Brassaii Ratings and Reviews
Cool place to hang out with friends - turns into a bar at night. Food looked great but was underwhelming and bland. Octopus comes out as a whole arm and was not appetizing to look at. Come for the ambiance/drinks not food (although cocktails are expensive at $18).
I’ve been to Brassaii before for dinner (and it was lovely), but this was my first time for brunch. I’m sure the food would’ve been lovely if they had what they claimed they did. I kept asking for toppings (ex: chocolate sauce) and they were out of it, and my friend was excited to eat their cinnamon bun, but they were also out of it. We wanted a juice on their brunch menu (tey have 2 options), but they were out of that, too. At one point we laughed bc they were out of everything.
This was my second time at Brassaii. I loved it the first time and chose it for my partner's birthday. Everything was great - the service (from the moment we arrived), the food - all our choices were delicious, it satisfied teenagers and adults alike, and the atmosphere is cool and hip. A great spot for any occasion! P.s. Must have the fries!
We had a reservation for my boyfriends birthday for four people. We arrived five minutes late, but were sat at a table within a couple of minutes of arriving. Once we sat, a server came over quickly with menus and took drink orders. When he returned we all ordered. An hour passed and we had not been served our food. I inquired about what the delay was with the server and told him that I too have served and it should not be taking me inquiring with him to find out what’s wrong. Delays that long are caused by kitchen error, or a server not entering an order once received. He touched my arm and sarcastically said, “oh, you’re going to teach me about how to serve now?!” I firmly told him a few times not to touch me. He left the table and came back to say it would be a minute more. It was nearly ten more minutes and then our food arrived. The food was tasty but not worth the wait.
I have to say was so disappointed.. came from Chatham for TIFF and Brassaii was the hotspot as they were hosting the Hollywood Reporter from there. First we were seated for a 1230 reservation , bit of time went by, our drink order was taken and then it is like they forgot us. Not that our waiter was not friendly and nice, just seemed a bit clueless on the fact that we were there for lunch. First the hostess came and took our menus for no reason, must have assumed we ordered, after I dont know 20 minutes we had to tell the fellow cleaning tables to tell waiter we had to order food as we had a premiere to attend. So he comes and we order just a cobb salad and hamburger, I mean how long should that take.. We had no food in front of us until 1:40, we arrived at 12:30 and then we had to keep getting his attention to see what was up. We noticed food sitting up on the kitchen area where the waiters pick up and deliver for at least 15 mins. This is not acceptable at any restaurant let alone a nicer one. When we did get food, it was good, no complaints, but we cannot recommend nor will we return during our yearly venture to TIFF. You only get one chance to make a first impression and unfortunately it was a bad one for us, sorry. We went to five other well known TIFF spots and the service was amazing. Brassaii was not even very busy when we were there, seemed most doing your brunch.. you should talk to your wait staff as the couple next to us started to talk and said the same thing, so ridiculous the wait was on their food!!!!
So very disappointed. Service was poor from start to finish. I gave my name to three different people before finally being seated--everyone looked so confused! Perhaps they were starstruck from the TIFF celebrities who had been there, but why encourage people to visit during TIFF when you can't provide them with proper service? I ate my yogurt parfait with a fork as no one came by for me to inform them that I did not have a spoon. I felt sorry for our server who was clearly overwhelmed serving the whole patio by herself--not her fault that Brassaii did not provide sufficient servers, given that it was during TIFF. We were there for about 2-1/2 hours, most of it spent waiting for service. Upon leaving, we happened to get up just as Ellen Page was also leaving her press event. I was unaware that she was behind us and the security/staff, who were facing me, were blocking me so I had to squeeze between them while excusing myself. My apologies for not being a celebrity--just a lowly OpenTable diner! Horrible experience--will never go back.
Really enjoyed our dining experience the service was top notch!! It was our first time there and will say we will definitely be returning!! Love that part of the establishment turns into a nightclub and I would say the crowd is 25 plus. Great music and ambience!
Pretentious French cuisine. Starter was nice. Didn't like main course (which was anything but French). Wine list limited but offers some gems. All in all place is way overrated and way overpriced. Place may be nice for some friends to get together and have a night out. If you are seeking a fine dining experience - look elsewhere.
Very good food. Summerlicious menu was quite good.Service was a bit slow at times. One of my guests did not get his food for quite a while. Our main server was super courteous and friendly, but the other servers who brought food to the table had no idea who had ordered what. I would prefer the server to ask before setting a plate down in front of someone and then having to switch them, it happened multiple times. Ambience was excellent and music level was good, got increasingly louder as expected later into the night. Overall quite enjoyed this vent for dinner
It was the first time that my colleague and I dined at Brassaii. We came for Summerlicious. The service was not the best for a restaurant of this calibre. There was confusion among the servers with us getting asked about drinks, confusion about the policy for the half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays (they are all half price, but one server insisted that it was only bottles that did not come by the glass which would've meant that only the expensive bottles were half price and a good chunk of the wine list would not be eligible), and confusion about bringing out the bread and food. We tried to flag down one of servers, but were ignored. The food itself was OK. The salmon tartare appetizer was very good, but my main course arctic char was bland with hardly any side vegetables (3 cherry tomatoes and a piece of pear) and a stick of polenta. The peanut butter and banana and jam cake was disappointing with hardly a hint of peanut butter. What I liked the most was the secluded, large patio. I would go back for that and maybe try something off their regular dinner menu or their brunch menu.
Service was terrible. Took 20 minutes for a waiter to come see us after we sat down and even then we had to flag. It was 7:45 so there were only a few tables seated, not full by any means. We continued to have to flag the wait whenever we needed anything because no on attended to us. We couldnt even find our waiter at the end of the night, the guy serving the next section had to help us. When we did get service there was attitude and we were being polite, didn't complain. Food was ok but not worth the price. Outdoor patio was lovely.
This restaurant came recommended...what a great experience. From the atmosphere to the food to after dinner drinks it was wonderful. The service was amazing as the waiter suggested great items which we tried and really enjoyed. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
First time at Brassaii while visiting the city for the weekend with my husband. Our reservation was at 7:30pm and restaurant was quite empty at this time and we were thankful it did start to get busy with people closer to 8:30pm. We loved the building and atmosphere and the feeling of a full restaurant so much better than an empty one. Our server Alex was fabulous and after chatting with us about why we were in Toronto he gave us two glasses of complimentary Champagne which we loved! Our food was amazing and so were our drinks. We would love to visit again with a group. Fun spot for a later reservation or just drinks with friends.
The food was very creative. And we loved the 100 KM salad and the oysters. The ribs and the octopus were good too but not dishes we would order again. Portions are generous so we went home with a lot of food. I would like to go back and try some other items on the menu.
Service was friendly and competent except we were not told of items on the menu which were not available. There were also items not on the menu which were available and we were not told of them until we were disappointed in our choices.
Food was well prepared and tasty but no vegetables on the plate.
