but lackluster food...not terrible, but in no way memorable...and in no way, French...the food was bland and conventional...it didn't cost a lot and it didn't taste bad...it was just completely okay, but not worth going back to...crowded anyway...

We celebrated a birthday and had the price fix meal. The food and service were excellent. Very reasonable prices and very friendly, accomodating staff. The only thing missing was a children's menu but they did prepare a pasta dish to accommodate us.

Made a reservation on the Open Table app approximately 30
minutes prior to our walk over. It was pouring rain & we were all famished from looking at “the Tree”.. so when we arrived, they had our reservation open & tried to seat us immediately. They have a full, well-appointed bar & the room is warm with lovely lighting. We were seated quickly in the packed dining room & were waited on immediately. Their brunch menu is phenomenal, our party of four started with the escargot (which was garlicky & delicious) with warm bread & French onion soup. For lunch, the burgers came out exactly as we ordered, and both their brisket and chicken sandwiches were excellent. We will definitely return soon.

The waiter was not able to get my husband's drink order right. They were out of certain items on the menu by 5:30 on a Saturday. The food was less than adequate. My beef was chewy and over cooked, onions were basically raw and the mashed potatoes had no taste.

The restaurant is appealing to look at and perfectly situated for an evening at the theatre. It was “fine”. I probably wouldn’t go back, but it worked for what we needed. The people were very nice. It was a nice looking restaurant. But the food was eh. Our appetizers were fine. Nothing special, but fine. My dinner wasn’t worth eating (I got a risotto), my daughter liked her burger and my husband said his salmon was also fine. Dessert did not feel like it was made on premises and was also “just fine”.

Coffee and mimosas were amazing. The French onion soup was good, as was the salads. Great for everyday meals. I recommend it for the ambiance. It’s the kind of place where you can drink a coffee, read and people watch.

This spot was really good. I had to make a reservation though due to high volume but it wasn’t a problem at all. The poached egg with salmon and English muffin was exceptional. The omelettes and steak were as well. It was quick and delicious.

Brasserie Athenee is a convenient spot when going to the theater. It is very loud. It seemed the server had many people to serve so despite wanting to be attentive we had to go find him twice. I had the salmon which was very good. We enjoyed our time and food.

I ate here last year and loved it. This visit I was very disappointed. Ordered the mussels with fries, mussels were gritty (sandy, not cleaned thoroughly) and rubbery. I’m not one to return food so I just didn’t finish them; should have said something. My friend did enjoy her salmon dish. I’ll give it one more try.

This place is very well located near Broadway theaters and is very quiet. I was able to get in with a group of 4 without reservations. Service was friendly, professional and helpful. The food is mediocre. Noting was particularly wrong, but nothing was memorable or particularly well prepared. The steak tartar was very fresh overwhelmed with too much mustard. The onion soup broth was ok but could have been more flavorful. The steak was a tasteless cut of meat.

Chef must have changed or something. This was a reliable neighborhood gem with good bistro French food in a charming setting. Setting is the same, but our food was mediocre at best. The coq au vin, which we’ve had here before and liked, was nothing more than a roast chicken with brown gravy. The seafood pasta was super salty. We were disappointed. A temporary chef filling in, I hope? Not sure we’ll be back to find out.

We dined on a Sunday after a 2:00 Broadway matinee. Our perfect Manhattan cocktails were made just as we like them. We opted for the pris fixe menu. The Mediterranean appetizer plate was excellent, the spinach pie was ok. The entrees (chicken and slow cooked beef) were rather bland, but not inedible. We were not rushed at all, which was nice. Dessert was almond cake soaked in simple syrup and creme caramel (the latter was better than the former). In all an adequate early dinner.

Food was average. I ordered the short ribs. My wife ordered the coq au vin. They both had the same exact gravy and vegetables. They tasted the same. It seemed like they had a vat of this sauce and just poured it over anything. The food lacked flavor. 5 onion soup was excellent however.

We stopped by Brasserie Athenee on our way to the theatre. The service was friendly and attentive and the menu had vegetarian options, which is always appreciated. I had the pre-theatre menu, which consisted of a Mediterranean appetizer, ratatouille, and a dessert. The ratatouille and dessert were delicious however, the dips in the appetizer were a bit bland. Next time I would opt for the spinach pie.

Inedible food - ordered steak frites and neither steak was edible. One was over cooked, the other undercooked; both were cold and somewhat slimy. Had an awful taste. Fries were ok, but not worth the cost. We left both steaks with only one bite take out of them - you think someone would have noticed and asked if everything was ok. Would never go back and highly recommend people try any other restaurant in the area.

One of the best pre-theater menus in the area. $29 for 3 courses is a great deal. Good variety. Service is excellent. You don't feel rushed but you're not constantly looking at your watch afraid you won't make the play. They have it down pat.

In fairness, the braised short-rib dish that my wife ordered looked very good - and she loved it. I had the 10oz. New York strip (Steak Frites) and it was just average. No real flavor to it; the accompanying sauce was ok; and the fries were over done - not worth $35 in my humble opinion. The restaurant was nice and the staff was attentive and friendly. I’d try again, but get a different dish.

The service was nice and attentive. That’s about all that was particularly positive. This place is OK. Definitely overpriced. We paid $35 for a lamb dish, ordered medium, and it was over-cooked and chewy. The shrimp we had—also overcooked. The chairs need to be replaced, or reupholstered.
