Branzino Italian Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We were the only couple in the restaurant for almost 2 hours. Granted, our reservations were early, however, for being the only diners, service still seemed to be lacking. My scallops were cooked very well, but the rest of the meal definitely left something to be desired. I was very disappointed and felt that the quality of food was way over priced for what we were given. Glad I tried it, but will not go back.
The food was outstanding. Unfortunately the service and room were not up to the level of what the chef and his team produce. The dining room was uncomfortably warm and our server was unresponsive to concerns about it. Beverage glasses were frequently empty and the entrees for our small group came out in three different stages meaning those receiving their entrees first had a wait of several minutes before they could start which affected the food temperature and overall experience. Hopefully, they can get all these glitches resolved so the chef can shine with appropriate support!
I don't understood why this restaurant isn't more appreciated by Philly diners. Is it because Branzino is BYOB? Or because the place isn't owned by Vetri or Garces or Starr? Or because diners pay too much attention to the laughable restaurant lists in Philadelphia Magazine? You can't get a better fish dinner in Center City than the branzino at Branzino, as we promised our two friends--and Branzino delivered--when we dined there last Wednesday. The service was first-rate without being intrusive and the atmosphere was perfect for relaxed conversation.
P.S. The braised veal cheeks are exquisite as well.
Good food, although smaller sized portions. Fairly limited menu. Rough night for service... Perhaps the waiters were understaffed. Very long wait for apps and entrees, never received bread basket, only one of four deserts ordered came out. Have been one previous time and did not have any issues with service so maybe just an off night.
My daughter and I had dinner here before the ballet, and sat in the garden. Service, food and atmosphere were all lovely. It was a pleasure to be able to have a quiet conversation without having to compete with the usual ambient noise of most restaurants. It was all good.
Went to dinner here this past Saturday night and had a horrible experience. We ended up having to walk out because at 8:45pm they were out of 4 of 8 entrees. I told the waiter I am lactose intolerant and have celiac and he was not helpful to try to find something to order after 3 tries and everything being unavailable. The last straw was when he told us not to shoot the messenger. Needless to say we will not be returning here.
We ate at Branzino Ristorante for the first time and were rewarded with an excellent meal. The food was outstanding, but the key to our experience was the service. Our hostess coordinated the service throughout several rooms taking orders and helping as needed. All wait staff were all professional serving unobtrusively. The timing of each course was not rushed, nor too long and waiters were not whisking away dishes from one person while the other was still finishing. That is a pet peeve that seems to happen more often now.
The dishes were prepared and presented well, the tableside fileting of the signature dish was done expertly with the filets transferred to a new plate for serving . Our hostess even found us a glass of wine to enjoy with our meal, when it turned out that we did not realize they are BYOB. Our only disappointment was not having room left to try the desserts. We will definitely be returning soon.
Recently I treated my husband to a birthday dinner at Branzinos, and we truly had a memorable meal. The food was superb, including the buffalo mozzarella and tomato appetizer, our two entrees (the divine branzino, fileted table-side and elegantly presented, and the veal scallopini Sorrento, tender and tasty), and our desserts--a chocolate torta with hazelnut center and ice cream, and a lemoncello sorbet. The service was warm and attentive (shout out to Alex). We had a lovely table in a beautiful room with other diners, yet the atmosphere was still intimate. We have already recommended this lovely BYOB, and we will be back!
We had a superb dinner here last weekend, marred only by a noisy table whose pleasure was shrieking at each other. The assortment of appetizers was inventive, all of them good, and our branzino, the specialty of the house, was the best experience with that noble fish we have ever had. The outside garden is delightful in warm weather. On our several visits the service has been uniformly attentive and friendly.
We've been to Branzino many times because the food is great and this time was no exception. But they were playing very aggressive music and it was way too loud even after we asked that they turn it down. This seems to be the way of the world these days. But when we go out for a romantic dinner, we want quietude!!!
First visit. Had reservations but given choice of two awful tables for 2 in main room. Requesting upstairs instead, was told it was completely reserved for private business meeting. Very upset and we were about to leave, but then shown upstairs by another. Room empty except for one loud table of 5 businessmen. Seated near them though many better tables available. Long wait for us to order, only after waving waiter down and his rude reaction. Food: soup fine, artichokes not great. Veal Saltimboca very good. Sorbet and especially Zabaglione excellent. After businessmen left, only one other table seated in the room. With the combination of being lied to by the staff, poor seating, poor service, and just fair food, we would never return and not recommend.
My first time at Branzinos for my 50th bday, recommended by a good friend. Great food and does not disappoint. My other friend ordered the ravioli which came out with only two large and flat pieces at 25$?. She's a small person and she was not satisfied, so I gave her some of my truffle rissoto. Why such a small portion? Maybe 3 ravioli next time?
I would definitely come back again, but not order the ravioli.
Our server Josh was friendly and very good.
Terrible experience. The waiter "pushed" the veal cheek entree. We ordered it. It was extremely fatty and we were not able to eat it. After one taste we informed the waiter who shrugged his shoulders. The entree was taken from the table uneaten . The expectation would be that the restaurant would offer us a different entree which they did not. Or that they would refund us for an uneaten entree. The other entree was the cod special. It was mediocre at best. We would not return to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone
