Brasserie 292 Ratings and Reviews
We went to Brasserie 292 for Restaurant Week, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The wine was good, (try Malbec Purple), and the food was delicious - Succulent Lamb Shank that fell off of the bone, savory Celeriac Soup, and a very generous portion of creamy foie gras. We'll be back soon.
We went to B 292 during restaurant week, but we had been there previously. The food was excellent and we loved the ambiance. The food were full portions which is not always the case during restaurant week. I would recommend this restaurant however parking can be a challenge but in my estimation it is worth it!
We've had dinner here several times in the past and both the food and service was excellent. This time though the food was as good as ever, however, our waiter was less attentive and lacking in personality compared to previous visits.
We'll continue you stop by but if service level continues as recently experienced we may wish to consider other dining options.
We really enjoyed this place last year, but what a difference a year makes. The service was nice, but The food and drinks were lacking. The food was cold, the onion soup was off tasting, the beef tartare was bland. The eggs Benedict flat. The bloody Mary was warm. Every place can have an off day.
We ate before a concert, and our server made sure that we were out in time, without rushing us. There were several events going on that evening and the restaurant was very crowded, but we ate a relaxed meal. The food was wonderful, although one of us thought that the beef ragu sauce for the ravioli was too strong a flavor, drowning out the mushroom/cheese filling. But my black sea bass was delicious. The servings were not too large, which I was happy about. I think that many restaurants put far too much food on your plate. I had room for flourless chocolate cake afterwards, which was outstanding.
Equal to French bistros we frequent in NYC. The duck confit was one of the best I've had, and the most quantity of foie gras I've ever been given. The lamb shank was moist and off the bone, could have used a little more seasoning, but still very satisfactory. The cocktails were creative, tasty and strong - try the Loose Cannon. Great decor and friendly, helpful staff.
Met to discuss an upcoming project- we could not have asked for a better spot!
The service was sublime, the food excellent, and the prices very good for the portion size and quality of the food. The Rillettes on the cheese plate are INCREDIBLE, and the “little owl” cocktail is delicious. Great wine list too. We’ll be back!
I'd been to the restaurant for brunch in the past and really enjoyed it. My wife and I were looking to take a ride on a beautiful night, from Westchester County. We called friends near Poughkeepsie to meet us and, it was worth the ride. Food, service, ambience and even price were great.
Anthony was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the entire menu, that it made it so easy to decide what to order. The booths are awesome and the cocktails were superb. If you like pate, this is your place. We both ordered steaks that were cooked to perfection. Truly was a perfect dining experience.
Had a great dinner once again. Always good food. Fried oysters, my favorite, never disappoints. The veal shank was a bit dry but the Brussels sprouts and the sauteed spinach were great. Always a good wine selection (The Grenache was full and tasty, my wife had the Vouvray, also a good choice ). Her salmon was done well with a great mustard sauce. Gelato was so-so, but then if you had Gelato in Rome you really can't find its equal anywhere else (my wife disagrees). The service was, as always, excellent.
Walk right past the bar into a letter perfect Brasserie with tile, wood and red banquettes. Menus straight from Paris with excellent local selections. Good steaks, oysters, onion soup and a perfect array of desserts. Great for treating your Vassar student to a wonderful french evening. Even on Saturday night and despite tile walls, we could hear one another. Parking on street or behind the restaurant.
This place is a definite gem in a location that seems a bit off. Nevertheless we enjoyed our meal with excellent service. Side of wild Mushrooms fricasee, fried oysters, charcuterie plate, lobster bisque with more than a few bites of lobster in it - everything was on point. We would recommend this to anybody in the Poughkeepsie area for a nice lunch/dinner out.
Solid food - standout was the grilled caesar salad. Service was good and knowledgeable. The only issue was the A/C. We sat against the wall and the A/C somehow channeled along the wall and was quite uncomfortable. The staff was not able to resolve it. Overall, a good brasserie experience in a classic brasserie setting.
We had a great experience at Brasserie 292. As was stated in other reviews, the service was a stand out. We were there for a special occasion and the serving staff was attentive but unobtrusive. We were able to enjoy conversation as the noise level was low and the atmosphere was also very nice. The food was delicious!!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will go again next time I'm in town. The neighborhood concerned me at first but it was totally fine.
I highly recommend this restaurant. While we were on a mini-vacation in the area, I took my husband there to celebrate his birthday and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. The decor is reminiscent of a subway station but the noise level was quiet. We were promptly greeted and seated in a booth. We ordered a bottle of wine which was delivered quickly. Our appetizers came out promptly as well. He had the lobster bisque which he said was delicious with large pieces of lobster. I had the sardines which I enjoyed as well. The bread was fresh out of the oven. For our entrees he had a steak which was cooked to perfection and very tender. I had the brook trout which was very fresh and tasty. We skipped dessert because we were too full from our meals and the wine but the dessert menu looked good too.
