Food was good but we felt almost completely ignored by the waiter. He didn’t explain the soup of the day or any information about the specials yet we heard him tell the other table all of that which is the only reason we knew we didn’t have the same information. We had to ask for bread three times. He barely paid our table any attention. The food was really good though.
We had a reservation for 830p and got seated at 950p. They said the manager would come talk with us but never did. Our waiter was good and the food was good.
The food was amazing. We went during Valentines so the service was a little rough but I’m sure that was everywhere. Our server was nice but overwhelmed. Would definitely go back on a non holiday.
I booked full month ahead for advertised Valentine dinner special. Management overbooked big time as if it was Mardi Gras in NOLA, so we stood for 45 minutes with others waiting to be seated in cramped bar area dodging waiters and staff as they tried their best to accommodate the crowds which included large tables of oil convention folks having expense account eating and drinking binges.
Mr Cooper & Co should have been ashamed and handing out champagne to the frustrated regulars but more likely was crowing about likely best profit night in their history..
Sorry to be so negative about this experience at one of our favorite Houston restaurants. I even felt embarrassed for the staff...
It was Valentines Day so a pass on the slow service. Oysters were listed as east coast but were Canadian and not well shuked. Pork chop was delicious!
The handling of reservations has been horrible. The past two times we've been, we've waited an hour when we had a reservation.
Authentically French. Terrible service. Sat 20 minutes before a waiter approached the table. Very slow service all evening, but the food was pretty good and the people watching was entertaining.
Wow---what Valentine's date night. Seated 50 minutes after arriving 5 minutes before our reservation time. Then waited 15 minutes at the table for an offer of beverages and menus. Flagged down a hostess and she went to work getting us glasses of wine and a waiter engaged. I lost track of how long it took for the waiter to actually take our order. But the wine did not come until we finished our appetizer and the main course was served. The waiter seemed insulted that we did not order more deserts/more drinks....This was a night to forget....
Worst Valentines Day ever. Had 6:30 reservations, had to stand until 7:30 to be seated. Waited 40 min for drinks. Never brought desert. The place way over booked and it was packed so bad you couldn’t hear, couldn’t walk. People kept bumping into our table and spilling stuff. This used to be one of our favorites but we’ll never go there again. Also they discontinued our favorite orange crepe. I had to threaten to walk out if they didn’t bring me the check NOw. Worst dining experience ever.
Great experience, service and food. Just crowded and a little noisy
Valentines Day Meal
Marvelous! Wonderful food and great service. Really enjoyed the tuna. AIX rose was delicious. So was the chocolate cake.
Great food and the wine selection is amazing.
Really great service!
Great lighting and an overall appealing ambiance. Service was ok. Our scallop appetizer was good. The side of brussel sprouts that came with the pork were absolutely outstanding, delicious and crispy. However, our pork chops were extremely dry and quite expensive to be so unsatisfying. I’d probably not return if I was footing the bill.
Decent experience, I had a great meal - even though the food quality was not normal over-the-top preparation and flair.
I would rate this experience a B, whereas All other dining experiences were A+, Top Notch Food that would be served at only the finest French restaurants!
Our meal was very good, service was excellent and cocktails well made.
Top tier service and always fun.
Really excellent French restaurant, but like most French restaurants the portions are very small. We were wondering if they are trying to economize. They have been in business a long time, and wondering if they are having problems keeping customers? Our duck breast was wonderful, but only two small pieces of breast. The beef bourganoine was also great, but the beef short ribs were very fatty. Still a great restaurant, just don't go very hungry.
My 60th birthday was a ton of fun.
Food is always good. Our Waitor, Jorge M, professional, happy, attentive, and knowledgeable.
With a restaurant that had plenty of cheery tables in non traffic areas, the hostess decided she wanted to put us at a dark table in the pathway of servers in a part of the restaurant that had a funky smell. She did at least allow us to go to a table with some light and out of the way. After this poor start, things improved a bit with a friendly server that provided just the right amount of attention to start but then we did not see him again for a long time. The menu had changed from the last time I was there and not for the better. Overall, not a good choice for lunch as most of the items were too much food and way too expensive. I ended up with a pricey salad that was okay for a starter but not enough for lunch and a cup of soup.
With so many good choices in Houston , I do not plan to go back.
While I am a HUGE fan of Brasserie 19, I left feeling a bit disappointed. I have always thought that for what I received, it was a value. Wonderful spirits and wine, with a moderate mark up. When we were charged for the ice cube in my husbands whiskey, I was shocked. I have not seen this anywhere. In most higher end restaurants, the larger cube now comes standard when asking for a bourbon on the rocks. They should reevaluate this practice because it comes off as "nickel and diming" and this restaurant has always been better than that.
It's a nice place for dinner. The wait staff was very courteous and helpful.
excellent food and very good service ... we'll keep coming back
Excellent brunch and service
I ordered duck and it was TERRIBLE... mini portion - tough and fatty. I will NEVER order again.
The chef should have been embarrassed to present that.
Sunday evening, 6pm, empty restaurant, yet our table of 6 was seated at the last one by the toilets. Our guests arrived before 6 and were seated, so I could not complain to have the table changed. Throughout the meal, people walked through the empty restaurant, then past our table to the toilets, the doors could be heard opening and closing. Yuck.
it can get noisy there. and the strip center is definitely losing tenants though no fault of Brassserie 19
Best oysters in town.
One of my faves. Regular Patron.
I would rec w/caveats. Food: Escargot/acceptable-good cheesy sauce Mussels/good Fried Oysters/so-so Trout Almondine/not even close to the hype but potatoes were great Fish n Chips/sent back oily and undercooked Peanut Butter Dessert/nice but not outstanding Choc Cake/more of a molten cake & not as described OVERALL FOOD: tries too hard - ends up unimpressive Service: horrid - our thick rimmed trendy eyeglass wearing asian waiter was trite, snobbish, inattentive, mute etc - our bill was over $350 for LUNCH for 3 - I still tipped 20% in spite of his dismal performance. Example: given 2 slices of bread with 3 apps - asked for more - received 2 more slices on a large plate - asked pointedly for BREAD - finally got 3 bagged mini loaves. Good atmosphere. So my recommendation would be expect a vibrant atmosphere, inform staff at seating you intend to tip equal to the service provided and hope the kitchen is pumping out exceptional product....which it should for the price!
Brasserie 19 is a busy place with a vibrant see and be seen feel to it. Dinner was good, our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable.
Only our head waiter could have been better, better severs from everyone else.
We have pretty good food. The priced are very high, but we knew that before we arrived. A few trouble spots:
* When we arrived, we were handed a single electronic drink menu and no food menus for several minutes later.
* some of our food items were cold.
* When we sat down we were informed that they would need to turn the table in about 2 hours. What a way to make us feel welcome! We were on our way to a 8 p.m. play so we were gone long before then but still found it off-putting.
In all, for hte money, it wasn't a good experience. Not a bad one, but given the plethora of good restaurants in Houston, it's not likely one I'll be back for.
Having dined here so many times with a perfect experience, I am disappointed to find they are merely human. I ordered a filet au poive. What I got was not like any I have had before. No peppercorns! The steak with mushrooms was otherwise very good, just not what I wanted. I asked for pomme friites instead of mashed potatoes, but got the mashers anyway. They promptly cooked up the frites, but the delay was, again, disappointing. Minor glitches are magnified by the excellence of past visits. I'm hoping for another good visit next time.
The octopus appetizer was okay - seemed like they did not prepare it to order - and the garnishes were rather raw
The scallops were tough/chewy
The cauliflower steak was raw and the oil used had a burned taste
The steak was perfect
Great place to celebrate my grandson’s first birthday!
Staff was terrific with him and food was great!
Great service and food.
