Very nice dinner. All the entrees were delicious, service was good. Very enjoyable evening.
A gem of a restaurant in downtown Poughkeepsie! Delicious food, great service, beautiful restaurant.
There was first Friday nite and despite our reservation we were seated in an overflow area. They were overwhelmed with guests.
We’ve been going to brassiere 292 for years, but it’s just not as good as it was before. There food and service was lacking, but the drinks were good
I buck the trend, american waiters in general are too concerned with service, they interrupt far too often for my taste, otherwise everything about your place was good, my criticism is eccentric I know...
We really enjoyed this place last year, but what a difference a year makes. The service was nice, but The food and drinks were lacking. The food was cold, the onion soup was off tasting, the beef tartare was bland. The eggs Benedict flat. The bloody Mary was warm. Every place can have an off day.
We ate before a concert, and our server made sure that we were out in time, without rushing us. There were several events going on that evening and the restaurant was very crowded, but we ate a relaxed meal. The food was wonderful, although one of us thought that the beef ragu sauce for the ravioli was too strong a flavor, drowning out the mushroom/cheese filling. But my black sea bass was delicious. The servings were not too large, which I was happy about. I think that many restaurants put far too much food on your plate. I had room for flourless chocolate cake afterwards, which was outstanding.
Everything was great, I will come back
So wonderful!! Staff and good were lovely. Definitely would return.
Restaurant outstanding, service great - neighborhood not so great / felt unsafe - but food, staff, atmosphere inside the place great!
Love, love, love Brasserie 292! The Brunch was scrumptious, and the service outstanding! Highly recommended!
We really enjoy this restaurant. The food is excellent and of good value. Drinks are well done.
Equal to French bistros we frequent in NYC. The duck confit was one of the best I've had, and the most quantity of foie gras I've ever been given. The lamb shank was moist and off the bone, could have used a little more seasoning, but still very satisfactory. The cocktails were creative, tasty and strong - try the Loose Cannon. Great decor and friendly, helpful staff.
Met to discuss an upcoming project- we could not have asked for a better spot!
The service was sublime, the food excellent, and the prices very good for the portion size and quality of the food. The Rillettes on the cheese plate are INCREDIBLE, and the “little owl” cocktail is delicious. Great wine list too. We’ll be back!
We had a party of six who ordered a number of different items. All seemed pleased with their dishes. The service was excellent.
Outstanding & truly authentic French bistro experience....like being in France!!
Great place to eat and enjoy. Solid atmosphere and exceptional service. Landon is awesome, great bartender and manger.
I'd been to the restaurant for brunch in the past and really enjoyed it. My wife and I were looking to take a ride on a beautiful night, from Westchester County. We called friends near Poughkeepsie to meet us and, it was worth the ride. Food, service, ambience and even price were great.
Anthony was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the entire menu, that it made it so easy to decide what to order. The booths are awesome and the cocktails were superb. If you like pate, this is your place. We both ordered steaks that were cooked to perfection. Truly was a perfect dining experience.
Received some one else’s drink. Booth was too small
Had a great dinner once again. Always good food. Fried oysters, my favorite, never disappoints. The veal shank was a bit dry but the Brussels sprouts and the sauteed spinach were great. Always a good wine selection (The Grenache was full and tasty, my wife had the Vouvray, also a good choice ). Her salmon was done well with a great mustard sauce. Gelato was so-so, but then if you had Gelato in Rome you really can't find its equal anywhere else (my wife disagrees). The service was, as always, excellent.
Cool atmosphere. Awesome onion soup and fries. Booth a little tight for 4 adults but overall a very good experience.
Walk right past the bar into a letter perfect Brasserie with tile, wood and red banquettes. Menus straight from Paris with excellent local selections. Good steaks, oysters, onion soup and a perfect array of desserts. Great for treating your Vassar student to a wonderful french evening. Even on Saturday night and despite tile walls, we could hear one another. Parking on street or behind the restaurant.
Wonderful wait staff and delicious food!
This place is a definite gem in a location that seems a bit off. Nevertheless we enjoyed our meal with excellent service. Side of wild Mushrooms fricasee, fried oysters, charcuterie plate, lobster bisque with more than a few bites of lobster in it - everything was on point. We would recommend this to anybody in the Poughkeepsie area for a nice lunch/dinner out.
Solid food - standout was the grilled caesar salad. Service was good and knowledgeable. The only issue was the A/C. We sat against the wall and the A/C somehow channeled along the wall and was quite uncomfortable. The staff was not able to resolve it. Overall, a good brasserie experience in a classic brasserie setting.
We had a great experience at Brasserie 292. As was stated in other reviews, the service was a stand out. We were there for a special occasion and the serving staff was attentive but unobtrusive. We were able to enjoy conversation as the noise level was low and the atmosphere was also very nice. The food was delicious!!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will go again next time I'm in town. The neighborhood concerned me at first but it was totally fine.
I highly recommend this restaurant. While we were on a mini-vacation in the area, I took my husband there to celebrate his birthday and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. The decor is reminiscent of a subway station but the noise level was quiet. We were promptly greeted and seated in a booth. We ordered a bottle of wine which was delivered quickly. Our appetizers came out promptly as well. He had the lobster bisque which he said was delicious with large pieces of lobster. I had the sardines which I enjoyed as well. The bread was fresh out of the oven. For our entrees he had a steak which was cooked to perfection and very tender. I had the brook trout which was very fresh and tasty. We skipped dessert because we were too full from our meals and the wine but the dessert menu looked good too.
It is a universally and unfailingly wonderful restaurant, and Landon Frederick is the world's best bartender—he mixes the best drink I've ever had.
Best restaurant in the Hudson Valley. We have eaten here many times. This was not a fluke. And fairly priced too
Consistently great spot for us to stop in Poughkeepsie
The Brasserie 292 is a consistently delightful restaurant. The food is high quality, the cocktails clever and delicious, and the ambience Parisian. It's not inexpensive but the quality matches the cost.
Have enjoyed in the past but not this time. Indifferent and amateur service was the main gripe. Had to ask other waiter for assistance as ours was elsewhere. Not a busy night. We had 2 apps and main courses. Three good and one not good. Ordered the frites hamburger medium which is Kobe and the cook burned the outside and dried it out. Really, a burned burger.
The place has charm to spare, and the food was lovely in a satisfyingly brasserie way. This was a Sunday evening, quite early, and while the service started beautifully, the seams showed as the meal wore on. If the staff were as competent as they are charming (and they were all very sweet) this would be a whole step better.
Super over rated. Octopus and escargot was super over cooked. Steaks overdone. Server wasn't knowlegable about the wine list. Over priced for lack of quality.
Really good food and drinks.
Shared with two young teenagers and we all loved the restaurant. Gladly return
When we arrived, the restaurant had just finished with a pre-theatre rush. The staff was evidently exhausted. Service was slow and inattentive. The food was good but, at best, a fair value. I shall not return.
The menu selections and food preparation were unquestionably of the highest quality, but the service was positively abysmal. It took more than one hour for entree's to arrive at the table. Prior to this, a waiter (not ours), attempted to deliver an appetizer we did not order. After informing him of the error, he returned to the kitchen and about 10 minutes later, a different waiter attempted to deliver the same appetizer once again!! Brasserie 292 is linked to the Bardovan website as a recommended dining choice, and you would reasonably expect them to be prepared for handling pre-performance diners; unfortunately it was obvious the staff was overwhelmed and entirely unprepared to service patrons.
This is one of the gems of the region. There are many reasons to go here -- for me, the professionalism in both the front and back of the house, the creative cocktails, and the modern but French-inflected menu keep bringing me back.
